This fantastic duplex apartment has an entrance next to Retiro Park, in a relatively quiet area of the bustling city. El Retiro translates as “Park of the Pleasant Retreat”, and this home offers exactly that. 

We would love to spend some time every day here strolling around the beautiful Retiro Park which used to belong to the Spanish Monarchy until it was opened up to the public to enjoy in the late nineteenth century. Wander through the green space, admiring the fountains and statues of Spaniards before taking a break in one of the open-air cafes. 

Hop on public transport to explore even more sights and attractions of Madrid, including the Plaza Mayor – reachable in twenty-nine minutes. Then, after a busy day, dine at one of the restaurants in the neighbourhood which are within a four-minute walk. This well-connected neighbourhood is full of bars, shops and restaurants, too, making it a convenient base for your stay – though you might want to pack earplugs.

In the heart of Madrid, just a few metres away from Plaza Mayor and within walking distance of Puerta del Sol, this city apartment couldn't be better located. Keep in mind that some noise should be expected here, but we think it's a small price to pay for this central spot. You'll find a great selection of restaurants on your doorstep if you'd like to sample the local cuisine, but if you'd prefer to dine in, the kitchen is well-equipped for homemade tapas.

It's fair to say that we loved it. A small balcony in one of the bedrooms was the cherry on the cake and is perfect for when you want a blast of fresh air on a stuffy afternoon. If you want to head out exploring, Museo Nacional del Prado is just over ten minutes' walk away, while Palacio de Cristal in the middle of Parque de el Retiro takes around twenty-five.

Easy access to Delicias metro stop and Atocha Station makes zipping to and from the centre a breeze – just be sure to pack earplugs, since you'll be right in the hustle and bustle here.

Don Julio

Twenty minutes on foot from Plaza Mayor, Puerta del Sol, and El Retiro Park, this apartment is well-placed to explore. Many shops, restaurants, and metro stations are nearby, as well as some of Madrid's most famous markets. When you're not sightseeing, this central home is practical and comfortable. We love the exposed brick and stone walls, though it does mean it's a little dark. The kitchen is the ideal size to rustle up lighter fare, but we suspect you'd prefer dining out.

Presenting an abundance of natural light, the serene ambience here invites guests to switch off, unwind and recharge – despite the apartment's central location in Madrid. We love the soothing colour scheme of vanilla and macadamia hues in the main living space. After a day of sightseeing, shopping and sampling the local tapas delights, there's nowhere better to kick back and relax.
