This villa is everything we want from a place in the southeast of Mallorca. Step-free access and three downstairs bedrooms mean it’s suitable for those with limited mobility, while the upstairs bedroom has its own en-suite and balcony – perfect for those who’d like some privacy. You’ll notice holiday knick-knacks dotted about, which may not be to everyone’s taste, but we think they’re charming. It’s the outside space that really steals the show – we couldn’t get enough of the private pool and summer kitchen. Most importantly, there’s a sandy beach 700 metres away and Caló del Moro is easily reached by car.

We love how the light bounces off the local stone, permeating a beige hue, reminiscent of a hot Mallorcan summer. Speaking of, your suntrap of a patio is perfect for lying out in the morning sun, coffee in one hand and a book in another. 

When you're ready to explore, enjoy strolling leisurely through the historic town of Santanyí, a place that's strongly held onto its Mallorcan charm. There are certainly fewer crowds to wade through. That's except for Saturday, which is the day a bustling market is held. It's peaceful and traditional whilst offering a good dose of culture, art, and plenty of places to eat. It's actually considered a food lover's paradise, and your host is full of recommendations for the very best places to eat. 

This part of the island also boasts dramatic cliffs which have formed secret coves to have all to yourself. And while they might not be on your maps app, the locals will be happy to help you find them. But sometimes, when the sun is beating down, you just want a stretch of soft sand to spend the day. Set back from a green natural park lies S'Amarador and Cala Mondragó – think crystal clear waters and sparkling white sand, just a seventeen or twenty-three-minute drive away. And if you want to experience a quaint Mallorcan fishing village, Cala Figuera is just eight minutes by car. Tuck in to freshly caught seafood while looking out at the glittering Mediterranean sea.

This farmhouse has been renovated in such a way that it has retained its unique rural character while still getting to call itself a holiday home fit for the twenty-first century. Mallorquin both within and without, it’s built in the classic blonde stone of the area and filled with traditional dark wood furnishings, wrought iron beds and classic Mediterranean tiled floors. The home is spread over two floors and includes a spacious open-plan kitchen where you can get a real flavour of the local produce. We love the large terrace area complete with BBQ facilities – fire it up for some alfresco dining in the afternoon. We suggest a car for ease if you want to explore the area – the home is five miles from the gold stone architecture of Santanyí city.

The bedrooms are on the small side and some spaces lack a bit of thoughtful design, but its location makes up for it. Built on the rocks of Cala Santanyí, it has gorgeous views of the bay and a nice rooftop terrace to enjoy some Mediterranean sunshine. With sparkling sea views, sun-drenched terraces and not one, but two pools (indoors and outdoors), this beautiful villa is more than enough to keep you entertained. For those fitness enthusiasts, there’s even an on-site gym – and for those who prefer a slower pace of life, the hot tub, gazing out at the vistas, will be right up your street. 

The Crystal View

With some homes it's hard to know where to start, but with this place in Cala d'Or there's a very obvious beginning point. The beach. Set so close to the gorgeous Cala Petita that all you have to do is stroll down the garden path and step out of the gate to feel the warm sand between toes, it overlooks this pretty little inlet – the crystal-clear water constantly tempting you from below. With one of the best beach views we've seen, this beautiful spot is one of our favourites. 

Screened from its neighbours by lush hedges and fragrant pine trees, you'll feel tucked away here, with a fabulous view from the private terrace. The home itself is as pretty as a picture, with green shutters and a traditional covered porch. Inside, high ceilings, all-white walls and plenty of curves and arches provide the backdrop, while comfy, stylish furnishings and nautical artwork make for a homey feel. The living room is dominated by a gorgeous fireplace and there's a covered dining space with huge doors opening to the sunny terrace. Cooking at home will be a pleasure in the well kitted-out kitchen, but it's just a few minutes' walk to the nearby shops and restaurants.

Perfect for a family or a great choice for a multigenerational stay, two rooms are well suited to children, with enough bathrooms to prevent any queues for the shower. And if you're the kind of person who likes to begin the day with a swim, nothing could be more invigorating than a sea dip before breakfast.

Blessed with an unpretentious charm, this terracotta-toned villa sits in a quiet rural location, a short drive outside the traditional market town of Santanyí. While its simplistic interior isn't going to win any design awards, it's clean and well cared for, with authentic features throughout. Step outside and uncover an inviting pool surrounded by sun loungers and palapa parasols, plus a shaded dining area ideal for light lunches out of the midday heat. Away from the villa, you're well-placed to explore some of Mallorca's most beautiful beaches and secluded coves, including Cala Mondragó and Cala Màrmols.

Casa Cabrera

Surrounded by a hectare of natural vegetation, this Mallorcan villa pays homage to the landscape – that much is clear from the number of vantage points. There's a balcony and a sunny terrace with alfresco dining space and a private pool to enjoy, while kids will especially love the sprawling garden. It's a bit traditional inside, but each bedroom boasts an en-suite, and all things considered, it's rather cosy. As for location, this might be the golfer's dream, with Vall D’or golf course only meters away. The nearest village, Portocolom, with fishing boats, barges and a lighthouse, is less than a five-minute drive away, and you'll also find the blue flag beach of Cala Marcal nearby.

The Sea Views 

Located on a quiet residential street, this home is perfectly located to reach the amenities including shops and restaurants in Cala D’Or’s centre. Plus, with two sandy beaches both reachable within just seven minutes on foot, you can spend your days splashing in the waves, building sandcastles, or simply relaxing as you enjoy the views and soothing soundscape. 

Start your mornings with a glass of jugo de naranja on the sun-bathed balcony as you admire the incredible views stretching out to the ocean. Then head to the beach or spend leisurely hours lounging in the sunshine before cooling off in the waters of your private swimming pool. When you need a moment of shade, why not sit back with a good book on the comfortable outdoor seating under the shaded pergola?

In the evening, sliding doors connect the kitchen to a small porch with a dining table creating the perfect area to enjoy a meal of Spanish tapas. Or, take advantage of the barbecue to grill your pinchos. We would love to end our days here with a glass of wine and some relaxing after-dinner chat with a view of the pool – or as the Spanish call it, Sobremesa. 

Sueños D'or

Drop your bags and make yourself at home in this sun-soaked villa surrounded by Mallorcan countryside. After reclining in the elegant yet unfussy living space, pour yourself a refreshing drink and make a beeline for the garden. Find a shady spot to get stuck into a page-turner or spend the afternoon dipping in and out of the pool.

When it’s time for something to eat, fire up the barbecue and treat your loved ones to a grilled feast – we recommend using fresh produce from the market in Campos, held every Thursday and Saturday. 

Of course, a trip to Mallorca wouldn’t be complete without a day at the beach and you have a handful within easy reach – the popular Es Trenc is only a ten-minute drive away. Diving aficionados should take a boat trip out to Cabrera and explore the Blue Cave, while those who’d prefer to take it easy can sip glasses of sangria in the waterside bars of Colònia de Sant Jordi.

You'll love waking up in one of the peaceful bedrooms and padding downstairs to make some fresh coffee in the kitchen. The living room, with its wooden beams and exposed stone walls, is bright and airy, perfect for kicking back and relaxing. Outside you'll find flamingo pink sun loungers where you can stretch out and catch some rays, before plunging into the pool for a refreshing dip. And, when evening rolls around, you can fire up the barbeque and grill up a tasty feast to enjoy with a glass of Spanish wine. 

Drive into the centre of Ses Salines, and you'll find a quiet, rustic town that holds a weekly market – it's ideal for stocking up on fresh local produce. Beach fans will be delighted that the impressive shoreline of Es Trenc is just seven kilometres away, where you can relax on the white sand and listen to the sound of the waves. And, with the sights of Palma just a forty-minute drive away, there's plenty to keep you occupied here.

Cala d'Or is one of the most spectacular destinations in Mallorca, as its paradisaical coves attract sun and sea seekers from afar. From here, you'll be just 270 metres away from the turquoise shores of Cala d'Or Beach and its bars and restaurants, as well as walking distance from the likes of Cala Esmeralda, Cala Ferrera, Cala Serena and Cala Gran.

It’s rare that you can walk from a country farmhouse to the beach, but this Mallorcan villa has it all. Located in the beautiful Cala Mondragó, you’ll be surrounded by the untouched nature of Mallorca. Just a few minutes walk from some of the most prestigious beaches on the east coast, you could easily go without a car here, though we do recommend renting one if you’re keen to explore other resorts like Cala D'or. At home, you’ll have a private pool, barbecue area and plenty of outdoor seating from which to soak up the glorious sunshine. 
 


Unspoiled Beauty

A paradise on paradise, it won't be a mystery why this home caught our eye. With several fantastic places to catch the sun, including by the large pool and on one of the terrace areas, this home is the perfect escape for a group of friends or an extended family. With an ensuite for every room and all that space, you won't encroach on one another, while still enjoying ample opportunity to come together to dine and connect. We especially like the shaded al fresco area and the Mediterranean garden. You're also a short drive away from the beach – perfect for a day trip.

A Fine Fig

This idyllic villa is the perfect place to gather for some Balearic bliss. It's based in the easy-going resort of Cala D’Or, just a stone’s throw from golden beaches, and you can park the car at the start of the holiday and leave it there till it’s time to go home. Interiors hit that sweet spot between traditional Mallorcan and contemporary design, with terracotta floors and antique beds contrasting with a high-gloss kitchen and Hans Wegner dining chairs. Outside, there’s a unique curvy pool and a multitude of terraced spots to sit with a drink or a morning coffee. Wander down to one of the sandy calas for a swim in the azure sea, or watch the super-yachts come and go from the glamorous marina. Evenings are for barbecues on the terrace, or if cooking doesn’t factor into your idea of a holiday, take the five-minute stroll into the resort and grab a table at one of the myriad restaurants.

Building this home was the realisation of a life-long dream for the owner, whose family worked the land for generations – you can tell a lot of love has been poured into the villa. It’s a comfortable and welcoming home, ideal for families. We love the outside space, with a private pool, open and covered terraces, and incredible panoramic views of the rolling countryside surrounding the home. You can even spot the Tramuntana mountains in the distance. The nearest beach is around fifteen minutes away by car, so we recommend hiring a car.

Your host can also arrange airport transfers – a great option for those in search of total relaxation without needing to drive. The rooms are basic and the outdoor space may not be suitable for those with reduced mobility, but the location is ideal for those looking to spend their days adventuring along the coast.

This breathtakingly beautiful villa is the perfect place to call home during a trip to the south of Mallorca. Just a few minutes away from the water's edge, in the town of Cala d'Or, it's ideal for groups of friends or families who want to embrace island life.

And, if a dose of culture is more your kind of thing, then the capital city of Palma is under an hour away, where you'll find plenty of fascinating history.

Situated in the sought-after Sa Punta area of Portocolom, this villa has a private pool surrounded by pine trees, as well as countryside and sea views. Relax in a hammock with a book or dine in the shade of the covered terrace. There’s table tennis for the family to enjoy, too. Inside is traditional in style, but business travellers will appreciate the desk area in one of the bedrooms. Out and about, you’ll find a wide range of restaurants, bars and shops in Portocolom, as well as pretty beaches such as Cala Marcal, which lies to the south of the marina.

White Oak & Vine

Found a short drive away from Santanyi, this villa is a welcome break from the hustle of bigger cities. Because it's a little more traditional – which you'll be able to spot in the beamed ceilings, exposed brick walls and decorative touches – it might feel a little dated, but it's comfortable and pretty. The magic happens outside, where you can unwind poolside or pick up the pace on the private tennis court – the swing set is a bonus for kids. The outdoor kitchen with a stone-built barbecue makes alfresco dining easy, but restaurants lie towards Cas Concos and the charming Santanyi if you'd rather not cook.

You can’t forget your coastal location with the nautical theme that runs through this home, a distinct nod, perhaps, to Portocolom lighthouse which forms part of your daily view.
