We love the effortless mix of rustic charm and sophistication you’ll find here, with the stone feature wall and wooden beams jumping straight to the top of our favourites list. Adding further to this home's appeal, light floods in through the French doors – take a peek through the glass and you’ll find elegant architecture waiting outside your window, encouraging you to get out into the city to explore. Throw open the doors and step onto the small balcony, and you’ll feel completely content as the Spanish sun shines down on you.

The kitchen is compact but well-equipped, perfect for rustling up some light bites when you’re feeling peckish. But, while staying in a city known for its culinary delights, you must explore the local area and try out some of the wonderful food on offer. With pintxos bars aplenty in the city, enjoy the creativity of the fabulous Basque chefs, washed down with a txakoli or two for the most memorable evening. 

Basque in Tranquillity

Fans of eclectic design will love this unusual apartment in a refurbished building in San Sebastian. The marble-style floating kitchen table is the perfect spot to plan your day over a morning java from the coffee machine, a cushion-festooned emerald sofa invites you to sink into it and watch a film on the smart TV, and the light fittings appear to quite literally jump out of the patterns on the walls behind them. If you are in need of some solitude, the quirky bedrooms are also a wonderful place to relax. And when you step outside, you’ll find the Cathedral of the Good Shepherd, Urumea river and La Concha Beach are all just a short walk away.

Bellaflor

A sunny flat on the fifth floor, this home boasts a contemporary design scheme with the use of fitted furnishings, neutral colours and metallic accent pieces that add warmth and focus. The open-plan living area isn’t huge but for up to three guests, it’s perfect for lounging about after an exciting day and catching up on all that you’ve seen. After all, you’ll be staying in the city centre, just moments from the Old Town and the golden sands of the Beach of La Concha. Bringing together all of our favourite ingredients for a perfect vacation, San Sebastian is a culinary haven, a surfer’s paradise and a culturally and historically rich enclave in the Basque Country. For hikers, we recommend climbing to the top of Mount Ulia for breathtaking views of the Bay of Biscay. Sun-worshippers can relax with live music or learn how to surf at Zurriola Beach. And foodies will fall in love with the venerable dining scene. When night falls, crawl into your wonderfully comfortable bed for a great night’s sleep.

Good As Gold

From its sleek and serene interiors you wouldn't guess this home is actually part of a stunning 19th-century building right in the centre of the action. We love the blend of old and new, where modern comforts aren’t missed, yet you still get a taste of the city’s historic character. Perfectly located near the Old Town, beaches and the promenades, each bedroom boasts charming views of this vibrant central neighbourhood. With a bathroom for each bedroom and two single beds in one of the rooms, this is a great base for a group of friends looking to explore the best of San Sebastián. 

Don Limpio

The great thing about a trip to San Sebastian is that it pleases almost every visitor: sun-worshippers can spend endless days at the beach; culture vultures will want to learn everything about this historic city;  foodies will find themselves in culinary heaven. That’s where this home comes into play. Not only does it have sleek interiors for design-forward guests, but it’s also ideally located to take full advantage of this alluring city. A wall of glass allows guests to gaze out over the beach and the bay of La Concha. When hunger strikes, step outside and explore the Old Town’s pintxos bars and restaurants. Our favourite, Bar Sport, is less than a five-minute walk from home.

Silver Sand

This cleverly designed two-bedroom home is high on the seventh floor overlooking the golden sands of La Concha Beach. With contemporary furnishings, detail-oriented accent pieces and modern appliances, you'll always be glad to return home after an exciting day. And there's no such thing as a boring day in Donostia-San Sebastian; walk to La Concha Beach in just two minutes or cross over the Urumea River to explore the alternative scene in the neighbourhood of Gros. This is where you'll find the city's surfing beach and many of its cultural venues and institutions. When night falls, make the short walk north to the Old Town for mouth-watering pintxos and local wine. 

7th Heaven

Welcome to this eclectic home in the heart of the Old Town. Thanks to its large, open-plan living area, a few friends or family members are sure to have a fabulous place to rest their weary heads after an exciting day on the Basque coast. Situated in the city centre, the flat faces the Bahia de La Concha and is just round the corner from the Old Town. The open-plan living room has stunning views over the bay and the surrounding gardens, and another highlight is the master bedroom, which has French windows with direct access to the terrace. Don't miss visiting either of the city’s two beaches, with La Concha perfect for a coastal stroll and a refreshing swim, while Zurriola invites adventurists and surfers. 

Forty Knots

With three bedrooms, a family or a group of friends will be well looked after in this stylish space in the heart of the city. Although the building you’ll be staying is probably one of the least attractive on the street, you’re in the privileged position of being able to gaze out at San Sebastian’s famous Art Nouveau architecture. The open-plan layout and soft seating invite guests to socialise in the living area before heading out for a day of fun. From your central position you can walk to the beach, the city’s museums and cultural institutions, and outstanding restaurants in just a few minutes. The Old Town, just north of this home, is where you’ll find the largest concentration of Donostia’s infamous pintxos bars. Just make sure you’re hungry because you won’t be able to stop yourself when you see the selection.

Gambas

A stone's throw from the charming Plaza de Gipuzkoa, one of the most iconic spots in the city, this stylish apartment offers modern 21st-century living within a classic building. 

Your host employed a team of designers to oversee its recent renovation. Inspired by mid-century design principles, they succeeded in creating a space that manages to be simultaneously contemporary and timeless. 

Organic shapes, geometric patterns and bright pops of colour add visual flair to the period bones of the building, with original features such as elegant arched windows that overhang the street below adding some charming eccentricity.

Step outside and you'll find yourself right in the thick of the action, just 100m from San Sebastian's bustling Old Town and the beautiful beachside Paseo de La Concha. It's an ideal location for anyone looking to discover the city's history and make the most of its renowned culinary scene. In fact, it's barely 500m to the nearest Michelin-starred establishment, with plenty of local bars serving sumptuous pintxos closer by.

Canto de Cisne

Tranquility is the watchword for this newly built apartment, which boasts an idyllic location right next to the stunningly ornate María Cristina Bridge and Urumea River. With this stellar location comes calming views of the city below, best enjoyed from the sofa in your airy, light-filled living space. Exploring from here is easy – the silky golden sands of La Concha are just a ten-minute walk away, along with the quaint streets of San Sebastian’s charming Old Town. Come dinner time, head out to the local tapas bars to sample some quintessential pintxos or whip up your own Basque feast in the well-equipped kitchen, which features state-of-the-art appliances (including a coffee maker to make mornings that much easier). After a busy day discovering the best of San Sebastian, settle in for a movie or to catch up on your favourite shows on the Smart TV.

Urumea Vista

This townhouse apartment, set over two floors, offers true style in the heart of San Sebastian. Walking distance to the Old Town, the restaurants, museums and coastline of San Sebastian are all a scenic stroll away. But you'll want to spend time here, a home so stylish it's almost editorial. It's full of statement pieces, with a colour palette mixing greys and pastels in stylish clean lines and modern upholstery. And you're just round the corner from the river, where walks under the Spanish sun are unforgettable.
