Nestled in a quiet rural area on the outskirts of Marratxí, yet less than fifteen minutes by car to bustling Palma, this villa promises the best of both worlds. From here, you can stroll into the centre of Santa Maria in just ten-minutes, while Palma is just a twenty-minute drive away.

With a view that cries out for an infinity pool, this hillside villa gets its wish. When your fingers start getting pruney from hanging out at the edge of the water, jump in the outdoor shower and dry out on the sun loungers and shaded sofas. There's a lovely terrace for an evening drink and a barbecue, so you can cook dinner without losing sight of the mountains. There's an extra room on the second floor adjoining a laundry room, with a small bathroom and a kitchen if you need extra space. Get outside for a mountain hike, take advantage of the well-equipped gym, or siesta all day – this setting will leave you refreshed and reinvigorated.

You’ll be well looked after here with a daily housekeeping service and a pool and garden attendant to set up the poolside area every day. Your host can even arrange a private chef to cook for you. Location wise, you’re within walking distance of the Majorcan coast and less than an hour away by car from the capital, Palma.

Later you can burn the calories with a game of tennis or basketball, followed by a cooling dip in the pool. In part of the gardens you'll be greeted by the resident flock of sheep – feed them a few stalks of grass and they’ll love you to bits. 

If you manage to tear yourself away from this designer retreat, the village of Alaró has grocery stores, restaurants, and a trendy little gallery hosting exhibitions by local artists. The nightlife and beaches of Palma are a thirty-minute drive away. In the evening, wind down in the hot tub while sipping wine and taking in the views of the Alaró Mountains.

Earthly Delights

A hedonistic paradise – this luxury home has a whirlpool with multicoloured lights, disco, karaoke, gym, cinema and games room, as well as a gorgeous swimming pool (and a room with an underwater window to the pool). This place really does have the wow factor – seriously, we didn’t want to leave. 

Unwind in the swing seat in the garden and take in the views, or enjoy some coca de trampó for lunch at the outdoor dining table. There’s plenty of room to entertain in the sophisticated open plan living space – there’s a piano too if you fancy tinkling the ivories. 

This modern mansion is perfect for a special celebration with a large group of friends or family who want to be near Palma. It’s just a ten-minute drive into the centre and the beautiful Cathedral of Santa Maria of Palma (La Seu), or fifteen minutes by bike (your lovely host provides bicycles). Best of all, this home is only 150 metres from Ciutat Jardí Beach.



Palma Nirvana

When you think of Mallorca, you might not think of mountains – but the Serra de Tramuntana is a range that forms the backbone of the island. It's here, in a secluded spot surrounded by a forest of oak trees, that you'll find this handsome villa. It has been recently renovated, but still retains the rustic finca spirit, which you'll find reflected in the archways and wooden beams. 

The inside is perfectly polished, with a smart marble kitchen and impressive spiral staircase along with plenty of artistic touches. However it's the outside space that will really take your breath away. Soak up the sun on one of the terraces, before plunging into the sparkling swimming pool to cool off, as you admire the views across the hills. 

It's the perfect hideaway but it’s easy enough to go exploring if you fancy it. You can walk into Galilea in five minutes – it’s a sleepy little village with heaps of charm and a couple of bars and restaurants. If you want to experience Mallorca as the locals do, this is a great place to start. For more action, hop in the car and discover mountain villages and secret coves, or head off on bikes with a picnic. This is a great part of Mallorca for trekking, climbing and cycling. The beach at Cala Fornells is a thirty-two-minute drive, and you can be in Palma in thirty-nine minutes. 



Hush Hush

Hidden away in the stunning Sierra Tramuntana above the picturesque village of Esporles, this charming villa offers something of a haven to hikers, bikers and families simply looking to enjoy a rustic retreat away from the usual tourist hotspots.

Driving up the winding roads is a breathtaking experience in itself, with increasingly spectacular views on show as you ascend to your mountain refuge. Open up the imposing wooden front door to reveal an open living area with bags of retro appeal. Cool tiled floors lead you towards the star of the show – those jaw-dropping mountain and valley vistas, stretching as far as the eye can see.  

The home's exterior has been designed to make the most of the scenery, with comfortable covered seating areas, outdoor dining options and a selection of seating options dotted around the private pool. So whether you're up early for that first sip of coffee as the sun rises over the sierras, looking to spend your day relaxed and reclined by the inviting pool, or serving up homemade meals on the terrace, the mountains are an ever-present backdrop to your stay.

To adventurous types and thrill seekers, the Sierra Tramuntana are an action-packed playground, with challenging hikes up steep escarpments and bone-shaking mountain bike trails close by. After working up an appetite, the conveniently located La Posada del Marqués is a 16th-century stone mansion that serves up gourmet Mediterranean cuisine enhanced with products grown in their organic garden.

Away from your mountain sanctuary, there are popular hikes departing from Esporles. After an early start, why not continue to the coast for a refreshing dip at Cala Banyulbafar, or return home for a chance to change before heading into the stunning city of Palma, where you can easily while away an afternoon exploring its atmospheric old town before enjoying a top-class meal.
