Cross the bridge and you’ll find yourself on the more traditional side of San Sebastian. The Beach of La Concha is home to the striking Belle Époque hotel and spa, La Perla. It offers excellent food and beautiful views of the golden sands. Head north into the city’s Old Town with its huge selection of pintxos restaurants and bars. Luckily, the walk home is short.

You couldn’t get closer to the beach – both the surfer’s haven Zurriola and the crescent-shaped La Concha are within a  ten-minute walk from this bright and airy apartment. This central home provides an idyllic base for a solo traveller, a couple, or close friends seeking a modern oasis right in the heart of San Sebastián’s Gros neighbourhood.
 
As soon as you arrive, you’ll immediately be struck by the amount of natural light pouring into the open living space. Curated with a minimalist eye for design, the kitchen sets a striking impression with its sleek white surfaces and mid-century-style breakfast table – perfect for a quick coffee before heading out for a day paddling the waves and absorbing the Basque sun. 

After a day in the waves, we know you’ll be seeking a rewarding dinner. We recommend Ganbara, just a fourteen-minute walk from your apartment, for their pilgrimage-worthy pintxos – the boletus mushrooms grilled a la plancha are lovingly coated in silky egg yolk, whilst the spider crab tartlet is particularly memorable. When you’re ready to wind down, fall into your soft sheets – the perfect way to end a salt-soaked day. 

Zen Zurriola

Guests looking for comfort will enjoy this home’s easy access to the beach, the lift to the second floor and the comfortable bedrooms. Adorned with film industry-inspired decor, there’s plenty of character at this home for four. However, guests who are particularly sensitive to noise may find this location too central, especially when the entire city is celebrating. After all, San Sebastian is famous for its staggering amount of festivals and cultural events, from the film festival to the Semana Grande. That said, the bedrooms are set back so you can always count on a good night’s sleep.

Amama

San Sebastián is a go-to destination for surf lovers and this apartment couldn’t be better placed to take on the waves. You can stroll straight across the street to Zurriola Beach or wander into the centre – sampling the city’s finest restaurants along the way. Your host can also help arrange a variety of extra services, including excursions and tours to make sure your stay is as memorable as can be. At capacity, one guest will need to sleep on the sofa bed in the living area and it’s likely you will might some street noise during your stay. But the rooms still offer a calm space to unwind and admire the views and take in the beauty of your privileged surroundings. 


The Marble Sea

Meticulously designed and ideally located within the city, this home is ripe for those who enjoy the finer things in life. With over one hundred metres of square footage, stunning contemporary interiors and plenty of original architectural features, this home is really something. Positioned in the ever-popular neighbourhood of Gros, you’re just a short walk from Zurriola Beach, colloquially known as Zurri. Famous for its impressive waves, it’s a surfer’s paradise and a vibrant and eclectic neighbourhood. A favourite amongst young people and keen adventurists, this area is home to numerous cultural institutions and venues, while still being close to all the city’s major attractions. From the apartment, it’s just a ten-minute walk to the Old Town, where you’ll be blown away by the sheer number of outstanding pintxos bars and restaurants. In San Sebastian, it’s essential to be hungry at all times because the food is unlike anywhere else.

Txangurro

Absolutely surrounded by cafes, bars, and restaurants, this stylish home in San Sebastián is a foodies idea of heaven. But you don’t need to be clued up on the difference between kale and cavolo nero to appreciate all that’s on offer here. The inside, for one, is a beautiful blend of crisp white and intricate patterns – a credit to the host, as it takes a trained eye to mix as many motifs without a clash. The sleek black kitchen sits in sharp contrast to the rest of the home and is pretty spacious, so if you do want to try and replicate some of the recipes you've come across, then we’re sure your family and friends would love to sample it around the dining table. 

From the lounge, you can keep an eye on the beachfront, but why not move a little closer with a glass of rioja and sit out on the balcony overlooking the Cantabrian Sea. Watching the sunset from here would undoubtedly be beautiful, but we recommend walking six minutes to the Sagües park known for sunset walks. 

Spend one whole day exploring Old Town – it is a thirty-minute walk to get there, but there are a couple of historical landmarks, as well as an observation deck that looks out over the ocean, that’s well worth the trip. When you’re not kicking back with cocktails at one of the bars, or sunbathing on the beach, you can wander the streets of San Sebastián, hoarding as many treats as possible. Take it all back home, kick back, and indulge as you let go of every last bit of stress.

The Terracotta Lookout

This modern apartment showcases the best of San Sebastián. For starters, the location is excellent. Zurriola Beach, the historic Old Town, and an array of trendy eateries are all just a stone's throw away. If the central setting doesn't sway you, we reckon the contemporary design back home will. The living space has plenty of room to stretch out, while the three bedrooms offer respite away from the group. There's also a well-appointed kitchen where you can whip up meals – though with pintxo bars on your doorstep, dining out is likely on the cards.

Zurriola Daze

You'll find this modern apartment in San Sebastián's lively Gros neighbourhood. It's the perfect location if sightseeing, sunbathing, and swimming in the sea are on your to-do list. Zurriola Beach is a five-minute stroll away, while the historic Old Town is walkable in ten. Back home, you can unwind after your adventures in style. We love the mix of stone and pine, which gives the otherwise contemporary-cool design some rustic flair. Our favourite feature is the en-suite bathroom, with a pink tub and rainfall shower ideal for long, luxurious soaks.

Basque Breeze

Amidst the Belle Époque buildings of San Sebastián, you’ll find this apartment waiting to welcome you with an abundance of style. Inside, the rooms have been thoughtfully designed with ease and simplicity in mind. There’s plenty of space across the living room and dining area for social gatherings, while the bedrooms make it easy to switch off and unwind. Outside, it’s a short stroll to La Concha Beach, while grocery stores, restaurants and cafes can all be found within walking distance.
