Sometimes you want to get away from it all, and sometimes it’s nice to be in town. This classic beauty of a Mallorcan villa offers both, sitting on a quiet street, 150 metres from the centre of Llubí. In the heart of town, you’ll find tree-lined streets leading to squares crowned with ancient churches. Pavement cafés spill into the street and bakeries and cafés provide traditional breakfast options. It’s in the heart of the Mallorcan hills, so cyclists will be particularly pleased with the location (there are bike racks in the garage too).

Heading back to the villa, you can unwind with a float about in the swimming pool, or perhaps indulge in a long, lazy dinner in the shade at the outdoor dining table. From here, you can admire the honey-brown stonework adorned with dazzling modern art by the Moorish wooden doors. Take your pre-dinner drink on the plush terrace sofas and enjoy the last of the evening sun. 

Inside, the villa is sleek and sophisticated with touches of old-world charm. Marble columns and the grand marble staircase caught our eye the second we walked in, and hand-carved wooden bedframes feel like they have Moorish roots. There are two living rooms to choose from – one with a plush, tufted sofa and the other with a delightfully retro suite. Our favourite spot might have to be the second terrace, shaded by a sail-like parasol and lined with balustrades.

Situated within the small town of Llubí, this villa was simply made for long sunny afternoons. Out in the back garden, the swimming pool is a welcome spot in which to cool off from the Mediterranean heat and you can dry off on one of the neighbouring loungers or on the terrace's table. As an added bonus, there's also a balcony on which you can take a seat and gaze out over the island's treetops.

The home's large glass doors bring plenty of sunshine inside the home and this natural asset is accentuated by the bright white walls and shiny wood flooring. There's a minimalist approach to furnishing and decoration, which has been executed really rather well. A big perk we have to mention is the private gym, which gives you no excuse not to keep up with your fitness regimen on your travels.

A short walk from the house, you'll find a small choice of restaurants and shops, but you'll find more in larger towns nearby, including Sineu and Inca. When it comes to outdoor excursions, you have two options – explore the hills and hiking routes in Mallorca's interior or drive over to the beach. Of course, you could simply stay put and enjoy the peace and quiet that comes with this villa's tranquil location.

When you’re not out sampling the local cuisine or spending your days in the surf and sand of Playa del Muro, you can find peaceful refuge between this villa’s four walls. Although, some might argue that the tranquillity can actually be found outside where the terrace overlooks rolling hills and the verdant green of native foliage. Spend days on the sun lounger, peeking out over the top of whichever book you’re reading to see the horizon. When it gets a little too hot, take a dip, swimming out to the edge of the pool so you never lose sight of the landscape.

In this secluded villa, relaxation is the first port of call. While some might opt for the Mediterranean lifestyle of local beaches such as Can Picafort, a fifteen-minute drive away, you can experience the sea in your private saltwater pool. With plenty of sun loungers, and an outdoor shower, you can bring the beach to your own home.

Eco-friendly sensibilities such as solar panels make the most of the sunshine, which you can also do up on the raised decking, with a verandah for wining and dining. It sits within more than four hectares of land in the Llubi countryside, at the heart of Sa Part Forana, and is one of the most breath-taking holiday homes in the area. 

The history of the home has been respected, so you’ll find heaps of charm and original features – we love the beams and exposed stone walls. In keeping with traditional Mallorcan values, you’ll also find lots of areas for you to gather together as a family, whether it’s at the dining table, around the wood-burning stove, or in the alfresco dining area. After spending your mornings swimming in the refreshingly cool swimming pool, why not fire up the barbecue for a lunchtime feast? Sit together late into the afternoon, sipping local wine and making memories – this is what holidays are all about. 

The old farmhouse courtyard surrounds the garden, and the shaded porch is the perfect place to get lost in a good book. 

Though you’ll find it hard to tear yourself away from this dreamy home, you might want to explore further afield. It takes twelve minutes to drive to nearby Inca, where you can shop for supplies or simply sit in a plaza drinking coffee and watching the world go by. You're just steps away from the main square, where every Saturday, the town comes alive for the weekly market. Come here with your tote bag and stock up on fresh, locally grown produce. Stargazing is also an option here, as you're only a thirty-minute walk from the Astronomical Observatory of Mallorca.

We love the dreamy rooftop terrace, where a hot tub is proudly perched, offering stunning views of verdant forest fields in the distance. On balmy evenings, take a dip and watch the sunset over the terracotta-tiled rooftops. It's also the perfect spot for stargazing. With its rural location, Costitx promises clear night skies. You might even catch a glimpse of the Milky Way. 

The Astronomer

Nestled in the heart of Sa Pobla, this smart townhouse is a wonderful place to spend a holiday. With plenty of space both inside and outside, and high stone walls providing ample privacy, you'll feel right at home here in no time at all. 

Huge windows flood the living space with natural light, and the open-plan set-up makes it easy to socialise with your guests as you cook, eat, and relax. However, we think you'll want to spend most of your time outside enjoying the balmy weather. Start your day with coffee on the balcony, before stretching out on a sun lounger to catch some rays. Swim a few laps in the pool when you want to cool off, and come evening the whole group can gather for a grilled feast hot off the barbeque. 

Sa Pobla is home to some lovely restaurants serving up local favourites, and there's also a weekly market where you can pick up fresh produce. Culture fans will be delighted to find a modern art museum in the town, while golfers can practice their swing on the local course, just eleven kilometres away. And, if you fancy a day at the beach then take a fifteen-minute drive over to Platja de Muro for a day on the golden sand.

The high beamed ceilings and framed sections of old stone walls honour the home's roots, but it's not just traditional charm on offer. There's plenty of contemporary comforts and 21st century style to be found, including abstract artwork on the walls, a 360-degree rotating LCD TV in the bright living area and a sparkling infinity pool ideal for cooling off on balmy summer days. Inside, everything is cool and sleek, but outside, it's a true oasis. Laze about on the Balinese sunbed or soak up some rays on the funky deck chairs, all while admiring the idyllic orchard scenery. In the evenings, fire up the brick barbecue and enjoy an alfresco meal and a glass of Mallorcan wine while the sun goes down. You're a little off the beaten track here, though it's only a five-minute drive to Muro's selection of shops, cafes and restaurants. The beach is a bit further – Platja de Muro and Alcúdia are about thirty minutes away – but we think the extra time is worth it for such a peaceful spot.

Halfway between Palma and Port d'Alcúdia, this rustic villa is a quintessentially Mallorcan escape. You'll appreciate the peace and quiet that comes with the rural setting, and the mountain views in the distance make a postcard-worthy backdrop for your holidays.

The inside is warm and inviting – there's a roomy living area, comfortable bedrooms and even a ping-pong table. But, with the shining sun and blue skies waiting outside, you'll surely spend your days outdoors. In the mornings, pad out to the terrace and enjoy a cup of coffee on the cosy outdoor sofas and bask in the fresh air. Make your way down to the sun-drenched garden for an afternoon spent swimming in the private pool, snoozing on the lounge chairs and snacking on grilled meals whipped up on the barbecue. Come evening, gather around the alfresco dining table for a Spanish feast as the stars come out – it's the perfect excuse to open a bottle of wine and toast your getaway. 

Location-wise, you're just a stone's throw from Inca, Mallorca's third-largest town. Known for its leather-making workshop, wine cellars housing local restaurants, and weekly market, it's a charming village that has all you need. Fancy a day trip? Buzzing Palma is about a twenty-five-minute drive away, or if you're keen on the sea, Port d'Alcúdia and the island's northern beaches are about half an hour by car. 

Sunset & Evening Star

Surrounded by the Sierra de Tramuntana, you won't find a more scenic spot to call home. Inside and out, every inch of this villa makes the most of the mountain views, so sit back with a glass of sangria and take it all in. Splash about in the private pool on lazy afternoons, then stretch out under the parasols and dry off with a good book and a refreshing drink. When the sun goes down and the stars come out, fire up the grill and dine alfresco on fresh-caught seafood picked up at Inca's weekly market. Sounds dreamy, doesn't it?

When you're not basking in the blue skies and fresh air at home, you'll be well-placed to explore the island. Head 3km to the nearby town of Inca for charming eateries, boutiques selling locally-made leather goods and cosy cafes. Need a bit more buzz? Palma isn't fa – about a half-hour drive – and promises plenty of chic restaurants and lively nightlife. And, of course, you can't visit Mallorca without spending a day or two a the beach – our favourites are Port d'Alcúdia and Playa del Muro, both easily reached by car.

In Halcyon

Set just outside the small town of Búger, this charming traditional stone villa offers a countryside escape for those looking for tranquillity off the tourist trail. Its hillside setting, surrounded by thick woodland, only adds to the feeling of isolation. 

Spend sun-kissed days laid out by the pool with a book in one hand and a cold drink in the other, while there are two outdoor dining areas to choose from when you get peckish. The waterside option is best for the heat of midday, while the first-floor terrace offers far-reaching views over the island that pair nicely with dinner.

Take a break from the heat in the vast open-plan living area, which offers front-row seats to the scenery courtesy of a series of doors lining the facade. A comfortable seating area surrounds the TV, while a well-equipped kitchen and dining area offer everything any aspiring home cook might need.

When you're not sunning yourself or socialising, the villa's three bedrooms offer soothing spaces to indulge in mid-afternoon siestas and unwind before bed. The main bedroom boasts an en-suite bathroom – with a Jacuzzi tub – for a little extra privacy and relaxation.

Head to Búger to stock up on essentials at the supermarket, but not before treating yourself to a drink in its charming coffee shop and stocking up on fresh pastries at the patisserie. Slightly further afield, the town of Sa Pobla hosts a farmer's market every Sunday and a few more bar and restaurant options. From here, it's a short drive to the golden sands of the picturesque Playa del Muro, while the untamed beauty of Cap de Formentor lies to the north.

It's an easy drive down to Alcudia Bay, but why would you need to when you can sunbathe and swim at home? Then again, the stylish and modern kitchen may be a treat when you're in the mood to cook up a storm, but there's nothing quite like trying something new in a local restaurant, especially by the sandy beaches and glittering sea. Golf lovers will be within easy reach of courses, and you'll easily spend hours exploring the nearby towns, popping into every traditional shop and looking in the windows of every cafe. Kids will love the nearby beaches and it's well worth exploring the local area. But at this home, you'll know that a day in isn't a day wasted.

With an idyllic setting on a 30-hectare ecological estate, this villa is the perfect country retreat. Located a thirty-minute drive from Palma and the north coast, a car is recommended but it’s worth it to explore this beautiful island.

One glance at the exterior of this rural Mallorcan finca and you'll fall in love with the rustic character. Tan-coloured stone, clay roof, terracotta tiles – it's as traditional as they come. On cooler evenings, snuggle up by the wood-burning fire with a glass of wine and gather around the dining table for a homemade meal. Finish the night with a soak in the main bedroom’s en-suite tub before retiring to bed for a serene night’s sleep. 

When it comes to exploring the local area, the town of Inca is a fifteen-minute drive away, while charming Llubí is five minutes away by car. If a day at the beach is in order, drive just over twenty minutes to C'an Picafort or visit Alcúdia with its medieval walls, just under thirty minutes away by car.

Located in charming Búger, this family-friendly, quiet village in central - northern Mallorca has a range of amenities, such as a grocery shop and a few restaurants. A twenty-minute drive, on the other hand, will take you to some wonderful beaches, such as Puerto de Alcudia and Can Picafort.

This beautiful villa is in the heart of Caimari in the foothills of the Tramuntana Mountains. It’s a fabulous holiday home for a peaceful family escape, in an excellent spot for cycling. The garden is spread between different terraces, from which you can admire views of the surrounding landscape. We love the private pool and the Balinese daybeds around it, as well as the pergola with a shaded dining table – there’s a barbecue and fire pit, too. The home is filled with art and sculptures – there’s something to admire at every turn.
