This recently renovated 19th-century finca is the Mallorcan dream. Take in the vistas of the golden fields of Sant Joan from the terrace while you lounge by the emerald green pool. Inside, we love the traditional features, such as exposed stone, wooden beams and terracotta tiled floors. 

If you fancy exploring, the town of Sant Joan is a five-minute drive, while the long, white sandy beach of Playa de Muro, popular with families, is just over thirty minutes in the car. Stylish Palma, on the other hand, is just over a forty-minute ride away, where you'll find an array of fine-dining spots and cool art galleries, as well as its honey-coloured Gothic cathedral.

From urban centres like Palma, to quaint towns like Maria de la Salut (a fourteen-minute walk from this home), the island offers many ways to keep you busy. Hiking, watersports, and browsing local markets are more options that might take your fancy – but maybe you’re just here to relax?

In this secluded villa, relaxation is the first port of call. While some might opt for the Mediterranean lifestyle of local beaches such as Can Picafort, a fifteen-minute drive away, you can experience the sea in your private saltwater pool. With plenty of sun loungers, and an outdoor shower, you can bring the beach to your own home.

Eco-friendly sensibilities such as solar panels make the most of the sunshine, which you can also do up on the raised decking, with a verandah for wining and dining. Out front, there’s yet another outdoor lounge with comfy wicker furniture, creating an old-fashioned, rural feel in contrast to beautifully modern interiors. While we admit that you might not be spending much time indoors, we love the monochrome colour scheme of the living space, alongside minimalist furnishings, and exposed stone walls.

Fresh as a daisy, this cantaloupe-coloured villa surrounded by meadows is a restorative treat. The all-white interiors create calm from the minute you arrive, and you can really tell the host has chosen the furnishings thoughtfully. The fairy light jars and floral accents are endearing touches, but you won’t be able to resist a whirlwind romance with the private garden. 

In juxtaposition with the interior, outside is an oasis of nature and colour impossible not to fall in love with. You can spend all day out here and never get bored. We earmarked the hammock for afternoon siestas straight away and loved the fact we could enjoy our homemade lunch in the shade of the arbour. A post-lunch hot tub dip will become a daily ritual, before rinsing off in the outdoor shower and heading on foot into Villafranca de Bonany (a ten-minute walk) for an evening tapas meal.

But while tennis fans now flock to this former agricultural hub, there are still elements of its former self. Just a seven-minute drive from the centre, this enormous finca is ready to welcome you to countryside life. 

Surrounded by lush trees and fields, this is rural living on a grand scale. Set over thousands of square feet, you can easily start feeling lost among the grounds of this manor. The coast might be twenty minutes away, but your swimming pool can help make up for this. With four-poster Bali beds around the pool, as well as a sun lounger for everyone, it’s a tough choice between catching rays, swimmings lengths, or exploring the home.

Follow the path up to the bright-red door and traditional wooden shutters of the facade. This theme of bold colour and rustic wood continues indoors. There’s nothing but fields and palm trees as far as the eye can see at this secluded villa. Well, you can also catch a fringe of hazy mountains in the distance too. Though you’re in the heart of the Mallorcan countryside here, it’s just a six-minute drive to the beautiful town of Manacor which is packed with shops, restaurants and bars in its old centre. For a beach day, it’s a fifteen-minute drive to Portocristo where there’s a long sweep of beach lined with bars and restaurants.

Though, with outdoor space like this, you may want to spend all your time relaxing at the villa. Loungers and double day beds line the pristine swimming pool, where reclining comes with a view out over the fields for miles. We love the patio beneath the bamboo pergola, which provides a shaded spot for outdoor dining, particularly easy with a summer kitchen equipped with a fridge, barbecue grills, sink and plenty of prep space. 

Or head indoors to cook in the jolly fire-engine-red kitchen. There’s plenty of room in here to have several chefs cooking at once and a long dining table at its centre. Bedrooms are blissfully breezy and rustic, with hardwood floors and wooden ceilings like the Mallorcan farmhouses of old. Most have double glass doors, so you can tumble from bed to patio or terrace in minutes.

This villa really intrigued us with its unusual mix of red render and warm exposed stone. Relax on the daybeds by the beautiful pool, which has been converted from an ancient reservoir. Surrounded by manicured gardens and mature trees – take in the views of the mountains and truly unwind.

We love so much about this place, but the enclosed courtyard garden draped with sheer black fabric and dotted with lush plants is magical – take a seat on the Acapulco-style chairs with a glass of wine. Then there's the huge living room which is something else. Here, you'll find luxurious leather sofas, a modern fireplace and a wall lined with books – it's perfect for some "me" time. This house is ideal for a family or group of friends as there's plenty of space to spread out, and two bedrooms can only be accessed from outside, giving them added privacy.

Although located in a quiet countryside setting, this home is just a short distance from the town of Manacor. It's the second largest town in Mallorca, so you'll find plenty of shops and a bustling market. This 250-year-old rural villa is tucked away in Mallorca's lush countryside. The remote surroundings mean you'll have plenty of privacy, but it comes with one downside – the nearest town, restaurant, and beach are only reachable by car. But, seeing as there's private parking here, that shouldn’t be a problem. Besides, the outdoor terraces and private pool are perfect for relaxing in the sunshine, and with a bundle of bedrooms, space won’t be an issue. This is a charmingly old home, so expect some wear and tear inside and out. That said, if traditional character and seclusion are what you're after, this could fit the bill nicely.

You’ll find the centre of Sineu is just a short walk away – making it easy to explore the atmospheric streets, browse the abundant weekly market and sample the traditional bars and restaurants.

On the ground floor, the sun-dappled living room opens up onto a lovely terrace and garden – welcoming you to enjoy refreshing swims and golden afternoons watching the light dance in the trees. And when the sun begins to set, the upstairs balcony makes an idyllic spot to savour the magic of Mallorca.

Reside in peace at this luxurious and unique villa. The living spaces have ample room for socialising and unwinding together with your loved ones. Snuggle up on the sofa to watch a movie on the TV, accompanied by a freshly opened bottle of wine. As you wander through the home, you'll find that there is a wonderful amount of natural daylight that streams in through the windows, especially the courtyard doors. The sleek wooden kitchen is the perfect spot to whip up a fruity dessert or a savoury feast. 

Tuck into tasty plates of food at the wooden dining table, lit up by the sunlight. There's also a dining table outdoors if you're fancying a delightful alfresco experience,  followed by enjoying a rich cup of coffee under the shade of the trees. One of our favourite areas of this home is the workspace, fitted with a standalone bath where you can admire the rural view as you unwind in the bubbles. The refreshing pool is positioned directly under the sun, where you can bathe in not only the rippling water but also the radiant sunshine.

Wander through the charming Santa Margalida village, or travel to the center of Mallorca. There's a beach not too far away with gorgeous white sands and sparkling waters. Visit a wide range of eateries that serve up traditional local cuisine, including a sumptuous beachside paella. You'll also come across the buzz of the Picafort and Puerto de Alcudia promenades.

Crystal Paradise

Wake up to the scent of the blooms that clamber around this beautiful yellow-shuttered home and take a moment. This is what holidays are all about. 
This little slice of heaven is just outside of bustling Manacor but feels tranquil enough to be on its own private island. Acres of lush land spill out towards breath-taking views of distant mountains, and vibrant gardens are littered with brightly coloured flowers and plants. 

Spend your morning by the pool, hopping in for a dip to cool off every now and then. The poolside lawn means there’s plenty of room for fun and games, so any children – and big kids – in your party have space to play. 
At lunchtime serve local sobrassada on thick slices of rustic bread, and drizzle it in honey. Choose a spot on the terrace amid the flowers, or head to the shade if you need a break from the Mallorcan sun – there’s a lovely cushioned seating area that offers some truly magnificent views. 

If you find yourself in need of a slightly faster pace, drive seven minutes to Manacor. There you can admire the stunning church or sip coffee between shops. Visit on a Monday for one of the most popular markets in Mallorca – get there early to nab the best supplies for a barbecue back at the villa. 

If soft white sand and crystal clear waters are too tempting to resist, you’re in luck. The closest beach can be reached in less than twenty minutes, so after a day of building sandcastles you can make it back to the villa for sunset – with views like these, it’s not to be missed.

This Mallorcan villa 500 metres from the town centre of Santa Margarita offers plenty in the way of fun and enjoyment. The funky modern decor may not be to everybody’s taste, but it’s really all about the facilities here. The home boasts a cinema room and private gym, as well as outdoor amenities including a pool, Jacuzzi, sauna and even a covered pool table and ping-pong table for more hours of entertainment. You can stock up on local fruit and vegetables at Santa Margarita’s bi-weekly market, or head to Can Picafort or Son Serra de Marina beach – both only a twenty-minute drive away.

Make the short drive into the historic town of Sineu, where you’ll find ancient blonde stone buildings – if you're here on a Wednesday, stop in at the bustling town market, brimming with local delicacies.

It’s hard to believe that this beautiful home was so recently a dilapidated ruin. The owners, who fell in love with the centuries-old farmhouse and saw its potential, have lovingly restored it. It sits within more than four hectares of land in the Llubi countryside, at the heart of Sa Part Forana, and is one of the most breath-taking holiday homes in the area. 

The history of the home has been respected, so you’ll find heaps of charm and original features – we love the beams and exposed stone walls. In keeping with traditional Mallorcan values, you’ll also find lots of areas for you to gather together as a family, whether it’s at the dining table, around the wood-burning stove, or in the alfresco dining area. After spending your mornings swimming in the refreshingly cool swimming pool, why not fire up the barbecue for a lunchtime feast? Sit together late into the afternoon, sipping local wine and making memories – this is what holidays are all about. 

The old farmhouse courtyard surrounds the garden, and the shaded porch is the perfect place to get lost in a good book. 

Though you’ll find it hard to tear yourself away from this dreamy home, you might want to explore further afield. It takes twelve minutes to drive to nearby Inca, where you can shop for supplies or simply sit in a plaza drinking coffee and watching the world go by. The picturesque settlement of Valldemossa is forty-one minutes away by car, making it perfect for day trips. 


Farmer's Rest

Perched near the sleepy village of Santa Margalida and surrounded by meadows, this home is the perfect rural retreat. While the stone-clad exteriors are quintessentially Mallorcan, the interiors feel more contemporary, with bedrooms spaced apart to give everyone a little extra privacy. Fancy breaking up pool days with a trip to the beach? Take your pick from the fine sands of Playa de Muro and Son Serra de Marina – both are just a short drive away. Then swing by Santa Margalida on the way back – the plaza with a clutch of tapas bars is an evening well spent.

Brigada Balearica

The rustic charm of this home is the perfect match for its rural surroundings – making it the ideal setting for a soothing island escape. You’ll be surrounded by trees, with plenty of outdoor space to lounge in the shade and swim in the pool. Child-friendly amenities can be provided and your host is on hand to organise nice extras like grocery deliveries. From here, it’s just a short drive to Felanitx (5 kilometres away), with Cala Sa Nau beach just 17 kilometres away. 

Forever in our Love

Sometimes you want to get away from it all, and sometimes it’s nice to be in town. This classic beauty of a Mallorcan villa offers both, sitting on a quiet street, 150 metres from the centre of Llubí. In the heart of town, you’ll find tree-lined streets leading to squares crowned with ancient churches. Pavement cafés spill into the street and bakeries and cafés provide traditional breakfast options. It’s in the heart of the Mallorcan hills, so cyclists will be particularly pleased with the location (there are bike racks in the garage too).

Heading back to the villa, you can unwind with a float about in the swimming pool, or perhaps indulge in a long, lazy dinner in the shade at the outdoor dining table. From here, you can admire the honey-brown stonework adorned with dazzling modern art by the Moorish wooden doors. Take your pre-dinner drink on the plush terrace sofas and enjoy the last of the evening sun. 

Inside, the villa is sleek and sophisticated with touches of old-world charm. Marble columns and the grand marble staircase caught our eye the second we walked in, and hand-carved wooden bedframes feel like they have Moorish roots. There are two living rooms to choose from – one with a plush, tufted sofa and the other with a delightfully retro suite. Our favourite spot might have to be the second terrace, shaded by a sail-like parasol and lined with balustrades.

Festooned with tumbling bougainvillea and glowing from top-to-toe in crisp white, this recently renovated home is everything you want your Mallorcan retreat to be. And locations don't get much better either. You can be swimming off the sandy shores of Cala Millor or mooching along its seafront promenade bustling with restaurants and bars in just an eight-minute stroll.

Though you might find all you need back at home. Perfectly geared to alfresco living, sunny mornings call for lazy breakfasts on one of the two furnished outdoor terraces before a cool dip in the pool. And if you think the garden looks pretty now – wait till you see the festoon lights flicker on at night. It's a magical place to spend evenings with sundowners and a barbecue.

When it's time to beat the heat, there are heaps of activities to keep everyone happy indoors. A games cabinet stacked with toys and a games console should keep the kids (and big kids) busy or crash out with a movie in the cosy living area. 

Well suited for friends or family sharing – bedrooms are spaced out over two floors to give guests that extra bit of privacy and united by the same pared-back and calming palette. We don't know about you, but it all sounds pretty dreamy to us.
