We would love to spend some time every day here strolling around the beautiful Retiro Park which used to belong to the Spanish Monarchy until it was opened up to the public to enjoy in the late nineteenth century. Wander through the green space, admiring the fountains and statues of Spaniards before taking a break in one of the open-air cafes. 

Hop on public transport to explore even more sights and attractions of Madrid, including the Plaza Mayor – reachable in twenty-nine minutes. Then, after a busy day, dine at one of the restaurants in the neighbourhood which are within a four-minute walk. This is a quirky apartment tucked behind Atocha station. The bold style decisions, including a coral photo print on the pillows, or a fish chandelier (you can see a theme forming), might not be to everyone's taste, but they certainly make this home unique. The Sea Change is comfortable, bright, and it has a balcony that's been converted into a study. Although slightly farther away from the museums, all the sights around Retiro are still accessible on foot and the area around Atocha hides tonnes of great restaurants and cafes.

This unique, super stylish home stands opposite Madrid's beautiful Retiro Park, in the (somewhat confusingly named) Ibiza neighbourhood. In a traditional building but fully modernised inside, you'll have that perfect mix of period features and contemporary furnishings – think high ceilings, tall Juliet balconies and wood floors. There's a huge, structural steel beam running through the centre of the open-layout living and dining space and it just fits in with the styling perfectly, acting as a handy room divider. On one side you'll find the cosy sofa, desk space and a wall of shelves, while the other is reserved for relaxed dining at home on trendy chairs made from metal and bamboo.

There's an excellent kitchen with a couple of stools so you can hang out and chat while you're cooking, and it's not short of equipment so you can really go to town if you feel like throwing a mini dinner party. Three bedrooms make it perfect for a family or a group of friends, and there's a handy office space if you'll be working during your stay.

Surrounded by great bars and restaurants, and just steps from the lush green park, it's a lovely neighbourhood just minutes from the nearest Metro station for easy access to the rest of the city.

Design lovers will appreciate the style and tone of this apartment. It’s also well suited to remote workers with a dedicated office and a private internal terrace – perfect for a refreshing break. We have to say, we love the views over Plaza Villa de París from this home. The kitchen is well-equipped, so you can cook some homemade meals or let your host arrange a private chef to create some of your favourite tapas dishes.

Located right in the centre of Madrid within walking distance of its cultural treasures, this apartment is its own gallery of miscellaneous wonders perched high above the pavements. Starting from the fuzzy caterpillar-like chaise lounge in the living room that sets the eclectic glamorous tone, this home puts just about everything in the mix, from boldly patterned wallpaper and towering palm plants to the Asian dresser in the living area and the bright blue countertop. It's fair to say that we loved it. A small balcony in one of the bedrooms was the cherry on the cake and is perfect for when you want a blast of fresh air on a stuffy afternoon. If you want to head out exploring, Museo Nacional del Prado is just over ten minutes' walk away, while Palacio de Cristal in the middle of Parque de el Retiro takes around twenty-five.
