Found in Madrid's vibrant Tetuán neighbourhood, you'll have your pick of international cuisine and hip bars here. Central Madrid is just twenty minutes away via nearby Tetuán station too, so all of the city's attractions are within reach. Don't get us wrong, though – it's not all about location here. The open-plan living space is ideal for mingling, and the small balcony allows couples to enjoy a little privacy with a glass of wine. With three bathrooms, morning routines are a breeze, and the small kitchen has everything you need for hearty breakfasts or light snacks.

When you see as many flats as we do, you learn very quickly to tell which homes have been done up for convenience, and which are a labour of love. Toquilla clearly falls into the latter category. It’s been designed as a whole, with thought and attention put into the schemes, as well as the materials. We particularly liked the concrete pillars and the glass walls, neither of which are especially common in Madrid. The only real complaint we have is the fake plants – They’re understandable for the convenience, but really, most places would be better off without anything.

This apartment is located in the sought-after Salamanca neighbourhood, known for its designer shopping, fine-dining restaurants, and nightlife. For culture, there’s the Lázaro Galdiano Museum, a short walk away, while the National Archaeological Museum is also within walking distance. This stylish home is set over two floors and has an open-plan living area ideal for entertaining. We think this home is perfect for a group of friends or a family looking for a comfortable place to stay in vibrant Madrid.

This modern apartment trades in centuries of history for bright and shiny interiors (you’ve got plenty of history outside). Naturally, the living space features two huge glass doors leading you to a private balcony facing on to the celebrated square. Two guests will be sleeping on a sofa bed in the living room, so things might feel a little crowded – you’re unlikely to be spending much time at home though.

We challenge you to find a prettier apartment overlooking the Royal Palace of Madrid. This place is a real showstopper, with twin Juliet balconies opening over Plaza de Oriente Gardens. Bold, bright and just downright beautiful, it's dripping in character thanks to ornate cornice, traditional shuttered windows and classical furnishing. A riot of elegant colours and patterns, it couldn't be further from modern minimalism if it tried.

Once you've arrived and stared out of the window for long enough to take it all in, choose between the two pretty bedrooms – one decorated in calming greens, the other in vibrant terracotta. There's a grand, open-plan living space to keep everything sociable, and a kitchen with everything you'll need for cooking at home. But we suspect you'll be eating out much of the time – it would be rude not to when surrounded by some of the best cafes and restaurants in the city. And with most of the major attractions on your doorstep too, you'll have plenty to see and do.

It's genuinely cosy and comfortable and the original artwork on the walls gives it a distinctly homey vibe. Two sweet balconies look out onto the typically graffitied streets of trendy Malasaña neighbourhood, and a tonne of quirky cafes, bakeries, restaurants and vintage shops are all close by. Ideal for a younger crowd, it's a ten-minute walk to central Gran Via, and fifteen to the busy Puerta del Sol.

Located in the north-most part of Salamanca, El Bodegón combines a sense of luxury and with a prime shopping destination of the nearby Calle Serrano (and the proximity to the sights). This is a luxuriously comfortable home that made us want to sink into the comfy sofa and rest, or enjoy a great book on the closed balcony. The master bathroom, as pretty as it is, feels a bit narrow, but it's still well-equipped and comfortable.

This chic apartment in Barcelona's Eixample district enjoys a central location and a Juliet balcony. Well-behaved pets are welcome to join you for an additional fee, and there's a dedicated desk for remote work. You'll be an easy walk from the bustling Plaça de Catalunya, while hotspots like Ciutadella Park and Barceloneta Beach can be easily reached via public transport. Toiletries aren't provided here, but the location places you close to a range of shops for stocking up, as well as restaurants for eating out.

Casa Sacra

This chic and attractive apartment has everything you might need for a comfortable city break. It’s located in Chueca, one of Madrid’s liveliest neighbourhoods, full of cafes, boutiques, and bars. Despite its central location, this is a peaceful home-from-home, ideal for unwinding after busy sightseeing days and evenings spent feasting on tapas. It’s bright and welcoming, flooded with light, and has been beautifully decorated in muted tones. Two guests will sleep on a sofa bed in the living room – if you’re hoping for more space, we’d recommend a maximum occupancy of two. 

The Bohemian Retreat

Just a ten-minute walk from Plaza Mayor, this stylish flat isn't messing about when it comes to location. Interesting museums, high-end shopping and many of Madrid's must-see landmarks are a quick stroll away – including Puerta del Sol, Parque de El Retiro and Palacio Real de Madrid, just to name a few. If you love trying new cuisine, you're in luck – this neighbourhood has an array of delectable restaurants and lively bars to while away the evenings in.

Or, if you're partial to homecooked meals, make your way back to this stylish flat and rustle up something tasty in the kitchen. It has everything you'll need – a large island, built-in appliances and plenty of counter space. The rest of the flat is impeccable, too – two glossy bathrooms (one decked out with bold palm leaf wallpaper, another en-suite) feature rainfall showers, the comfortable bedrooms are cosy and pared-back and the bright living area boats a squishy sofa and a lovely Juliet balcony that floods the room with light. We think you'll love calling this apartment home, whether you're in town for a few days or a few weeks.

Located in one of Madrid's most charming neighbourhoods, the Barrio de las Letras –  step outside and you'll discover terrific restaurants, trendy bars, and little boutiques. It is noisy, but you're in the heart of the action here. Chueca, famous for its active nightlife and wonderful vintage tapas bars, is a great place to experience Spanish nightlife. The Narcisse is only a few minutes away from Calle Fuencarral, one of our favourite shopping streets in Madrid. To say that it's centrally located is an understatement, especially since this home is practically surrounded by Malasaña's finest quirky cafes and restaurants. Narcisse is an ambitious home – the golden details are risky but well-balanced with calmer tones, and the layout is (rightfully) focused on maximising the natural light, which mostly comes from the French doors. But in the end, this home won us over with the urban view.

This is a big and cleverly laid-out home that impressed us with how quiet it was – in spite of the fact that it's in the strictest centre of Madrid. Both Puerta del Sol and the Prado are within walking distance, setting you up for great sightseeing walks. Corinthian gives the impression of old-timey grandeur. It's not a scratch-free home, but one that feels lived in and furnished with a personality. The high ceiling and use of wood in almost every room give it a warm and welcoming vibe.
