Fresh as a daisy, this cantaloupe-coloured villa surrounded by meadows is a restorative treat. The all-white interiors create calm from the minute you arrive, and you can really tell the host has chosen the furnishings thoughtfully. The fairy light jars and floral accents are endearing touches, but you won’t be able to resist a whirlwind romance with the private garden. 

In juxtaposition with the interior, outside is an oasis of nature and colour impossible not to fall in love with. You can spend all day out here and never get bored. We earmarked the hammock for afternoon siestas straight away and loved the fact we could enjoy our homemade lunch in the shade of the arbour. A post-lunch hot tub dip will become a daily ritual, before rinsing off in the outdoor shower and heading on foot into Villafranca de Bonany (a ten-minute walk) for an evening tapas meal.

This recently renovated 19th-century finca is the Mallorcan dream. Take in the vistas of the golden fields of Sant Joan from the terrace while you lounge by the emerald green pool. Later in the day, relax in the hammock, then enjoy a barbecue at sunset as the old mellow stone walls radiate their heat. Inside, we love the traditional features, such as exposed stone, wooden beams and terracotta tiled floors. 

If you fancy exploring, the town of Sant Joan is a five-minute drive, while the long, white sandy beach of Playa de Muro, popular with families, is just over thirty minutes in the car. Stylish Palma, on the other hand, is just over a forty-minute ride away, where you'll find an array of fine-dining spots and cool art galleries, as well as its honey-coloured Gothic cathedral.

While sunbathing, hiking, and sailing are most certainly on the cards on this sun-soaked island, some of us are simply looking for a rural, isolated escape. That’s where this home comes in. Although just a ten-minute drive from the nearest town of Felanitx, this inland oasis feels a world away from everyone.

As you approach the home, it gives off a rustic, farmhouse vibe with a traditional look. Honey-coloured stone, wooden shutters, and a terracotta roof are everything you might expect, but the reality is closer to modern luxury. The outdoor area feels more VIP than rural life – palm trees and delicate native flowers line the perimeter, creating a green wall around four-poster sun loungers, multiple terraces, an outdoor grill, shady verandahs, hammocks, and a swimming pool. We love this vast, maze-like space, where you can chase the sun to keep finding secret spots and hidden corners to sip Mallorcan wine. 

As the sun goes down, you might head inside to get cosy beneath traditional wooden beams, or beside the wood-burning stove. With vintage trinkets and an eclectic mix of art in gilded frames, this home feels more like a quirky museum – a wonderfully unique stay on a wonderfully unique island.

Imagine spending your days on a peaceful estate, away from the hustle and bustle of the everyday – and then add the Spanish sun beaming through the windows. This Mallorcan villa offers just that. Days here can be spent by the pool, eating tapas on the first-floor terrace, and finally unwinding in an ornate, dark wood bed. 

This traditional farm estate is surrounded by fields and vineyards and feels like stepping back in time without foregoing the luxuries of modern life. Inside, archways link a maze of reception rooms, from banquet-sized dining spots to cosy lounges around the fire. Furnishings feel as though they’ve been handed down for generations, and kept in the family since the 19th century. This 250-year-old rural villa is tucked away in Mallorca's lush countryside. The remote surroundings mean you'll have plenty of privacy, but it comes with one downside – the nearest town, restaurant, and beach are only reachable by car. But, seeing as there's private parking here, that shouldn’t be a problem. Besides, the outdoor terraces and private pool are perfect for relaxing in the sunshine, and with a bundle of bedrooms, space won’t be an issue. This is a charmingly old home, so expect some wear and tear inside and out. That said, if traditional character and seclusion are what you're after, this could fit the bill nicely.

Views of the Tramuntana Mountains are a backdrop to the plant-filled garden, where you can swim in the private heated pool. The terrace is equipped with a comfy seating area as well as an outdoor dining table – there’s a barbecue to cook on, and your host can also arrange for a private chef to make your meals all the more special. The surrounding area is ideal for hikers and cyclists, and you can reach beaches in thirty minutes by car.

This rural home, comprising a main house and another one-bedroom villa is perfect for those seeking a peaceful and authentic holiday in Mallorca. There’s nothing but fields and palm trees as far as the eye can see at this secluded villa. Well, you can also catch a fringe of hazy mountains in the distance too. Though you’re in the heart of the Mallorcan countryside here, it’s just a six-minute drive to the beautiful town of Manacor which is packed with shops, restaurants and bars in its old centre. For a beach day, it’s a fifteen-minute drive to Portocristo where there’s a long sweep of beach lined with bars and restaurants.

Though, with outdoor space like this, you may want to spend all your time relaxing at the villa. Loungers and double day beds line the pristine swimming pool, where reclining comes with a view out over the fields for miles. We love the patio beneath the bamboo pergola, which provides a shaded spot for outdoor dining, particularly easy with a summer kitchen equipped with a fridge, barbecue grills, sink and plenty of prep space. 

Or head indoors to cook in the jolly fire-engine-red kitchen. There’s plenty of room in here to have several chefs cooking at once and a long dining table at its centre. Bedrooms are blissfully breezy and rustic, with hardwood floors and wooden ceilings like the Mallorcan farmhouses of old. Most have double glass doors, so you can tumble from bed to patio or terrace in minutes.

From urban centres like Palma, to quaint towns like Maria de la Salut (a fourteen-minute walk from this home), the island offers many ways to keep you busy. Hiking, watersports, and browsing local markets are more options that might take your fancy – but maybe you’re just here to relax?

In this secluded villa, relaxation is the first port of call. While some might opt for the Mediterranean lifestyle of local beaches such as Can Picafort, a fifteen-minute drive away, you can experience the sea in your private saltwater pool. With plenty of sun loungers, and an outdoor shower, you can bring the beach to your own home.

Eco-friendly sensibilities such as solar panels make the most of the sunshine, which you can also do up on the raised decking, with a verandah for wining and dining. Out front, there’s yet another outdoor lounge with comfy wicker furniture, creating an old-fashioned, rural feel in contrast to beautifully modern interiors. While we admit that you might not be spending much time indoors, we love the monochrome colour scheme of the living space, alongside minimalist furnishings, and exposed stone walls.

The Inland Shore

The bustling city of Manacor is the second-largest metropolis on the island, and also the birthplace of Rafael Nadal. But while tennis fans now flock to this former agricultural hub, there are still elements of its former self. Just a seven-minute drive from the centre, this enormous finca is ready to welcome you to countryside life. 

Surrounded by lush trees and fields, this is rural living on a grand scale. Set over thousands of square feet, you can easily start feeling lost among the grounds of this manor. The coast might be twenty minutes away, but your swimming pool can help make up for this. With four-poster Bali beds around the pool, as well as a sun lounger for everyone, it’s a tough choice between catching rays, swimmings lengths, or exploring the home.

Follow the path up to the bright-red door and traditional wooden shutters of the facade. This theme of bold colour and rustic wood continues indoors. Find slanted ceilings, lined with the richest hues of wood, alongside feature walls bringing a pop of colour into every room. Visit on a Monday for one of the most popular markets in Mallorca – get there early to nab the best supplies for a barbecue back at the villa. 

If soft white sand and crystal clear waters are too tempting to resist, you’re in luck. The closest beach can be reached in less than twenty minutes, so after a day of building sandcastles you can make it back to the villa for sunset – with views like these, it’s not to be missed.

This gorgeous finca is just outside of the town of Maria de la Salut, with so much land that it feels like a private estate. There’s a forest area to the rear of the property, which is wonderful for walks, and there are peacocks, sheep and horses on the land too – there’s no need to make their acquaintance unless you want to though. 

The home is spacious, light and stylish, with quirky design details that show the owners’ passion for all things two-wheeled – check out the Rieju bike and the fully functioning bike workshop. Best of all though, there's a splendid saltwater pool surrounded by sun loungers and sunshine. 

A trip to Maria de la Salut’s Friday market is a great way to live like a local. Be sure to check out the 16th-century church on your way to the town square, where you can tuck into some local delicacies and sip wine. Can Picafort beach is just a fifteen-minute drive from the villa, so snorkelling and sandcastles are well within reach. 

Spend your evenings in town, or make the most of the villa’s outdoor space and dine under the pergola. The barbecue is ideal for easy dinners, and a great way to sample the local produce from the market.

The leafy garden offers a lovely spot for sunbathing and sipping local wine when you're not shopping at the Sunday market – although we think the walls could do with a lick of paint. Portocolom's pretty fishing village awaits 12 kilometres away, boasting S’Arenal beach and a variety of watersport activities.

Dating back to 1894, this sprawling farm estate is off the beaten track – the perfect spot if you're looking for peace and privacy. Comprising three farm buildings with en-suite bedrooms, this place gives everyone plenty of their own space, while allowing you to come together for fun.

We love the whitewashed, minimalist interiors, which combine contemporary furniture with period touches, like the period stone fountain next to the glass fireplace. Cooking together with the whole gang is like a celebration – you can whip up a storm in the huge kitchen or make use of the gas grill outside, to be enjoyed at leisure on the terrace. There’s an excellent set-up for alfresco dining, so you can live as the locals do and dine late into the evening under the stars. 

The grounds are at your sole disposal – you can stroll through the orchard or spend entire afternoons lounging by the pool. When the sun gets too much, cool down with a swim before you retreat into the shade of the palms and lemon trees. 

If you can tear yourself away, you'll find cafes, bodegas and a weekly Wednesday market in the nearby town of Villafranca de Bonany – it’s just a fifteen-minute drive. If you long for sand and surf, the beaches of south-eastern Mallorca are within easy reach too – the ever-popular Es Trenc is twenty-eight minutes away.

Bright and breezy, this modern villa sits in a prime spot on Mallorca's eastern coast. Just a short drive away lies Porto Cristo, with the rocky beaches of Cala Anguila and Cala Mendia also within easy reach. What initially caught our eye here were the sea views – best enjoyed from the terrace, balcony and two of the bedrooms – but we're equally impressed by the sleek interiors. Inside, there's plenty of space to spread out and unwind away from the island's endless sunshine. Although, if you ask us, the best spot of all to chill out is the small private pool, fitted with whirlpool jets for extra relaxation.

A paradise on paradise, it won't be a mystery why this home caught our eye. With several fantastic places to catch the sun, including by the large pool and on one of the terrace areas, this home is the perfect escape for a group of friends or an extended family.
