There's also a small balcony (standing room only) from where you can watch the world go by on the street below. On that note, you're likely to hear some city noise here, but that's to be expected because this home's location is excellent. Located a fifteen-minute walk from the Centro Histórico, this apartment is perfect for first-time travellers or repeat visitors. Malagueta Beach is only a short car ride away, but if you’d prefer to cool off at home, make a beeline for the plunge pool on the private terrace. Just a heads up, there isn't much storage space here, so you may want to pack light. Plus, there isn't an oven here, only a hob – though we think you’ll do most of your eating out at the restaurants on your doorstep.

Location-wise, this apartment in the cultural Centro Histórico absolutely nails it. Not only are historical sites, restaurants and beaches all within walking distance, but you're only a quick stroll from the 15th-century Santo Domingo de Guzman Church and some of Malaga’s most famous landmarks. The Interactive Music Museum and Picasso Museum can be reached within minutes, while the golden sands of Playa la Malagueta are just a little further – about a twenty-minute walk.

When you're not out exploring, unwind from the day's adventures in your Andalusian oasis. With the floor-to-ceiling doors open and the sun shining through, it's the definition of relaxation. Although the style is a picture of modernity, you can still spot some Spanish influences in the warm peachy hues and original tiled balconies. Our favourite room has to be the open living room –  you can cosy up on the dusty rose sofa with a glass of sangria and nibble on freshly prepared tapas amongst the Rothko-inspired artwork. Ask anyone who knows a little bit about Málaga and they will tell you that Soho is the neighbourhood to stay in. Not only is it close to the old town and sandy beaches, but the local area has a creative spirit reflected in the number of galleries, restaurants and buzzy bars.

There's more than enough space, even with two sleeping on the sofa bed in the living area, and the kitchen is well-equipped for dining in when you're not at a local tapas bar. Plus, the art deco flair is a nice touch.

Set in the heart of Malaga's historic centre, you've got all the city's must-sees at your feet with a stay at this home. Take your pick from La Malagueta Beach, the Pompidou Museum, and the Plaza de Toros – it's all just a ten-minute walk from your door. While its central location is impressive, and the bustling street cafes below the apartment are handy, you can inevitably expect some street noise here. It's also worth noting that if six of you share, the last two guests will sleep on a sofa bed in the lounge. Not ideal for some, but for a bolthole this central, we think it's a keeper.

Our favourite spot is the sleek American-style kitchen, where you can rustle up many a Mediterranean meal to share around the glass dining table. 

Outside, the shared pool draws the eye – on a hot, sunny day, it's exceptionally inviting. There’s plenty of space on the terrace so you can enjoy it whether you’re listening to a podcast in the shade or soaking up every second of sunshine on the loungers. 

If you’re feeling a day soaking up some culture, you’ll find gilded religious artworks at the 15th-century Santo Domingo de Guzman Church and Congregation of Mena Chapel, just a few minutes away on foot. And if a day beachside is what you’re looking for, it’s a ten-minute drive to the vast sands and warm waters of Playa la Malagueta.
