Right on the beachfront at La Canteras, this home has a fabulous spot. Take in the fantastic Atlantic and La Canteras Beach views from this home’s sunny and dazzling whitewashed terrace. You can even spot Mount Teide in Tenerife in the distance. We love this outdoor space, it's ideal for an alfresco breakfast (whizz up a drink in the juicer to accompany some churros). Later, do some sunbathing on the sun loungers. Inside, there are more of those fabulous vistas through the large sliding doors.

In the afternoon, perhaps head to La Canteras  Beach, under a minute stroll away. It’s one of the best urban beaches in the world, and there are plenty of cafes and restaurants to sample in the vicinity too. Or, for a bit of culture, Las Palmas Cathedral is a ten-minute ride away. It’s a couple of minutes more to Casa-Museo de Colón, which documents Columbus’ voyages.

This home is a rare find – it has a peaceful and private setting, and yet it's just a few minutes walk from the historic city of La Orotava. Surrounded by a plantation of avocados, relax on the multiple terraces (five no less), cool off from the Tenerife sun in the infinity waterfall pool with its Atlantic Ocean vistas or unwind in the hot tub. 

We love the professionally designed gardens – our favourite spot is the yoga/meditation corner –  very zen. There's a fantastic outdoor kitchen, too – cook up a feast while you enjoy the fabulous views of Mount Teide, the forests and hills. As sunset arrives, pick some mint for your mojitos from the herb garden or feel free to pick a lemon for your G&T. As the light continues to fade, gather around the designer fire pit. 

Or, on cooler evenings, cosy up in front of the wood-burning stove indoors. Here, you'll find gorgeous beamed, vaulted ceilings, as well as original pictures and sculptures.

There's plenty to do out and about too. Hire a bike and explore the terrain (many professional cycling teams train here). If you prefer something a bit less energetic, there are three golf courses within easy reach, including one designed by Seve Ballestros. The nearest beach is 3 kilometres away, along with the popular resort beaches and Lido in Puerto de la Cruz, while La Orotava has an array of cafes, shops, bars and restaurants within walking distance.

This practical studio apartment boasts sea views and is just steps from the capital's stunning Las Canteras Beach. The crisp, contemporary interiors of the home and building would perfectly suit guests visiting the city for work or couples looking for a fuss-free stay. Don't let its studio apartment set-up put you off – the space is well-equipped with a modern kitchen and obligatory coffee pod machine for morning brews. The only downside for some would be the lack of outdoor space, but we can forgive that when the sandy shores are so close.

The amenities may be more basic than refined, but everything is all in order, with the living area making room for a dining table and flowing into a well-equipped kitchen. The sleeping areas are cosy and agreeable, as is the bathroom, while the private balcony is a pleasant addition catching plenty of sun. You'll be moments from the neighbourhood's popular bars and restaurants, while you'll also have the choice of Melenara to the north and Salineta to the south for a relaxing and unique day at the beach.

This eco-friendly studio apartment is situated just moments away from the Las Canteras beach, making it a good base for a couple or a solo traveller. Thanks to the central location, a car is not essential here, as you’ll have plenty of shopping and dining options to choose from within walking distance. Public transport options are also excellent if you want to explore further afield. The pad may be compact in size but there’s enough space here for two guests to be comfortable, and with good internet speed, you can also catch up on work during your stay – although you'll have to set-up shop around the dining table since there isn't a desk.

If you like to start your day with a workout, you needn't disrupt your routine here as there's a fully-equipped home gym for you to use whenever you like.

Once you're feeling energised and ready to take on the day, you've got Lanzarote's beautiful coastline to explore. If you want to stay close to home, the nearest beach is less than two kilometres away, but we highly recommend renting a car and heading to Papagayo. The white sandy coves and crystal clear waters make it with well worth the trip. 

When you get home from a day of exploring, winding down for the evening is easy when you're surrounded by a gorgeous garden. The outdoor kitchen is the perfect place to try cooking some local dishes on the barbecue or a delicious pizza in the pizza oven, followed by a few glasses of wine or even a cocktail prepared at the bar. End the night with a long bubble bath, or if you're looking for a little privacy, one of the bedrooms has its own terrace which is ideal for enjoying some peace and quiet.

Looking for a smart bolthole in the heart of the capital that’s just footsteps from the beach? This fresh and contemporary apartment ticks the right boxes. Despite its studio set-up, the kitchen is well equipped to rustle up meals. Although, with the seafront tavernas close by for tapas in the evening sunshine, we suspect you might be eating out a lot. And while there’s no outdoor space to speak of, we don’t think you’ll mind with the famous Las Canteras Beach just 20 metres from your door.

Internal and external stairs lead up to the ground floor, where we find the remaining two bedrooms, another double and twin room with access to a separate shower room. There's a further living room and a full kitchen on this level, as well as indoor dining facilities. As an added bonus, this villa also has an upper terrace that leads off the ground floor and overlooks the pool area."

Blissful Beach Haven

Set just a few steps from the capital’s stunning Las Canteras Beach, the location of this modern studio apartment is bang on. When thoughts turn to food, there are heaps of tapas bars and restaurants in the buzzy streets below. Or rustle something up back at the apartment – despite its studio set-up, the kitchen is well-equipped for cosy evening meals. The lack of outdoor space might not appeal to some, but we can let that slide with the beach and seafront bars so close to serenade the evening sun.

Part of a newly built apartment complex, this contemporary home has been thoughtfully designed to make the most of the studio space. Floor-to-ceiling windows reveal a glimpse of the sea, and the bedroom area is cleverly zoned to give a little separation. The only thing this place doesn’t offer is outdoor space. But with the beach, seafront bars, and restaurants so close, don’t let that be the deal breaker.

Inside, the villa is a bit dated in places, especially the kitchen, but that said, there’s plenty of space for family or friends to enjoy.

It's an excellent spot for snorkelling, sunbathing and swimming in the Atlantic Ocean – we bet you'll spend every afternoon stretched out on the sand, watching the waves. If you fancy a bit of sightseeing, take a three-minute stroll over to Castillo de la Luz – a 16th-century fortress that now exhibits artwork – followed by a meal at one of the fantastic restaurants on your doorstep.

When you've had your fill of exploring, we think this light-filled flat is the perfect space to relax. Don't let the size fool you – it has everything you'll need and plenty of stylish features to boot. There's a modern kitchen with plenty of room to rustle up Spanish omelettes for breakfast and tapas for dinner, a lavish walk-in shower with a rainfall feature and a cosy turquoise sofa where you can kick off your shoes and unwind with a glass of Spanish vino.
