We recommend a complete culinary tour – sample as many authentic savoury bites as you can – TX Klub for their wild mushroom rice studded with yuca, Xarma Cook & Culture for their version of salted cod stacked on a skewer, and Rita for creamy oysters and ox chorizo. The best part? This tour is a perfect loop around your neighbourhood and its total walking time is only one hour.

Quaint Juliet balconies overlook the market, which is filled with local traders every morning. It's the perfect place to shop for produce to use in tapas and other dishes, which you can rustle up with ease in the glossy kitchenette. The finish is sleek and modern, with each bedroom having its own bathroom for added convenience. Factor in the option to arrange paid parking nearby – though a car is anything but necessary here – and it really ticks all the boxes.

Edging La Concha beach is this sleek one-bed apartment, ideal for a solo traveller or couple who want to maximise the romantic location. A squashy sofa sits by a wall-sized window facing onto the street, an ideal corner for curling up with a coffee and a crossword. Fill up on breakfast at the table with trendy mesh chairs; the kitchenette with inset microwave and induction cooker makes it easy to whip up an egg tortilla. Freshen up before your day out in the contemporary bathroom with a sleek porcelain sink and plenty of space for your accessories. The winding streets of the Old Town are a mere 10-minute walk away; a buzzing hub of pintxos bars, historic buildings and world-class restaurants.

On a lively street in San Sebastian’s Old Town, this one-bed flat is a short walk from La Concha beach. Recently renovated, the space sports a relaxed Organic Modern style, with soft neutrals, throws and cosy textures. The bedroom is similarly textural, and enjoys plenty of natural light from the French doors; throw them open for some sea air and to hear the sounds of the city waking up. A short walk from La Concha beach, this breezy apartment promises plenty of fun in San Sebastián.
