This fabulous period townhouse is a real find. Authentic, beautifully styled and packed with character, it's a homage to the city and its history. Set over five floors, including the stunning roof terrace, its green shuttered windows and balconies are in keeping with the area's traditional feel, and the interior, while stylish and comfortable, reminds us of a museum. Whites and terracotta tones make for a timeless feel, while architectural features like the marble staircase and beamed ceilings provide a backdrop to a collection of antiques, vintage artworks and local artefacts – some even displayed in cabinets. 

The living space is exquisite, with windows to three sides, a comfy sofa and an open plan kitchen and dining space, and although the kitchen isn't huge, the host has managed to pack in everything you could need. But we think you're likely to be eating on the roof terrace most evenings. With its own small preparation kitchen to save you lugging dishes up the stairs, this space is simply beautiful. Eat together at the little table, read on the sun loungers or just take in the views across the rooftops. Given some privacy by a series of screening curtains, it's a superb place to watch the sun go down with a good bottle of wine.

Step back in time at this immaculate apartment housed in a historic casa in Palma's Old Quarter. As quintessentially Mallorcan as it gets, ornate iron balconies tumbling with greenery greet you on arrival, while a dizzying spiral staircase creates quite an entrance inside.

But this place hides a few surprises too. At the heart of the home is a private inner courtyard garden that bathes the living areas in natural light. And over in the bedrooms, which each boast access to a charming balcony and their own bathroom, this home keeps on delivering the unexpected. Cast your eyes upwards to discover the most astonishingly beautiful frescoes we ever did see. 

And yet, despite all this opulence, there's a quiet elegance about the whole space that we love. White walls and rustic wooden furnishings skillfully dial down the ornate historic features, while a cosy sitting area and tasteful soft furnishings give the place a homely feel.

Outside this luxurious home, you'll find you're just steps away from the city's must-see sights. The stunning Cathedral of Santa Maria of Palma is just a seven-minute stroll away. And when thoughts turn to food, Plaça Major (one minute on foot) will easily deliver tasty tapas and a glass of something chilled. There are another couple of marketplaces a five-minute stroll too. Pick up some flowers from the stalls on Passeig de la Rambla, or browse Mercat de l’Olivar for seafood, cheese, pastries and other local delicacies. The Birth Of The Day

Although this apartment's located in an eighteenth-century mansion in Palma's Old Town, the interior is delightfully modern. The minimalist kitchen is dominated by sleek finishes, while the living room's stark white walls and wooden floorboards look similarly smart.

That's not to say it's completely anonymous, though. There are some Asian influences in the decorations, particularly the elephant statue and the orange patterned rug. We're also big fans of the intricate mosaic tiling in the bathroom too, also in sunset tones.

When you want a breath of fresh air, simply step out onto the home's balcony and gaze out onto the street below. Plaça Major sits just one minute's walk away and Museu Fundació Joan March is another sixty seconds beyond that. The city's gothic cathedral only takes six minutes to reach on foot, too.

And, if you fancy a day trip to the historic city of Palma, you can drive over to visit the cathedral and fortress within fifteen minutes.

If you decide to explore, you'll find both Port Adriano and Port Andratx close by.
