We love this home's private courtyard garden with its high sunkissed stone walls and sparkling pool. Recline on a sun lounger or enjoy a glass of wine as you get stuck into your holiday read. Later on, enjoy a Mallorcan feast under the shade of the canopy. Inside, you'll find a traditional interior with beams and terracotta tiled floors. If you want to visit the white sandy beach of Puerto Alcudia, it's around 30 kilometres away. Known as the wine capital of Mallorca, Binissalem has some of the best vineyards on the island, not to mention plenty in the way of art, culture, nature and gastronomy. On entering the lively town, you’ll notice the abundance of historic stone facades, and your new home is no exception. 
 
Positioned around a postcard-perfect courtyard, this low-rise home has a ‘shoes off’ feel with large terracotta tiles, beamed ceilings, white walls and beautifully built archways. Touches of colour add extra character to the interior, like the tiled dining table with its sea-green bucket seats and the vibrant paintings depicting island life.
 
But it’s in the private courtyard where this home truly shines. The cobbled walls and flagstone floor take you back to a time when life was a little slower, while the eye-catching green shutters are complemented by a veritable jungle of plant life, from potted palms to ambitious ivy creepers. This lovely villa in Mallorca provides a perfectly tranquil and peaceful escape with amazing views of the forest from your private pool and from the balcony terrace. We would love to start each morning here with a breakfast of café con leche and churros as we admire the view in the early sunshine. Then, of course, take a swim in the cooling waters of the pool and dry off as you lounge in the sun. 

The home is located near Binissalem, a Mallorcan village that is well known for its wine production. There are many wine cellars in the area, so why not go for a wine tasting which can be reached by car within nine minutes? In Binissalem you will also find plenty of other amenities including, supermarkets, bars, and restaurants. 

You can play a round of golf at the course that is just a twenty-five-minute drive away or have a competitive game of paintball – a six-minute drive away from your door. If shopping is more your style, head to the Mallorca Fashion Outlet, which can be reached in seventeen minutes by car. 

If you want to explore the island’s culture and heritage, then there is plenty of that not far from this home. An eighteen-minute drive will get you to Alaró Castle, a ruined fortress in the hills that has existed since 902. Drive fifty-two minutes from this home and you can reach, Salt d’es Freu waterfalls to admire nature’s stunning creation, or explore Port de Pollença – a thirty-four-minute drive away. 

For days on the sandy beach, drive twenty-seven minutes to Puerto d’Alcúdia. Or drive twenty-nine minutes to Palma and see the gothic cathedral, old town, wander the sands of the bay of Palma, or even enjoy the nightlife.

This finca dates back to around 1890. Built from local stone and using traditional tiles, fireplaces and beamed ceilings, it's a stylish blend of rustic features and contemporary (think dark wood furniture and shuttered windows alongside modern steel and glass). A local architect has taken this old farmhouse and given it new life – without losing any of the atmosphere.

Your living space flows naturally on the ground floor, with a stunning seating area with a window wall to one side and exposed stone walls to the other. Stylish, comfy sofas provide a perfect indoor retreat to sit and chat, while the indoor dining table is just steps from the sleek, all-white kitchen. Two of the bedrooms open to the garden, while a steel staircase leads up to the others.

But this home's real star power comes in the form of an immense outdoor pool. Measuring more than 1000sq ft, it's been built using the existing base of an old farm building and uses several repurposed architectural features. It's pretty impressive if we say so ourselves.

As you'd expect, there's no shortage of secret outdoor seating spots and places to read under a tree in total seclusion. You'll also have a large covered terrace with a table and a barbecue. And here's a quirky little addition: if you thought the walk downstairs to the pool was too long from the main bedroom, the architect has installed some exterior metal steps so it only takes a moment.

Inside, there is plenty of space to stretch out and you’ll find each of the bedrooms comes with an en-suite bathroom. Housekeeping is provided and your host can help organise a range of extra services – including wellness treatments and a private chef. You will need a car to get around here, but it’s just a short drive to the heart of Alcúdia. 

Majestic Mediterranean

With its modern interiors and peaceful garden, there’s no better place to enjoy sun-soaked Mallorca than this bright and fuss-free retreat a ten-minute walk from the heart of Alaró. Days here begin with a refreshing dip in the pool before setting the alfresco dining table ready for a tasty breakfast with your loved ones. 

Spend afternoons tanning on the loungers or bag a deckchair on the lawn and while away the hours with a good book and a chilled beverage. When you’re ready to head inside, you’ll be met with a breezy open-plan living space – we loved the vibrant orange accents and minimalist furnishings. If you’re keen to expend some energy, set off on a hike through the nearby Serra de Tramuntana or jump in the car and take the forty-minute drive to the rugged Cala Deià. 

Orange Burst

Surrounded by countryside in the town of Sencelles, this rustic villa guarantees a restful break for a family or group of friends. Outside, there are multiple terraces, as well as a private swimming pool. Head inside, and you’ll find plenty of space for the whole group to feel comfortable, and the kitchen is fully-equipped if you plan on cooking at home. In terms of sleeping arrangements, two of the bedrooms are interconnecting, which could be a great option for couples with young children.

Slice of Orange

Surrounded by the Sierra de Tramuntana, you won't find a more scenic spot to call home. Inside and out, every inch of this villa makes the most of the mountain views, so sit back with a glass of sangria and take it all in. Splash about in the private pool on lazy afternoons, then stretch out under the parasols and dry off with a good book and a refreshing drink. When the sun goes down and the stars come out, fire up the grill and dine alfresco on fresh-caught seafood picked up at Inca's weekly market. Sounds dreamy, doesn't it?

When you're not basking in the blue skies and fresh air at home, you'll be well-placed to explore the island. Head 3km to the nearby town of Inca for charming eateries, boutiques selling locally-made leather goods and cosy cafes. Need a bit more buzz? Palma isn't fa – about a half-hour drive – and promises plenty of chic restaurants and lively nightlife. And, of course, you can't visit Mallorca without spending a day or two a the beach – our favourites are Port d'Alcúdia and Playa del Muro, both easily reached by car.

In Halcyon

It’s hard to believe that this beautiful home was so recently a dilapidated ruin. The owners, who fell in love with the centuries-old farmhouse and saw its potential, have lovingly restored it. It sits within more than four hectares of land in the Llubi countryside, at the heart of Sa Part Forana, and is one of the most breath-taking holiday homes in the area. 

The history of the home has been respected, so you’ll find heaps of charm and original features – we love the beams and exposed stone walls. In keeping with traditional Mallorcan values, you’ll also find lots of areas for you to gather together as a family, whether it’s at the dining table, around the wood-burning stove, or in the alfresco dining area. After spending your mornings swimming in the refreshingly cool swimming pool, why not fire up the barbecue for a lunchtime feast? Sit together late into the afternoon, sipping local wine and making memories – this is what holidays are all about. 

The old farmhouse courtyard surrounds the garden, and the shaded porch is the perfect place to get lost in a good book. 

Though you’ll find it hard to tear yourself away from this dreamy home, you might want to explore further afield. It takes twelve minutes to drive to nearby Inca, where you can shop for supplies or simply sit in a plaza drinking coffee and watching the world go by. The picturesque settlement of Valldemossa is forty-one minutes away by car, making it perfect for day trips.

With alfresco dining opportunities aplenty, sun-kissed terraces and balconies for working on your tan, and a private pool to cool off in the heat of the day, you’ll find everything you need here for a relaxing stay. If you’re keen to hit the beach, you’ll need a car to drive to the sandy shores of Playa de Muro, 33 kilometres away.

This villa is situated in the picturesque Serra de Tramuntana, with lovely views of the nearby town. The highlight for us is the large private pool, surrounded by hammocks, several dining areas, high hedges and a mini orchard. We also like the pool house's outdoor bathroom, while inside the villa itself, there’s a rustic charm to every room. If you tire of swimming in the pool and want to dip your toes in the warm Mediterranean Sea, you'll find several pretty beaches around a twenty-minute drive away.
