These two stone farmhouses provide a rural haven in the heart of the Minho hills. The home is set on a 210-acre wine estate – you'll have nothing to disturb you here but the odd worker roaming the fields and vineyards. Inside, the traditional features may not be to everyone's taste, but if you ask us, the outside area is by far the home's biggest draw. From the dining terrace to the private swimming pool and garden, you'll have ample space to bask in the Portuguese sunshine and remote setting. A car is a necessity here, but the charming towns of Ponte de Lima and Viana do Castelo are both a short drive away. 

The Vivaldi's Song

Situated near one of Portugal’s oldest towns, this home offers peace and tranquillity. There are plenty of grounds to explore, including a pond (our favourite area), mature woodland and numerous paths leading into the countryside. Alternatively, simply unwind next to the private pool or admire the enchanting garden views from the veranda of the main house and the cottage.

This place is ideal for a large group of friends or family – there’s a charming separate cottage with a twin bedroom and kitchenette too, which provides a perfect space for those in search of a tad more privacy. If you love traditional interiors, then you’re in luck – from the grandfather clock in the dining room to the farmhouse-style kitchen and antique beds, this home is full of old-world character.

Nestled in a wonderful rural landscape, there’s plenty to see and do. Ponte de Lima, one of Portugal’s most historic towns, with its ornate squares, cobbled alleyways, and vast riverside Monday market, is just 13 kilometres away. The country’s only national park, the mountainous nature reserve of Peneda Geres National Park, is just a forty-minute drive away and offers prehistoric remains and walking trails, as well as golden eagles, deer and wolves – oh my.


White Water Lillies

This charming home is a true haven for rest and relaxation. Built in 1767, the manor house has been renovated into a wellness retreat. It’s a quiet oasis situated between the mountains and the sea on the coast of Galicia, perfectly positioned for mountain hikes and white sand beaches. Enjoy sea views, explore eucalyptus forests, and discover secret lagoons – your host can arrange all manner of excursions, in addition to offering daily yoga classes. The house is beautiful, a tranquil base. 

The Atlantic Hideaway

This striking home looks like it's been taken straight from the pages of Architectural Digest. With its clean lines and sharp angles, it presents a space that will be loved by design buffs and those fond of a sleek and modern space that invites a free flow of light to radiate in abundance. 

From the mid-century furniture pieces to the south-facing glass wall and stunning home library – every last detail of the house has been carefully curated with meticulous attention to detail. 

The serene setting of the home will have you feeling relaxed from the moment you walk through the door. So curl up with a coffee and your chosen book, and sit with your feet up for a spot of relaxation. On warmer days, you'll find heaven in the nature-filled garden, which boasts a private swimming pool and plenty of outdoor seating to soak up the sun. 

Come evening, serve up a delectable home-cooked Portuguese inspired meal at the stylish dining area before winding down with a glass of wine in front of the home cinema projector. 

The nearest city is Braga; just a twenty-five minute drive away, where you'll find shops, bars and restaurants alike. And if you don't mind venturing a little further, the unmissable city of Porto is reachable in fifty-five minutes by car. 


Modern Talking

Arrive at this refined villa between river and sea to be swept away by the peace of the Costa Verde. Perfect for the family, this stay offers a little something for everyone with ease. Enjoy a Portuguese pastry with your coffee on the terrace overlooking the terrain before taking to the sandy beaches of the coast or a day of kayaking on the Minho River. On return, escape the sun and refresh in the villa’s private covered pool and spacious gardens. The town of Caminha is a walk away to enjoy aperitivos with the locals or to stock up on tomorrow’s pastries. Home dwellers will be pleased to bid the day farewell with a meal on the terrace facing sunset views over the sea.

Situated in the picturesque Lima Valley, this location offers up an alternative to the classic beach break. Instead allowing you to soak up some typically Portuguese culture, cuisine, and even some Roman ruins in the history-laden villages that dot the valley. Hike or bike through unspoiled verdant landscapes, perhaps stopping at an authentic eatery for a taste of the local cuisine (we especially love the selections of local cheeses and meats on offer, as well as the hearty regional Caldo Verde). Then, it's back to the calm and comfort of your home away from home. 

Evenings can be spent sweating away the stress in your private sauna, replicating Portuguese favourites in the traditional covered outdoor churrasco, or simply absorbing every aspect of that phenomenal panoramic vista with a glass of Vinho Verde in hand. Be it an evening dip, a quick game or two of ping pong, or cosying up in the at-home cinema with a classic – this home provides plenty of scope for relaxation and action, socialising, or some much-needed me time.

The Sunshine House in the Hills

Find total relaxation in the immersive countryside of Portugal’s verdant Minho region. With bucolic scenery of rolling hills and picturesque valleys, this renovated stone brick villa is a gorgeous place to unwind. As much as lounging by the pool and basking in nature will keep you entertained for hours, the kids might get itchy feet – luckily, they have plenty to keep them busy with a play area and an array of sports games.

Although this villa has been renovated, it’s retained its original charm. Bursting with countryside character, it has a warmth that’s perfect for families. From dinners around the banquet-style dining table to cosy evenings watching films on the sofa, you’ll love the comfort of this traditional vila. But this home is not without its luxuries – there’s even a Turkish-style steam room.

The interior is lovely, but the commanding outdoors takes the cake. Spellbinding views pull you out to the pool, where you’ll spend blissful hours reading, drinking fresh smoothies, and taking dips in the water to cool off. And after an afternoon of badminton or volleyball on the grass, you’ll love sipping a glass of Vinho Verde, the local wine, while looking out to the changing sky.

When it comes to exploring, this dreamy corner of Portugal really has everything. Explore the charming town of Paredes de Coura, a fifteen-minute drive away, and spend an afternoon on the Taboão River Beach. Or take to Corno do Bico Protected Landscape for gorgeous mountainous terrain, overlooking the town below.

Eternally Green

Secluded yet conveniently located, this stylish single-story villa in Moledo is the perfect pick for a family or small group of friends looking for privacy and comfort, without being too far from sandy beaches and charming towns. Mornings begin with laps in the private pool, before drying off on a sun lounger as you gaze out to the unspoilt landscape surrounding the home. 

Stepping inside, you'll immediately notice the modern touch that's been given to the villa – from the pop art adorning the walls to the patterned rugs and string lighting. Mastering indoor-outdoor living, the interiors benefit from a vast casement window and sliding glass doors that invite sunlight into the living area and keep the picturesque views at the forefront of the home.

Enjoy cooking for your group in the sleek marble kitchen, or alternatively, you can grill up alfresco meals on the barbecue outside. Sink into the squishy bean bag with your holiday read, soaking up the warm weather. When it's time to head out, you're fifteen minutes on foot from Caminha's sandy beaches and its old roman town, with excellent restaurants, cafes, bars, lively promenades and open-air esplanades around the Minho river's waterfront. If you're looking for more, catch the daily ferry boat out to the ruins of the fort of Ínsua in a matter of minutes, or drive to the beaches and historic town of Viana do Castelo, just 35 kilometres away.
