Hiking, watersports, and browsing local markets are more options that might take your fancy – but maybe you’re just here to relax?

In this secluded villa, relaxation is the first port of call. While some might opt for the Mediterranean lifestyle of local beaches such as Can Picafort, a fifteen-minute drive away, you can experience the sea in your private saltwater pool. With plenty of sun loungers, and an outdoor shower, you can bring the beach to your own home.

Eco-friendly sensibilities such as solar panels make the most of the sunshine, which you can also do up on the raised decking, with a verandah for wining and dining. Out front, there’s yet another outdoor lounge with comfy wicker furniture, creating an old-fashioned, rural feel in contrast to beautifully modern interiors. While we admit that you might not be spending much time indoors, we love the monochrome colour scheme of the living space, alongside minimalist furnishings, and exposed stone walls.

Several steps down from this shady pergola, perhaps the barbecue station will tempt you into a sunset supper. With lovely landscape views, who wouldn't want to sunbathe by the plunge pool? A stunning stone house with acres of lush land and a swimming pool – do holiday homes get any better than this? This gorgeous finca is just outside of the town of Maria de la Salut, with so much land that it feels like a private estate. There’s a forest area to the rear of the property, which is wonderful for walks, and there are peacocks, sheep and horses on the land too – there’s no need to make their acquaintance unless you want to though. 

The home is spacious, light and stylish, with quirky design details that show the owners’ passion for all things two-wheeled – check out the Rieju bike and the fully functioning bike workshop. Best of all though, there's a splendid saltwater pool surrounded by sun loungers and sunshine. 

A trip to Maria de la Salut’s Friday market is a great way to live like a local. Be sure to check out the 16th-century church on your way to the town square, where you can tuck into some local delicacies and sip wine. Can Picafort beach is just a fifteen-minute drive from the villa, so snorkelling and sandcastles are well within reach. 

Spend your evenings in town, or make the most of the villa’s outdoor space and dine under the pergola. The barbecue is ideal for easy dinners, and a great way to sample the local produce from the market.

You'll be perfectly placed to explore Muro and the surrounding areas – you'll want to have a car with you for ease of getting around, but once you do you won't be driving long. The sleek wooden kitchen is the perfect spot to whip up a fruity dessert or a savoury feast. 

Tuck into tasty plates of food at the wooden dining table, lit up by the sunlight. There's also a dining table outdoors if you're fancying a delightful alfresco experience,  followed by enjoying a rich cup of coffee under the shade of the trees. One of our favourite areas of this home is the workspace, fitted with a standalone bath where you can admire the rural view as you unwind in the bubbles. The refreshing pool is positioned directly under the sun, where you can bathe in not only the rippling water but also the radiant sunshine.

Wander through the charming Santa Margalida village, or travel to the center of Mallorca. There's a beach not too far away with gorgeous white sands and sparkling waters. Visit a wide range of eateries that serve up traditional local cuisine, including a sumptuous beachside paella. You'll also come across the buzz of the Picafort and Puerto de Alcudia promenades.

This Mallorcan villa 500 metres from the town centre of Santa Margarita offers plenty in the way of fun and enjoyment. The funky modern decor may not be to everybody’s taste, but it’s really all about the facilities here. The home boasts a cinema room and private gym, as well as outdoor amenities including a pool, Jacuzzi, sauna and even a covered pool table and ping-pong table for more hours of entertainment. You can stock up on local fruit and vegetables at Santa Margarita’s bi-weekly market, or head to Can Picafort or Son Serra de Marina beach – both only a twenty-minute drive away.

Design, art and functionality work in perfect harmony at this rural villa. The high beamed ceilings and framed sections of old stone walls honour the home's roots, but it's not just traditional charm on offer. There's plenty of contemporary comforts and 21st century style to be found, including abstract artwork on the walls, a 360-degree rotating LCD TV in the bright living area and a sparkling infinity pool ideal for cooling off on balmy summer days. Inside, everything is cool and sleek, but outside, it's a true oasis. Laze about on the Balinese sunbed or soak up some rays on the funky deck chairs, all while admiring the idyllic orchard scenery. In the evenings, fire up the brick barbecue and enjoy an alfresco meal and a glass of Mallorcan wine while the sun goes down. You're a little off the beaten track here, though it's only a five-minute drive to Muro's selection of shops, cafes and restaurants. The beach is a bit further – Platja de Muro and Alcúdia are about thirty minutes away – but we think the extra time is worth it for such a peaceful spot.

The ability to glide through the house means whoever's cooking can flit between the kitchen and seating areas with ease. 

Pour yourself a glass of wine at the breakfast bar, before spilling out onto the covered terrace for a lazy lunch in the sun. Fire up the barbecue and spend the afternoon in the garden. Swim a few leisurely laps, before picking out of a lounger for a serious tanning session and a little afternoon snooze. While you could easily spend the entire day hanging out at home, we recommend you drive fifteen minutes to the nearest beach at Platja de Muro. Head out to explore and in addition to the nearby beaches, the historic town of Muro, with sandstone buildings, Sunday markets and an old church awaits your arrival, just ten minutes away by car.

Tucked away in a rural setting in the heart of Mallorca, this finca is a stunning holiday home. 100 years ago, the finca was a shepherd’s house – it’s since been lovingly renovated into an eco-friendly escape full of charm. Views of the Tramuntana Mountains are a backdrop to the plant-filled garden, where you can swim in the private heated pool. The terrace is equipped with a comfy seating area as well as an outdoor dining table – there’s a barbecue to cook on, and your host can also arrange for a private chef to make your meals all the more special. The surrounding area is ideal for hikers and cyclists, and you can reach beaches in thirty minutes by car.

This home sits in the buzzing inland town of Sa Pobla, where you can experience a slice of real Mallorcan life. You’ve got streets filled with restaurants, bars and cafés galore, plus plenty of shops, but this place hasn’t quite made it on the tourism radar. Perfect for those that like a bit of authenticity.

You could make the short drive to the beach at Alcudia, or just stick around in the courtyard garden by the Jacuzzi. Pot plants provide a bit of greenery and there’s a wooden dining table for alfresco lunches. Inside, we love the original tiled floor of the living room, a nod to the 19th-century architecture that surrounds you. Stone archways and wood beams are in display and a grand old staircase leads up to the bedrooms. A couple of the bedrooms have Juliet balconies looking out over the atmospheric street before you.

This recently renovated 19th-century finca is the Mallorcan dream. Take in the vistas of the golden fields of Sant Joan from the terrace while you lounge by the emerald green pool. Later in the day, relax in the hammock, then enjoy a barbecue at sunset as the old mellow stone walls radiate their heat. Inside, we love the traditional features, such as exposed stone, wooden beams and terracotta tiled floors. 

If you fancy exploring, the town of Sant Joan is a five-minute drive, while the long, white sandy beach of Playa de Muro, popular with families, is just over thirty minutes in the car. Stylish Palma, on the other hand, is just over a forty-minute ride away, where you'll find an array of fine-dining spots and cool art galleries, as well as its honey-coloured Gothic cathedral.

As an added bonus, there's also a balcony on which you can take a seat and gaze out over the island's treetops.

The home's large glass doors bring plenty of sunshine inside the home and this natural asset is accentuated by the bright white walls and shiny wood flooring. There's a minimalist approach to furnishing and decoration, which has been executed really rather well. A big perk we have to mention is the private gym, which gives you no excuse not to keep up with your fitness regimen on your travels.

A short walk from the house, you'll find a small choice of restaurants and shops, but you'll find more in larger towns nearby, including Sineu and Inca. When it comes to outdoor excursions, you have two options – explore the hills and hiking routes in Mallorca's interior or drive over to the beach. Of course, you could simply stay put and enjoy the peace and quiet that comes with this villa's tranquil location.

This classic beauty of a Mallorcan villa offers both, sitting on a quiet street, 150 metres from the centre of Llubí. In the heart of town, you’ll find tree-lined streets leading to squares crowned with ancient churches. Pavement cafés spill into the street and bakeries and cafés provide traditional breakfast options. It’s in the heart of the Mallorcan hills, so cyclists will be particularly pleased with the location (there are bike racks in the garage too).

Heading back to the villa, you can unwind with a float about in the swimming pool, or perhaps indulge in a long, lazy dinner in the shade at the outdoor dining table. From here, you can admire the honey-brown stonework adorned with dazzling modern art by the Moorish wooden doors. Take your pre-dinner drink on the plush terrace sofas and enjoy the last of the evening sun. 

Inside, the villa is sleek and sophisticated with touches of old-world charm. Marble columns and the grand marble staircase caught our eye the second we walked in, and hand-carved wooden bedframes feel like they have Moorish roots. There are two living rooms to choose from – one with a plush, tufted sofa and the other with a delightfully retro suite. Our favourite spot might have to be the second terrace, shaded by a sail-like parasol and lined with balustrades.

The Red Jersey

This bold and quirky home can be found in the small municipality of Sa Pobla in the northeastern part of Majorca, which puts you in pretty close proximity to the bay of Alcudia – the largest beach of all the Balearic islands. 

Perfect for a solo trip or romantic getaway, this home has a beautiful flow between rooms and with the addition of ample light, you’ll likely fall in love with how at ease you feel in the space. With a sliding door in the bedroom, and another wall-to-wall door in the living space, you can open both to let the breeze in whilst you prepare breakfast in the sleek, minimalist kitchen. Enjoy your meal, and a fresh cup of coffee, out in the courtyard and stay out there, soaking up the sun, as you decide what’s in store for the day ahead. 

Read on the couch, or get cosy in the hot tub if you’re staying in, or head out to the beach only minutes away by car. There’s also a golf course a short drive away, but if you wish to explore closer to home, you might find your new favourite spot at one of the cafes or restaurants surrounding you.

Alternatively, if you feel you can tear yourself away from your countryside cocoon, the well-known white sandy beach, Playa de Muro is only a few minutes’ drive away. Whatever you do, you’re bound to feel like new. 


Rosemary & Time

Located in the historic inland town of Sa Pobla, this stunning Mallorcan villa offers a private and stylishly curated space to sit back and relax. Drop off your bags, and make a beeline for the sumptuous poolside terrace – whether you're taking a dip in the pool, bathing on the sun loungers, or enjoying a languorous lunch in the shade (barbecue provided), it's an ideal spot.

If you fancy stretching your legs, there are walking routes around the home. While the interior style won’t be to everyone’s liking, there is ample space for a group of ten, and the kitchen is well-equipped.

You'll find this modern villa in the heart of Mallorca, just a twenty-minute drive from the sandy Playa de Muro, with the charming villa of Maria de Salud within easy walking distance. There's a sleek chef's kitchen and dining space for enjoying group breakfasts in the mornings, with sliding glass doors opening out to a private garden.

Most of your time will be spent lounging by the sparkling pool and sipping refreshing cocktails as you top up your tan. The coastline of Son Serra is only 200 metres from this home, but don't be surprised if the villa's outdoor space keeps you away from the beach – for a while at least. The swimming pool is sure to see plenty of use during Mallorca's warmer months, while it's just as easy to relax on the surrounding loungers or on the shady verandah complete with an outdoor kitchen. We're also fond of the home itself, which has the feel of a miniature palace thanks to the array of traditional design touches.

Mrs Blue Sky

Fringed by fig and almond trees, clear blue skies and rolling Mallorcan countryside, this finca is a rural delight. The design blends rustic charm with contemporary style to create a breezy, social space that's the definition of inviting – we love how the sliding glass doors and panoramic windows show off the views of the mountains.

Set on a farm estate, so you'll wake up each morning to the sound of roosters crowing and the sunlight streaming through the windows. After a cup of coffee on the private balcony, while away the afternoon in the sun-drenched garden – you can take a dip in the pool, enjoy a picnic on the grassy patch or sprawl out on the lounge chairs with a cocktail and work on your tan. Evenings call for barbecues and alfresco dinners underneath the starry sky – later on, unwind with a soak underneath the rainfall showers before climbing into the comfortable beds.

In contrast, those in search of an authentic stay surrounded by the beauty of northern Mallorca will find joy in its slow pace of life as you wander its meandering streets and stock up on essentials at its weekly Tuesday market.

Whatever your preference, early risers will be rewarded with jaw-dropping views over the tree-lined peaks bathed in the golden morning light. Plot your route over coffee on the private balcony before setting off on lung-busting mountain ascents and high-speed downhill freewheeling. Fresh from a morning in the mountains, enjoy feasting on a homemade meal in the shade of the covered dining area before a post-lunch siesta by the shared pool. 

After an action-packed day, we understand if you don't feel like cooking dinner (despite the well-equipped kitchen). Campanet offers an enticing array of eateries within walking distance of the apartment. Meanwhile, good road links mean the coastal resorts of Alcúdia and Pollença are within easy reach. Alternatively, make your way to Búger for traditional Mallorcan tapas in yet more spectacular mountain surroundings.

Yellow Jersey

It’s hard to believe that this beautiful home was so recently a dilapidated ruin. The owners, who fell in love with the centuries-old farmhouse and saw its potential, have lovingly restored it. It sits within more than four hectares of land in the Llubi countryside, at the heart of Sa Part Forana, and is one of the most breath-taking holiday homes in the area. 

The history of the home has been respected, so you’ll find heaps of charm and original features – we love the beams and exposed stone walls. In keeping with traditional Mallorcan values, you’ll also find lots of areas for you to gather together as a family, whether it’s at the dining table, around the wood-burning stove, or in the alfresco dining area. After spending your mornings swimming in the refreshingly cool swimming pool, why not fire up the barbecue for a lunchtime feast? Sit together late into the afternoon, sipping local wine and making memories – this is what holidays are all about. 

The old farmhouse courtyard surrounds the garden, and the shaded porch is the perfect place to get lost in a good book. 

Though you’ll find it hard to tear yourself away from this dreamy home, you might want to explore further afield. It takes twelve minutes to drive to nearby Inca, where you can shop for supplies or simply sit in a plaza drinking coffee and watching the world go by. The picturesque settlement of Valldemossa is forty-one minutes away by car, making it perfect for day trips.
