Spread across three levels, you’ll find a chic mix of statement lighting, striking tiles and one-off pieces. There’s a lovely balcony and patio area, and a Jotul wood burner for winter stays. 

But the focal point of the home has to be the roof terrace with its outdoor sofa and beautiful views across the town to the Puig de Maria. We can see ourselves sunbathing here or enjoying pre-dinner cocktails. The cobbled streets of Pollença town are outside your door and you’re a 15-minute drive from the pretty coastal resort of Puerto de Pollença. Spend your days sightseeing or soaking up some sun, sea and sand, before an evening of tapas and sangria on Pollença’s bustling square, and a spot of stargazing on the roof terrace.

Stone-clad and splendid, the main house here dates back to the 16th century. It’s an old farmhouse which once housed the olive press for the surrounding groves and you can feel this history in each terracotta-floored room inside. There’s something soothing about the timber beams of the low ceiling in the living room and the hearth-like fireplace is a nod to the old world. An open archway opens up to the dining room and there’s a second sitting room with cute, wooden-shuttered windows. Another stone archway reveals a full-sized snooker table for sociable evenings indoors and the dine-in kitchen is perfect for big, bustling family breakfasts dappled in sunshine.

But it’s the outdoors that really grabbed our attention. 175 acres of land is home to olive groves, a babbling river and orange groves. You can even enjoy a stroll through the evergreen oak woodlands without leaving the privacy of the grounds. The free-form swimming pool is like a huge lagoon on the terrace and we love the stone dining table beneath the twisting vines. Balconies and patios provide places to look out over the grounds, like a monarch surveying your kingdom, and Mallorca’s picturesque mountains flank you on all sides. 

Location-wise, you’re secluded in the countryside, but the honey-hued traditional town of Pollensa is just six kilometres away for restaurants, shops, bars and cafes.

While some of the interiors may be a little dated for some, there’s no denying this place hasn’t got character and wooden shutters in spades. Those travelling with younger children may find those low walls with drops within the villa grounds and ladder effect railings a little hair-raising – little ones will need to be supervised at all times. But you can’t beat its location – with the Old Town of Pollensa within walking distance and the gently sloping sands of Puerto Pollensa just a short spin away.

You’ll find this typically Mallorcan villa a five-minute wander from the heart of Pollença’s old town, where charming cafes, bars and restaurants line the cobblestone streets and a farmers market sells fresh produce every Sunday. A short drive to the northeast places you at Port de Pollença, famous for its picturesque beaches and hiking opportunities – the Boquer Valley walk was one of our favourites. After soaking up the sunshine on Platja Can Cap de Bou, head home for a barbecue on the patio and some drinks by the pool. 

Listen to the cicadas chirp as you enjoy a game of table tennis in the garden then head inside to unwind in the cosy living space – we loved the rustic ceiling beams and exposed stone walls. This charming 16th-century finca has been completely renovated into a relaxing holiday home. It’s situated between Pollensa and Puerta Pollensa in Sierra de Tramuntana, so you’ll have mountain views while also being close to beaches, restaurants, and markets. The finca used to be an oil mill and that historic charm has been retained – think classic stone walls and wooden beams. There’s a delightful terrace with a pergola, a great spot for alfresco dining, in addition to a heated swimming pool, where we’d be spending most of our time. You can also look forward to working up a sweat playing petanque and table tennis.

We highly recommend a visit to Pollensa town to fully appreciate the area's history and culture. Stroll down the attractive narrow streets to admire the traditional architecture and signs of a fascinating past, then head to the impressive main square, where you can stop at one of the cafes for a cafe con leche.  

While you're in town, pick some up some fresh ingredients then head home to try cooking some local dishes on the barbecue. The outdoor dining table is ideal for alfresco family feasts, surrounded by spectacular scenery. Post-dinner, go up to the balcony with a glass of wine to watch the sun set over the beautiful landscape, or get cosy inside by the fireplace.

Overlooking the Tramuntana Mountains in a secluded setting, yet less than a ten-minute drive to Majorca's best beaches and Pollensa Old Town – this traditional finca offers the best of both worlds.
