It’s a serviced holiday home, so a dedicated team of staff will be on-hand to prepare your meals and help make your stay memorable for all the right reasons. The setting in the mountains of Alaro adds to the relaxing vibe – as you sip sunset cocktails on the terrace or swim in the private heated pool, you’ll be able to admire views of Castell d’Alaro and the Tramuntana Mountains. The home dates back to 1350 but has been lovingly refurbished into an elegant escape, equipped with all the modern comforts you might need – including a sauna, gym, and badminton court.

This fabulous period townhouse is a real find. Authentic, beautifully styled and packed with character, it's a homage to the city and its history. Set over five floors, including the stunning roof terrace, its green shuttered windows and balconies are in keeping with the area's traditional feel, and the interior, while stylish and comfortable, reminds us of a museum. Whites and terracotta tones make for a timeless feel, while architectural features like the marble staircase and beamed ceilings provide a backdrop to a collection of antiques, vintage artworks and local artefacts – some even displayed in cabinets. 

The living space is exquisite, with windows to three sides, a comfy sofa and an open plan kitchen and dining space, and although the kitchen isn't huge, the host has managed to pack in everything you could need. But we think you're likely to be eating on the roof terrace most evenings. With its own small preparation kitchen to save you lugging dishes up the stairs, this space is simply beautiful. Eat together at the little table, read on the sun loungers or just take in the views across the rooftops. Given some privacy by a series of screening curtains, it's a superb place to watch the sun go down with a good bottle of wine.

From here, you can wander down to Portals Nous Beach within just seven minutes to paddle in the clear waters and kick back on the sand to soak up some rays. Portals Nous itself also has a range of seafood restaurants and chic bars along the marina, where you can sip a glass of wine and watch the boats bobbing in the water. And, if you fancy a day trip to the historic city of Palma, you can drive over to visit the cathedral and fortress within fifteen minutes.

This place really does have the wow factor – seriously, we didn’t want to leave. 

Unwind in the swing seat in the garden and take in the views, or enjoy some coca de trampó for lunch at the outdoor dining table. There’s plenty of room to entertain in the sophisticated open plan living space – there’s a piano too if you fancy tinkling the ivories. 

This modern mansion is perfect for a special celebration with a large group of friends or family who want to be near Palma. It’s just a ten-minute drive into the centre and the beautiful Cathedral of Santa Maria of Palma (La Seu), or fifteen minutes by bike (your lovely host provides bicycles). The ultra-modern exterior combines geometric shapes and clean lines with glass and wood, for a striking effect. This stylish look continues inside, where you'll find a floating staircase, contemporary art and a chic, neutral colour palette. If you need to work then you can do so in the study, but if it's fun times only for you then you can play some table football or soak in the Jacuzzi tub. Outside, the sparkling pool is great for a refreshing swim and there is plenty of seating where you can soak up the sun. 

Take a wander down to the water's edge to listen to the waves and enjoy a dip in the sea. Lively S'Arenal is just three kilometres away, where you can visit a range of restaurants and bars after spending a day on the sandy beach. The Birth Of The Day

This stunning villa was featured in a leading local design magazine, and it’s easy to see why. Inside, a predominantly white-and-blue colour scheme, high ceilings, stylish rattan furniture, and potted palms create a relaxing, breezy beach vibe that puts you at ease instantly. A choice of thirty fruit trees in the orchard, plus numerous vegetables and herbs in the garden, make it super easy to pick the ingredients for lunch. 

Whip up a sumptuous Mediterranean feast in the modern kitchen, and then round up everyone for a lazy meal in one of the numerous indoor and outdoor dining areas. Later you can burn the calories with a game of tennis or basketball, followed by a cooling dip in the pool. In part of the gardens you'll be greeted by the resident flock of sheep – feed them a few stalks of grass and they’ll love you to bits. 

If you manage to tear yourself away from this designer retreat, the village of Alaró has grocery stores, restaurants, and a trendy little gallery hosting exhibitions by local artists. The nightlife and beaches of Palma are a thirty-minute drive away. In the evening, wind down in the hot tub while sipping wine and taking in the views of the Alaró Mountains.

Earthly Delights

Although this apartment's located in an eighteenth-century mansion in Palma's Old Town, the interior is delightfully modern. The minimalist kitchen is dominated by sleek finishes, while the living room's stark white walls and wooden floorboards look similarly smart.

That's not to say it's completely anonymous, though. There are some Asian influences in the decorations, particularly the elephant statue and the orange patterned rug. We're also big fans of the intricate mosaic tiling in the bathroom too, also in sunset tones.

When you want a breath of fresh air, simply step out onto the home's balcony and gaze out onto the street below. Plaça Major sits just one minute's walk away and Museu Fundació Joan March is another sixty seconds beyond that. The city's gothic cathedral only takes six minutes to reach on foot, too.
