Nestled in the Barcelona hills with Mediterranean views, this 19th-century farmhouse is the definition of paradise. You'll want a car here for trips to the beach and into the city, as there's not a lot within walking distance. But if you're looking for privacy, whether it's for a special event or just a family holiday, you'll be hard-pressed to find a better location. Up to eighteen guests can be accommodated in the two guest houses, and you'll enjoy exclusive access to the expansive gardens, private pool, and outdoor amenities. For an additional fee, you can reserve use of the private spa, equipped with an indoor Jacuzzi and sauna.

La Fortuna

Located in a peaceful setting surrounded by nature, and offering large gardens with green lawns, and a private swimming pool, this villa is the perfect home for relaxing breaks with your friends or that family reunion you’ve been planning. Each of the double bedrooms has direct balcony access, while the main bedroom even has its own private terrace, so why not start each day here with breakfast overlooking the expansive gardens and turquoise waters of the pool? 

Spend hours relaxing in the garden, soaking up the sun’s rays on a lounger before cooling off in the swimming pool. Or, if you’ve got a stack of holiday reading to get through, then kick back on the outdoor sofa in the shaded seating area.

In the evening, fire up the barbecue and cook some Spanish pinchos or use the kitchen to create tapas dishes for dinner and then dine alfresco together. Enjoy relaxing after dinner chats or ‘sobremesa’ as the Spanish call it. Then, take cocktail hour to the ‘American-style’ bar area found in the outdoor seating space and watch the sunset descend into nighttime. 

El Jardin del Paraiso

This is a home for beach lovers. Located in the rapidly developing Diagonal Mar, Cream Vista is all about sleek lines and minimalist furniture. As there are transparent surfaces in the communal area of this home, some might feel a bit exposed in the absence of curtains. But the big windows do have their perks, as you'll realise as soon as you wake up the sunrise. You'll need to take a train to get to Eixample, but we suppose when the beach is this close, the sightseeing can wait a little bit. 

Cream Vista

A thirty-five-minute drive from Barcelona, this villa embodies outdoor living. Discovering the city's landmarks, shops, and thriving food scene is a breeze here, though if you're keen on a beach day, Mataró's sandy shores are also within easy reach. Back home, the sunny garden is our favourite feature. There's a private pool, a covered terrace ideal for alfresco tapas, and a balcony offering views of the Mediterranean. Inside, roomy bedrooms, a cosy living area, and a separate chill-out annexe offer space for everyone to spread out and relax. That's all our boxes ticked.

Mediterranean Soul

With direct sea views, garden, pool and kids' play area/pool, as well as easy access to transportation to the rest of this beautiful city, this home really has everything to offer for a relaxed and fun-filled city break. All guests need to do is kick off their shoes and listen to the gentle and melodic crash of waves in the background as they enjoy their morning coffee out on the balcony, watching as seagulls fly overhead. Children will have the time of their lives playing in the pool and play area, and when it's time to head on out to explore, guests will be spoilt for choice as the nearby Metro station connects the area to the rest of the city, making sightseeing easier than ever. 

Spend your days relaxing and soaking up those delicious Spanish rays at the neighbouring beach, which can be reached in as little as a ten-minute stroll, while the stunningly unique architecture that Barcelona is so famous for can be seen in the same amount of time. For those looking to spend the day shopping, dining and wine tasting, your neighbourhood of Diagonal Mar, as well as the cultural melting pot of La Rambla are the perfect spots, and if you're looking to venture out further afield for something truly spectacular, we highly recommend The Temple Expiatori del Sagrat Cor, which can be reached in a thirty-minute drive, or forty minutes by public transport.

Fractal

Staying in Mar Diagonal is not the obvious choice for everyone, but if you want a more relaxed, beachy atmosphere, it’s hard to beat this apartment. The building is impressive enough in itself, and the fact that every room has a sea view is not to be sniffed at. While the design of the place is simple, even bordering on sparse, the way that the windows frame that view mitigates what could otherwise be seen as a slight lack of inspiration. Getting into the city is easy enough on the metro, but it’s about an hour on foot to Plaça de Catalunya.


Mar Terra

Pineda de Mar, on the southern tip of the Costa Brava, has long been a favourite of Spanish holidaymakers who are drawn to its long golden beach, fresh local cuisine and the abundant beauty of the Montenegre National Park. And just a short walk from the beach, you’ll find this top-floor apartment perfectly positioned to enjoy the glimmering Mediterranean.

From the eclectic styling and mood-enhancing colours to the art and books, every detail has been considered to enrich your stay with joy and comfort. And just like the warmth of the sea breeze, it’s the kind of space that simply makes you feel good. 

Open the doors from the living room and you’ll find the balcony provides refreshing views across the surrounding gardens – making it the perfect spot for a quiet morning coffee or later with drinks as the sun sets. 

From here it's just a short walk to the restaurants, bars, bakeries and supermarket. Days can be spent embracing the waves on the beach, exploring the remains of the Can Cua Roman aqueduct and Montpalau Castle or discovering the beauty of the El Montnegre countryside. 

Casa Morada

Despite being out in the peaceful Spanish countryside, this villa is within day-tripping distance of Barcelona and Girona by train or by hire car. Once you’ve had your fill of the city, return to your peaceful country manor, built back in the 18th century. The grounds are filled with ancient trees whose trunks are twisted with ivy. Natural canopies shade outdoor dining and reclining spots, and there’s a full outdoor kitchen for alfresco feasts. The piece de resistance is the turquoise pool, begging for a dip in the Spanish sunshine.

Inside, it’s everything you expect from a Spanish manor – terracotta tiled floors, wood-beamed ceilings and exposed brick walls. Several different sitting rooms packed with bookshelves and artworks provide the space to unwind and there are some laptop-friendly desks should you need to work remotely. We loved the tiled staircase at the centre of the home, a nod to yesteryear.

Crickets & Clover

This Catalan villa stood out to us based on its fabulous outside space alone. With a large swimming pool, dining terrace, and garden, it's a great choice for groups of friends or family wanting a private home to sprawl out. The deck provides some lovely sea views, and there's free parking for up to four cars – we suggest hiring a vehicle to get the most out of your stay. Barcelona is a thirty-minute drive from the villa. Inside, it's bright and spacious, and there are five bathrooms so you won't have to queue for the shower. There's a double bunk-bed room that's ideal for younger families, although this room is not suitable for adults.

The City of Glass

Since Barcelona doesn't have a lot of beachside apartments, there's a zone right across the road from it, where modern high rises offer a brilliant view of the sea and the developing Poblenou. Maresme is only a few minutes away from the beach, but you'll need to take the nearby metro to get to Eixample. In the summer, this home really comes alive with a whole extra lounge and dining area on the balcony that overlooks Nova Mar Bella beach. But even in the winter, the elegant design creates a pleasant atmosphere.
