Not far from the Spanish border you’ll find Perpignan, a classified City of Art and History – thanks to its roots as a former Majorcan capital – and home to this eclectic apartment. It’s only fitting that the bold interior echoes elements of both Spanish and French flair as an ode to its surroundings. The result is a vibrant space that honours natural wood and rattan but also puts more opulent touches front and centre. 

Spend your time here unwinding with an early-morning coffee on the balcony or by reading on the sunny sofa. Gather around the kitchen island after lunch to pour the wine, snacking as you chat. 

When you wander out, you’ll find Spanish influences in the Cathedral of Saint-Jean-Baptiste and the majestic promenade des Platanes. Take holiday photos in front of the many ancient buildings and sit down to eat at one of the local restaurants or cafes. Head to the beach – Plage du Lido lies at the other end of a short drive, or tee off at Golf de Saint-Cyprien.

Sliding doors surround the living area, flooding the white- and sand-hued room with sunshine. Push the doors open to relax on the wraparound balcony – prime position goes to the sun loungers and small breakfast table, which look directly over the waves. When you get too warm, wander down to the communal pool to cool off. Interiors are simple, with earthy, neutral tones in bedrooms – think swirling terracotta browns and clay reds on walls, with unique Japanese-style beds in two of the rooms. Both of the dining tables look on to beautiful vistas, though for a sea breeze, head out to the alfresco space – perfect for cool glasses of wine and star gazing.

Nestled in the coastal village of Calella de Palafrugell, a scenic walk from the golden sands of El Golfet beach, this villa promises an exceptional stay – especially since you'll have a House Manager and housekeeping team looking after you. Inside, the bedrooms all have their own en-suites and dressing rooms (spread over three floors), plus there's a lift down to the basement where you'll find an independent suite and a professional cinema. Yes, the cinema is impressive, but we expect you'll spend most of your time here outdoors, where there's plenty of space for swimming and soaking up the sun. And just look at that view – it speaks for itself.

Situated in the charming Catalan village of Sant Mori, this elegant apartment is perfect for a small family or for couples visiting this picturesque area. Nestled amongst the Mediterranean woodland, this former 13th-century farmhouse is located between the foothills of the Pyrenees and the Spanish border. The well-designed interiors reflect the Catalan heritage, and the building benefits from ground-floor bedrooms and en-suites. Outside living is where this home shines – whether you want to unwind by the swimming pool, explore the gardens or enjoy a glass of Byrrh, a local aperitif on the terrace. The location suits those eager to explore the woodland, but the beaches aren't too far away either.

The countryside around this grand, Catalan mansion looks like a painting with verdant green forests meeting wildflower meadows. The view from the arched windows of the living room, across the green hills to the shimmering Mediterranean Sea, is a reminder that you’re just a ten-minute drive from the coast here. A day at the beach is possible at the secret bays of Cala del Crit and Cala el Golfet, both sandy coves hidden between the cliffs.

But we wouldn’t blame you if you ended up spending all your time at this luxurious, old-world villa instead. Sun terraces and shaded nooks offer sunseekers and wallflowers alike a place to spend the day. The fountain-fed Roman swimming pool invites you for a dip on a hot day and, wandering the expansive grounds, you’ll stumble across a tennis court and games area with ping pong. Outdoor dining is a treat with a huge table for the whole group in front of the summer kitchen and, if you’re hosting a special event, a marquee can be set up on the lawn.

The foundations of this home date back to the 14th century, and inside you can still get a feel for the medieval in the vaulted basement where you’ve got your own private spa. Down here, there’s an indoor swimming pool, steam room and sauna. Various lounges and sitting rooms allow the whole group to spread out and our favourite has to be the Rib-vaulted grand lounge with its Baroque painted ceiling harking back to a bygone era. Perhaps spend the evening taking it back to analogue in the library or snooker room.

Gaudi might be famous for his work in Barcelona, but that hasn't stopped this home taking inspiration from the famous Catalan architect. A 200-year-old farmhouse has been turned into a slick, white-washed hangout. Modernist influences are seen in the rounded walls, arched doorways, and buckled pillars. The living room is far out, from the white pool and foosball tables to the huge semi-circular sofa. The master suite is the most impressive, sending out spaceship vibes with its round bed, droplet shaped fireplace and spacious curved bath. But not even the slinky interiors can compete with Mother Nature, as views over the hills and out to the sea abound from every angle. The garden has been planted with bougainvillea, which showers archways and dining tables with pink blossoms when it blooms. For special occasions, head to the home's club room, complete with a DJ hut and incredible sound system. Life will feel pretty amazing floating in the infinity pool or sipping cocktails on the terrace.

Sleeping twenty-six guests across two stone houses, there’s space for everyone to gather in this home – with plenty of privacy too, thanks to the ten en-suite bedrooms. Interiors are rustic chic, and while there’s no air conditioning, thick stone walls keep rooms naturally cool. Outside, the expansive grounds are the perfect spot for soaking up the view, with everything you need to disconnect. When hunger strikes, your private chef will be on hand to serve lunch and dinner, with supplies from your on-site vegetable garden. In fact, you'll have a whole team of staff at your disposal here – from pastry chefs to sommeliers and more. And the kids haven't been forgotten about, either. Swimming pool? Tick. Trampoline? Tick. Standing in the heart of the Les Gavarres Natural Park, this former farmstead sits amidst oak forests and idyllic nature. Renovated using local materials, the home's rustic charm makes a fantastic backdrop to a family reunion, while the private garden offers stunning landscape views. While the pool is shared with the owners, it's still a great addition – set in the large garden and surrounded by trees, you'll feel the seclusion here. When you start to miss civilization, though, you're just 15 minutes from La Bisbal d'Empordà, a town with shops and eateries, and close to some of Costa Brava's most beautiful beaches.

Say hello to one very swanky cube. Just a ten-minute drive from Lloret de Mar with its world-class beaches and electric nightlife, this home offers you peace and tranquillity while still being close to the action. Inside, you’ll find wooden floors, cool, contemporary furnishings and vibrant pops of colour that brilliantly offset the whitewashed walls. The real wow factor is the living space’s wrap-around floor-to-ceiling windows though – take in views over Canyelles’ shimmering bay from your sofa, or better yet, head to the upstairs terrace to enjoy breakfast while feasting on the vistas. Afternoons call for lazing by the pool and soaking up the sun on one of the many loungers, while the little ones will love the play area and the dedicated children’s bedroom full of soft toys. Drive less than ten minutes to sandy Platja de Canyelles to dip your toes in the sea before coming back home for a soak in the sunken tub followed by a barbecue feast. When it’s time to turn in, watch the moon rise over the hills from the bedroom’s letterbox windows or private terraces before falling into a wonderfully peaceful night’s sleep.
