In contrast, those in search of an authentic stay surrounded by the beauty of northern Mallorca will find joy in its slow pace of life as you wander its meandering streets and stock up on essentials at its weekly Tuesday market.

Whatever your preference, early risers will be rewarded with jaw-dropping views over the tree-lined peaks bathed in the golden morning light. Plot your route over coffee on the private balcony before setting off on lung-busting mountain ascents and high-speed downhill freewheeling. Fresh from a morning in the mountains, enjoy feasting on a homemade meal in the shade of the covered dining area before a post-lunch siesta by the shared pool. 

After an action-packed day, we understand if you don't feel like cooking dinner (despite the well-equipped kitchen). Campanet offers an enticing array of eateries within walking distance of the apartment. Meanwhile, good road links mean the coastal resorts of Alcúdia and Pollença are within easy reach. Alternatively, make your way to Búger for traditional Mallorcan tapas in yet more spectacular mountain surroundings.

It's just over a five-minute walk to the centre where you'll find bars and restaurants, as well as the market on Tuesdays. We adore the cosy lounge – it's the perfect spot to sprawl out for an afternoon siesta – while the country-style kitchen has everything you'll need to whip up a tasty meal of tapas or paella.

Seeing as Mallorca is known for its gorgeous weather, it should come as no surprise that the garden is our favourite bit. Fuschia-coloured bougainvillaea climbs up the stone walls and comfy lounge chairs invite you to take advantage of the endless sunshine. Days here are best spent cooling off in the sparkling pool and lounging underneath the shady umbrellas when you need a break from the rays. Come dinnertime, fire up the barbecue and tuck into an alfresco feast at the outdoor table, finishing the evening with cocktails as the sun goes down.

Location-wise, sleepy Campanet is best known for its authentic, local spirit. It's not a resort town, so there are only a few restaurants, bars and cafes to discover, but we love the beautiful architecture and atmosphere. There's also some good hiking nearby, but for a bit more buzz, Alcúdia and its sandy beach are a twenty-minute drive away.

Located in the village of Campanet, around 17 kilometres from Muro Beach, this home provides peace and quiet for a small group. While the interior style won’t be to everyone’s taste, the small garden and roof terrace are sure to please. For those who like to keep active on their getaways, your host provides yoga mats, a pilates ring and a rowing machine. The kitchen here is fully equipped, but if you’d prefer to put your feet up, your host can arrange for a private chef to take charge of the cooking.

At night, lit by a modern twinkly chandelier, it’s very atmospheric. The vistas from the upstairs lounge are breathtaking, too, and we adore the atrium with its 200-year-old olive tree – it’s a real talking point and connects the home with the area's rural history. Choose a book from the shelves here, take a seat and truly unwind. And as for the elegant bedrooms, they all have en-suites.

Located in charming Búger, this family-friendly, quiet village in central - northern Mallorca has a range of amenities, such as a grocery shop and a few restaurants. A twenty-minute drive, on the other hand, will take you to some wonderful beaches, such as Puerto de Alcudia and Can Picafort.

This bold and quirky home can be found in the small municipality of Sa Pobla in the northeastern part of Majorca, which puts you in pretty close proximity to the bay of Alcudia – the largest beach of all the Balearic islands. 

Perfect for a solo trip or romantic getaway, this home has a beautiful flow between rooms and with the addition of ample light, you’ll likely fall in love with how at ease you feel in the space. With a sliding door in the bedroom, and another wall-to-wall door in the living space, you can open both to let the breeze in whilst you prepare breakfast in the sleek, minimalist kitchen. Explore the natural caves of Campanet, wander along the streets admiring the 17th-century landmarks or simply go for a walk – the town enjoys a lofty position on top of a hill, meaning there are spectacular views at every turn. On Saturdays, take a trip to the local market to pick up some fresh ingredients then head home for a barbecue dinner, which is best enjoyed alfresco on the patio. If you've got the kids in toe, they'll love it here too, thanks to a playground and plenty of space to run around. 

The Countryside's Calling

This home sits in the buzzing inland town of Sa Pobla, where you can experience a slice of real Mallorcan life. You’ve got streets filled with restaurants, bars and cafés galore, plus plenty of shops, but this place hasn’t quite made it on the tourism radar. Perfect for those that like a bit of authenticity.

You could make the short drive to the beach at Alcudia, or just stick around in the courtyard garden by the Jacuzzi. Pot plants provide a bit of greenery and there’s a wooden dining table for alfresco lunches. Inside, we love the original tiled floor of the living room, a nod to the 19th-century architecture that surrounds you. Stone archways and wood beams are in display and a grand old staircase leads up to the bedrooms. A couple of the bedrooms have Juliet balconies looking out over the atmospheric street before you.
