You’ll find this apartment in the heart of Sant Gervasi – Galvany, known for its upscale bakeries and bistros. Casa Vicens Gaudí – a UNESCO World Heritage Site – is just a short stroll away and the rest of Barcelona’s must-sees are within easy reach. While the living space isn’t huge – at full occupancy it will be a bit of a squeeze – we like the calming decor here. We challenge you to find a prettier apartment overlooking the Royal Palace of Madrid. This place is a real showstopper, with twin Juliet balconies opening over Plaza de Oriente Gardens. Molten Brass is neat and tidy. There isn’t a lot that jumps out at you, but that’s not necessarily a problem – the atmosphere inside is pretty calm. That stands in contrast to the atmosphere on the street below, which is pretty intense, but that’s because you’re in the heart of Malasaña, so there’s tonnes to do. As is common with any flat that is rented out all the time, there’s a lack of personality but the attention to detail, and generally pleasant, if simple, design help make the flat feel more homely.

In the heart of Madrid, just a few metres away from Plaza Mayor and within walking distance of Puerta del Sol, this city apartment couldn't be better located. Keep in mind that some noise should be expected here, but we think it's a small price to pay for this central spot. You'll find a great selection of restaurants on your doorstep if you'd like to sample the local cuisine, but if you'd prefer to dine in, the kitchen is well-equipped for homemade tapas.

What a fabulous location this refurbished apartment has – Puerta del Sol, one of the best-known squares in the city, is just a two-minute stroll away. Or, a five-minute walk will take you to one of Madrid's most famous streets, Gran Vía. Watch a production at the Teatro EDP Gran Vía or have lunch at one of its many eateries. The Narcisse is only a few minutes away from Calle Fuencarral, one of our favourite shopping streets in Madrid. To say that it's centrally located is an understatement, especially since this home is practically surrounded by Malasaña's finest quirky cafes and restaurants. Narcisse is an ambitious home – the golden details are risky but well-balanced with calmer tones, and the layout is (rightfully) focused on maximising the natural light, which mostly comes from the French doors. But in the end, this home won us over with the urban view.

There are plenty of bars and restaurants nearby, so you’ll never be far from your next great meal, and the apartment has a well-equipped kitchen and dining table for those wanting to dine in. You’ll also have an attractive living room to enjoy, and a balcony where you can watch the world go by. This apartment is perfect for a family or group of friends.

Step into the heart of Madrid with a stay in this contemporary loft. From the simple aesthetic to the functional design, this is a great option for couples and solo travellers in search of a refreshing city stay. At full occupancy, two guests will be sleeping on the sofa bed in the living room and the main bedroom is located on the mezzanine level (with no door), but you’ll find all the essentials needed to make it your own. Outside, it’s just a short stroll to local tapas bars, shops and iconic sights like the Royal Botanical Garden of Madrid.

Situated in Madrazo, just a five-minute stroll from the bustling shop-lined avenue of Gran Vía and its majestic Metropolis Building, this home's location alone is enough reason for us to praise it to the skies. It's right at the heart of the action, though, tucked away on a side street and perched on the third floor, feels delightfully peaceful. Here, you're within walking distance of all the main sights, including El Retiro Park and the Plaza Mayor, both twelve minutes from your doorstep on foot.

From the outset, this home exudes grandeur with its pastel-hued facade and marble tiled entryway. The interior is just as elegant, boasting a calming canvas of high ceilings, wooden floors and stylish decor. Large windows usher in floods of sunlight, and we love the open-plan living space, where floor-to-ceiling French doors open up to not one but four balconies. After a restful slumber, spend mornings roosted here, sipping your coffee in the sunshine with picturesque street-facing views. 

Spend your days strolling through Madrid's palm-lined streets, passing neoclassical architecture, emblematic museums and bustling plazas bearing ample cafes and tapas bars. When you need a breather from the city heat, return to this sanctuary of serenity. Enjoy an energising workout in the shared gym, or kick back on the plush sofas with a glass of wine as the sun sets over the rooftops.

When you see as many flats as we do, you learn very quickly to tell which homes have been done up for convenience, and which are a labour of love. Toquilla clearly falls into the latter category. It’s been designed as a whole, with thought and attention put into the schemes, as well as the materials. We particularly liked the concrete pillars and the glass walls, neither of which are especially common in Madrid. The only real complaint we have is the fake plants – They’re understandable for the convenience, but really, most places would be better off without anything.


Toquilla

Keen to be in the hustle and bustle? This apartment, just a ten-minute stroll from Gran Vía, may be a great choice. It's easy to get to all the landmarks on foot or by metro, and there are a lot of bars and restaurants nearby. Unsurprisingly it can get a tad noisy – but that's part of the city experience. We love the bright living area, and the two snug bedrooms channel Spanish sunshine with their yellow paint. Size-wise, it's rather compact but still comfortable – just note that it's on the second floor and lacks a lift.

In the trendy Chamartín district, this light-filled apartment is modern in every aspect. A covered terrace acts as a second living area – there's even an outdoor TV – while the kitchen has all you need to whip up tapas at home. Travelling with little ones? The main bedroom includes a cot and changing table – not to mention an en-suite Jacuzzi bath. Football fans will love being a short walk from Santiago Bernabéu stadium – home of Real Madrid FC – while those in town to sightsee can take advantage of nearby Cuzco Station.
