We don't throw around the term 'tropical oasis' very often, but the lush garden at this 300-year-old former farmhouse is more than deserving of the title. Brimming with mature shrubs, vibrant flowers and tall leafy trees, you'll want to spend all day, every day here basking in the Spanish sunshine and watching the palms sway. It's downright heavenly, and oodles of different seating nooks means you can follow the sun all day long. Start mornings off with an espresso on the rattan chairs, spend afternoons sprawled out on the outdoor sofa with a good book and end the evenings with a barbecue and a bottle of wine underneath the veranda.   

Even inside, you can make the most of the verdant scenery, thanks to huge floor-to-ceiling doors which open straight onto the garden. We love how bright and breezy the entire home is – whether you're cooking in the sleek kitchen, watching a movie on the smart TV, snuggling up in front of the wood-burner or snoozing in the comfortable bedrooms, the fresh air is only a few steps away. 

And the location is excellent, too. Nestled between Arrieta and Arrecife, you're just a ten-minute drive from gorgeous beaches, lively bars and mouth-watering eateries. Keep the botanical vibe going with a visit to the world-famous Cactus Garden – a thirteen-minute walk – or head to Playa del Jablillo, driveable in fifteen minutes, for snorkelling in the crystal clear waters.

Stays on the southern coast of Lanzarote are made even sweeter when you choose this elegant holiday home. Based in the marina village of Puerto Calero, just a stone's throw from a beautiful sandy beach, this home offers some breathtaking views of the ocean, both from the pool deck and through the floor-to-ceiling windows when you're inside.

Inside the home is warm and welcoming, with a large dining area where you can all tuck into delicious paellas and tapas together, as well as a lounge area for enjoying drinks and party games in the evenings. The outside is where the home truly shines though, with a pool with Roman steps, ideal for splashing around in the sun – as well as lots of poolside loungers where you can rest while you gaze out at the sea. Situated in the residential area of Faro Park, this home is 4 kilometres from the centre of Playa Blanca and just 400 metres from the seafront promenade. If you prefer to cool off in a swimming pool – there’s a private heated one here in the pretty garden with its palm trees and Canarian-style seating area. There are sea glimpses and mountain views from the balcony too. Inside, the villa is a bit dated in places, especially the kitchen, but that said, there’s plenty of space for family or friends to enjoy.

Once you're feeling energised and ready to take on the day, you've got Lanzarote's beautiful coastline to explore. If you want to stay close to home, the nearest beach is less than two kilometres away, but we highly recommend renting a car and heading to Papagayo. The white sandy coves and crystal clear waters make it with well worth the trip. 

When you get home from a day of exploring, winding down for the evening is easy when you're surrounded by a gorgeous garden. The outdoor kitchen is the perfect place to try cooking some local dishes on the barbecue or a delicious pizza in the pizza oven, followed by a few glasses of wine or even a cocktail prepared at the bar. If you prefer the company of a good book, then the exterior day bed is just for you, shaded from the sun, this cosy spot on the terrace is great for a midday snooze. We were blown away by the 18m pool, a glistening blue, and formed in a bubble shape. This pool really does capture your eye and is the ideal place for cooling off in the midday sun or splashing around with the kiddies. As an added bonus, the pool is heated free all year round. With sun loungers galore, you can enjoy days of endless sunbathing, as you top up your tan under the glistening sunshine. For that added spot of relaxation, there's a terrace hot tub boasting magnificent panoramic sea views across the Atlantic. Under the beam-covered terrace, you'll find cosy hammock chairs, rattan sofas, and a large dining table. For alfresco cooking, there's an outdoor kitchen, complete with a pizza oven, brick-built BBQ, oven, hob and fridge. Enjoy cooking up a feast alfresco style amongst friends and family. Serve up a traditional Paella or an array of Tapas for all to enjoy? For the big kids out there, there's even a pool table for your own entertainment.

Inside, the property is furnished to a high standard, with bohemian and chic style furniture and a high-end kitchen. The ground floor is where we find most of the rooms, including the comfy living room with smart TV and four spacious bedrooms. The master bedroom has a king-size bed, with direct access to the patio terrace, and a large ensuite bathroom, with double vanity and a relaxing bathtub. There are a further three bedrooms on the ground floor, another ensuite and two twin bedrooms. All ground-floor bedrooms feature cool air conditioning. A spiral staircase leads down to the lower ground floor, here we find the last bedroom, with a ceiling fan and access to a private ensuite. There's also a second lounge on this floor, making it ideal for those wanting a little extra space on family holidays.

Sun seekers rejoice – this coastal home in Lanzarote offers a multitude of outdoor spaces in which to soak up those rays. Although this home comprises a lower-ground as well as a ground floor, it still feels full of light, while its lounging terrace, daybed and sociable brick-built barbecue and alfresco dining areas, not to mention private pool, mean you’re bound to spend the majority of your time outside in any case. What’s more, situated on the outskirts of popular Playa Blanca you’re guaranteed an evening’s entertainment – buzzy bars, live music venues and seafront restaurants are only a 20-minute walk away.

Situated in a lovely location, Sunset Serenade has glorious views from the first-floor terrace where you can see the sea by day or enjoy watching the sun set in the evening. Equipped with a brick-built BBQ, you can cook up a storm in the outdoor kitchen area, ready to enjoy a feast with your nearest and dearest in the lovely alfresco dining area. There is plenty to keep you entertained in Blissful Retreat, but if you feel like heading out, you're not too far from the beautiful sandy beach and the strip of shops and bars that line it.

Paradise Delight

Ideal for families, this home even has a children’s room set up with a London bus-style bunk bed. While such features mean this villa probably won’t appeal to child-free groups, there’s a lot to talk about here. The gym and sauna are a nice addition to a home that already boasts a remarkable pool – it wraps around the villa and has a sunken hot tub at one end. There’s table tennis and a dining table that converts into a pool table, so you know it’ll be popular with big kids too.

Make the most of the sunshine by lounging poolside, leaving your book behind to slip into the crystal clear water of the private pool whenever sunbathing gets a little hot. 

After a lazy morning, you might head out to explore the island. The beach is only a walk away, and if you're feeling particularly adventurous, you might even try your hand at the watersports on offer. There's also the potential for deep sea fishing and other island excursions that'll give you the full island experience, but be sure not to miss Puerto del Carmen. It still has the charm of an old fishing village, but with plenty of restaurants where you can get an authentic taste of Lanzarote. 

Make your way back home in time for sunset drinks on the rooftop bar and spend the rest of the evening chatting under the stars with a glass of wine. 

The White Canary

Situated on Lanzarote's Playa Blanca resort, this villa places you close to beaches, restaurants and shops. A car isn't necessary, but you'll want to hire one if you're looking to explore more of the island, including the gorgeous Timanfaya National Park. With all rooms on a single level, this home is easily accessible with no need to climb stairs. The private pool can be heated at an additional cost, and the sun loungers and outdoor kitchen make this home great for relaxing and socialising.

With a heated swimming pool and private terrace, this villa in Puerto Calero is a perfect place to relax and rejuvenate in the Canarian sun. We'd say the interior is pretty traditional – chances are, it won't be for everyone – but design aside, the single-level layout inside works well for families. Location-wise, it's a short drive to Puerto del Carmen, where waterfront restaurants and lively beaches await. For a getaway on the Lanzarote coast, it’ll do the trick.

A gorgeous pool and a shaded alfresco area await guests at this large home in southern Lanzarote – perfect for that long-awaited friend reunion or family getaway. While the bedrooms and living room are perfectly functional, if a little light on colour and design, it's the outdoor area that'll get you excited. Walk through the town, stopping at the many markets on the way till you reach the stunning Old Town Harbour. Settle in for a feast of tapas and delicious local wines. Once you're through, explore the many beaches around, some bustling and others introspective. If you ever tire yourself out, escape with a taxi boat to Puerto Calero Marina, and uncover a more upmarket take on the beach life.

Sitting high above the Atlantic Ocean, this modern marvel is the ideal hideaway in Lanzarote. An extensive terrace makes the most of the view – whether you're enjoying a swim in the infinity pool, dining alfresco on fresh-caught seafood or taking a dip in the hot tub under the stars, you'll be able to feast your eyes on the rolling waves. The interior shows off the scenery as well, thanks to floor-to-ceiling patio doors that flood each room with natural light. Location-wise, Puerto del Carmen's old town harbour is a sixteen-minute stroll away, where you can enjoy dinner and drinks at the array of restaurants right on the waterfront. The area's sprawling beaches are also within walking distance – it's just twenty-three minutes on foot to Playa Blanca if you're keen to sunbathe on the sand.

Alright, All Night

You'll have plenty of opportunities to bask in the Canarian sunshine at this villa in Montaña Roja. Between the private pool (which can be heated for an added charge), indoor pool table and outdoor ping-pong table, dull moments are few and far between. Although the bathrooms are a little dated and some of the furniture is a tad traditional for our tastes, there's a good amount of space both inside and out for the whole family to feel comfortable. It's also in a very convenient location. A few restaurants, bars and shops are within walking distance, while Playa Blanca's expansive beach is a short drive away.

Roja Rising

Minimal but practical, you’ll find the best bits of this home in the outdoor areas. The pool space is a suntrap with plenty of room for all guests to relax in. On the terrace, there’s a lovely outdoor dining is with two stone barbecues perfect for some family time in the sun, plus a hot tub, too. You’ve also got a comfy balcony with views of the neighbourhood. On top of that, this home is a short walk from the beaches, bars and restaurants of Playa del Carmen.

Canary Wish

This Puerto del Carmen villa is situated a short drive from Old Town Harbour, waterfront eateries and sandy beaches. Inside may be traditional in style, but it doesn't lack space – and with all the bedrooms on the ground floor, it would work well for guests with limited mobility. On the lower level, a ping-pong table will keep kids entertained, while the beamed loft upstairs makes for a lovely reading nook. That said, it's the terrace that caught our attention. With its private pool, dappled dining area and comfy lounge chairs, it's no wonder you'll spend most of your time here outside, soaking up the Canarian sun.

Carmen Canary

This three-bedroom home’s enclosed garden and pretty pergola are charming. While the interiors are functional and fuss-free rather than overly fancy, this home is all about its outdoor offering, which includes a private pool, a brick-built barbecue and an alfresco dining area. Location-wise getting out and about is a breeze. When it’s time for dinner and drinks we suggest heading into Marina Rubicón, the heart of Playa Blanca, where you’ll find a variety of local gourmet restaurants and lounge bars.

This sleek villa is located in Los Mojones and shows off modern design at its finest. White walls reflect the natural light ushered in through the floor-to-ceiling glass, while grey furnishings seep a sense of calm into the home. After a busy day exploring the Puerto del Carmen coastline, the comfortable chaise leather sofa invites you to kick back and relax with a book and a glass of wine in the evenings, before you take your pick of bedrooms, each with terrace access, to settle down for the night. 

Sunny days will be spent poolside, soaking up the Spanish sun from the comfort of your lounger with a cocktail in hand. For a little respite from the heat of the day, sink into the refreshing water of the private pool where you’re afforded total privacy, courtesy of the lava rock wall encapsulating the garden. If you start to feel a little peckish, fear not – there’s a barbecue which promises a delightful alfresco meal, all you need is someone to take charge and get grilling.

When it’s time to head out to explore, a ten-minute stroll will see you wandering the quaint streets of the old town and harbour, or if you fancy a beach day, it’s just a fifteen-minute walk from your home-away-from-home.

As such, guests are encouraged to use this space to its fullest potential, cooling off after a busy day of exploring everything that this incredible region has to offer. In addition, this property is home to an admirable selection of outdoor terraces, ensuring that guests can indulge in a refreshing glass of wine as they bask in the inspiring sights that sit close by. Inside, this property adheres to a very charming theme, helping to build a deeply inviting and charismatic villa. The living room hosts a trio of rich blue velvet sofas, all of which have been paired with an array of unique scatter cushions. Thus, this is a perfect space for guests to kick back and relax as they catch up on their favourite shows on the flatscreen TV that sits at the back of the room. The dining area follows a much more simplistic theme, sporting a slim wooden table and an accompanying collection of white chairs. In turn, guests can use this space to enjoy a wealth of amazing meals as they continue to form cherished memories together as a group. Even better, the beach is less than 2 kilometres away if you want to swap this home's pool for the sea. Back home, there's plenty to keep all your family and friends entertained, including an outdoor pool table, hot tub, and PlayStations (available to hire for a fee). Inside, the picture window in the open-plan living space looks out over an internal courtyard enclosed by a volcanic stone wall. It's also spread out across the ground floor, which we know parents and older guests will appreciate.

Set in the charming old town of Puerto del Carmen, just a short stroll from the old harbour – this home is close to an array of restaurants, bars and designer shops. Back at the villa, there are plenty of entertainment options for the whole family. Relax by the pool, while the kids enjoy the children's pool, or chill out in the hot tub. Probably the highlight for us, though, is the games room with its pool table, air hockey, cross trainer, and games console with accessories and games. One thing to note, there are two annexes here, which might suit members of the group who want more privacy –  they both have one bedroom and bathroom each with external access only.
