Or, a five-minute walk will take you to one of Madrid's most famous streets, Gran Vía. Watch a production at the Teatro EDP Gran Vía or have lunch at one of its many eateries. Alternatively, the iconic Plaza del Dos de Mayo is a fifteen-minute wander. Here, you'll find plenty of bars, as well as a lively weekend market for fresh produce.  

Take some goodies back to this elegant apartment and whip up a bocadillo de calamares (calamari sandwich) in the sleek, white kitchen and enjoy it at the dining table with its plush green velvet chairs. We love the French doors to the balcony – they allow so much light in, and the views are fantastic. Plants give this place a homely feel, while modern prints enliven the white walls – this home is ideal for two couples or a family wanting plenty of attractions within easy walking distance.

Two sweet balconies look out onto the typically graffitied streets of trendy Malasaña neighbourhood, and a tonne of quirky cafes, bakeries, restaurants and vintage shops are all close by. Ideal for a younger crowd, it's a ten-minute walk to central Gran Via, and fifteen to the busy Puerta del Sol.

Nestled in the heart of Madrid, this penthouse apartment is an ideal base for a family or small group of friends on a Spanish stay. We love the contemporary light-filled living space, and there’s plenty of room for everyone to spread out here. But the cherry on the cake? It has to be the private terrace. A sun-kissed spot to sip sangria and gaze out across the city – what’s not to love? And when the vistas draw you out to explore, this home’s proximity to Atocha, Delicias, and Palos de la Frontera metro stations makes sightseeing a breeze.

Outside your front door, you’ll find yourself in a prime spot from which to explore, with world-famous museums, iconic landmarks and excellent restaurants and bars all on your doorstep. 

Wallpaper Dreams 

What a great location this apartment has in Madrid. The Royal Palace is just seven minutes on foot, while the Almudena Cathedral and the Plaza Mayor are within walking distance, too. As you'd expect from such a central location, you will hear some city noise while staying here. After all that exploring, you can sit in this home's shared courtyard and get your breath back. Inside, we love the living area's double-height ceilings and galleried landing, and there's a desk here if you need to catch up on work. We'd say the adjacent ground-floor bedroom isn't fully private, as it's a cubicle room with three-quarter-height walls – otherwise, this is a great home for couples, a family or business colleagues.

The City Butterfly

There’s a wonderful sense of balance to this home – it’s the kind of space that makes you feel instantly at ease. And with its location in the Chueca neighbourhood, it’s the perfect setting to experience the inspiring energy of the city. 

Just a three–minute walk from Gran Via, there’s an atmospheric presence to this home that makes you want to slow down and savour the details. From the signature Spanish tones to the art and objects, the space brings a quiet beauty to the ordinary moments of daily living. And whether you’re preparing drinks in the kitchen or gathering around the table, there’s a lightness to this apartment that feels refreshing. 

Outside, the streets of Cheuca brimming with sidewalk cafes, tapas bars and restaurants, while the wonderful market of Plaza del Dos de Mayo is only a thirteen–minute walk away.

A literal stone’s throw from Madrid’s beating heart (the Plaza Mayor), it doesn’t get more central than this apartment. You’re on the edge of the square where pavement cafés spill out onto the cobbles and the porticoed buildings date back to the 16th century when this was the centre of Old Madrid. The surrounded streets are packed with late-night tapas joints and buzzing bars. Or, head to the fresh produce and street food market, Mercado de San Miguel, a three-minute walk away to bring back some tasty local treats to your bijou abode.

It may be a studio, but the full kitchen is tucked away from the bedroom and living area in its own, modern enclave. So you can turn fresh veg, olives and artisan goods into a feast for two with ease. The living area is pristine white and brightened further by sunlight streaming through traditional, French-style windows. Open these up to create a Juliet-style balcony, perfect for people-watching in the buzzing square below. 

The Mayor's Daughter

Simplicity is at the fore when it comes to Windcomb. The sense of space is not something to be taken for granted, either. Eight people, and not a sofa bed in sight. Unfortunately, it’s rather common for unscrupulous landlords to try to shoehorn people in, but that’s certainly not the case here. It’s a bit of a pain to have to climb up the steps, but that’s an occupational risk when you test so many homes in old buildings – it’s hardly a dealbreaker.


Windcomb

Bright, modern and boasting incredible views over the city from its large picture windows, this apartment between Madrid’s Salamanca and Chamberí neighbourhoods is an ideal base for those looking to make the most out of the city’s cultural sights. 
 
A soft muted colour palette is offset by bright pops of colour in the living area’s decorative rug and leafy houseplants, with the city just outside creating a dazzling backdrop from your ninth-floor vantage point. Make yourself at home on the comfortable sofa – a glass of Spanish wine in hand – or gather together at the table for an intimate soirée when you’re not out sampling the local tapas bars. 
 
The bedroom is a pared-back yet stylish affair with equally gorgeous views over Plaza de Colón (a three-minute walk away), while the sleek bathroom is a treat to wake up to with its tower shower that will get any day off to a relaxing start. 
 
When you’re ready to venture out for some sightseeing, walk four minutes to visit the National Archaeological Museum or take a stroll through El Retiro Park, a thirteen-minute stroll away. You’re also a fourteen-minute walk from bustling Gran Vía – known for its shops and striking architecture – while the famous ​​Museo Nacional del Prado is twenty minutes on foot from your door.


Capricho Azul

If you're looking for a home that combines a chic aesthetic with an excellent location, then this is the place for you. Located in the Salamanca district of Madrid, the apartment reflects its stylish surroundings perfectly – for fans of the finer things in life, it doesn't get better than this. 

The large French windows bathe the whole living space in natural light, and there are two inter-connected living areas, so everyone has space to relax in style. The interior design is modern yet classic – you'll love the ornamental fireplace, patterned rug, and carefully considered pops of colour. The kitchen is kitted out with everything you need to whip up some of your favourite Spanish dishes, and there's even a little balcony where you can enjoy a morning coffee or evening sundowner in the fresh air. 

Head outside to explore the 19th-century streets of Salamanca and admire the gorgeous architecture as you get to know the neighbourhood – it's one of the most desirable in all of the city. The nearby Golden Mile is home to many boutiques where you can treat yourself to designer pieces, and the upscale food market Platea Madrid is just eight minutes away. And, with Velázquez metro station just one minute away, you can get around the rest of the city quickly and easily. 

Twist Of Lime

Molten Brass is neat and tidy. There isn’t a lot that jumps out at you, but that’s not necessarily a problem – the atmosphere inside is pretty calm. That stands in contrast to the atmosphere on the street below, which is pretty intense, but that’s because you’re in the heart of Malasaña, so there’s tonnes to do. As is common with any flat that is rented out all the time, there’s a lack of personality but the attention to detail, and generally pleasant, if simple, design help make the flat feel more homely.


Molten Brass

Whether you're visiting Madrid for work, to catch up with family, or simply want to enjoy everything the city has to offer, this apartment is an excellent place to drop your bags. Situated in the Salamanca district, this smart spot reflects its sophisticated location perfectly – we think you'll feel at home in no time at all.  

Step inside, and you'll notice the abundance of natural light flowing in through the large windows, and the tranquil ambiance throughout. The open-plan layout maximises space and makes it easy to chat with your guests while you cook, eat and relax. You'll love the plush velvet sofa and luxurious details, like the statement lighting and marble bathroom.
