Mornings are for market visits here, so head on down into the local village, just a three-minute walk away where you'll find a lady named Patricia who sells fresh fruit and vegetables every Monday and Wednesday morning in the central square, Place de la Fontaine. Better still, visit on a Saturday as this is the main market day for the villagers to stock up on fresh meat, fish, cheese, truffles, wine and flowers. It's safe to say that such a warm and friendly atmosphere is hard to come by in France, if you're not in a rural village like this one.

This beautiful village house is the perfect place to enjoy a holiday in the Luberon region of Provence. The property is located on a hillside on the edge of Gordes, one of France's classified 'Plus Beaux Villages'. The Provençal valley views from the terraced grounds are incredible.

The house has been decorated with refined style and there's an authentic ambience across its elegant lounge, dining room and perfectly equipped kitchen with doors sliding open to the al-fresco dining terrace. Modern additions include air-conditioning throughout, a Sonos music system and Smart TVs in its mezzanine lounge and two of the three bedrooms.

Sleeping up to six guests, the bedrooms are gorgeous, one with a king-size double bed, wood-beamed ceiling and romantic rolltop bath, another with a queen-size double, sofa and en suite shower room and the third en suite with twin beds and lovely views through its little windows. 

Outside, the vistas of Provence will take your breath away whether you are enjoying a glass of Luberon AOC wine on the upper terrace or peacefully reading on the outdoor sofa beneath the poolside pergola. The swimming pool is superb for warm summer days when you don't wish to venture too far. Set on a stunning country estate in the heart of Barbentane, this 18th-century house features an array of charming original features and modern amenities that guarantee a luxurious stay filled with memories. Wander around the hectare of grounds, where you'll find an abundance of fauna and flora amidst the rosemary and thyme gardens. Unwind on the surrounding lawns surrounded by Provençal plants, or better still, take a seat on the terrace shaded by the ancient trees.

The interior of the house has been sensitively restored. Classic features, including wooden beams, an open hearth and ornate tiles are maintained whilst modern finishes complement its original charm. There are plenty of spaces dedicated to relaxation inside the home - a serene living room with plush sofas or a calm master suite opening out to a Juliette balcony. We highly doubt a rainy day here, however, the pianist of the group can soundtrack evenings in front of the crackling fire if a shower does show.

Leisurely afternoons are best spent in the pool or lounging on the south-facing terrace. Come evening time, gather around the Mediterranean-style dining room for a chef-cooked dinner with the region’s best ingredients. End the evening with a few games of boules as the sunset unfolds.

It's not just easy on the eye, however – the pair of swimming pools, tennis court and children's play equipment will keep guests of all ages entertained, while the barbecue and alfresco dining table will ensure you can have open-air feasts that stretch on long after sunset.

Although you're sure to be spending countless hours in the gardens, the recently renovated living quarters are also quite mesmerising. For a start, lunches in the garden dining room filled with plants and huge windows will be unforgettable. The bright and contemporary lounge has bundles of charm, as do the super-sleek bathrooms with freestanding tubs begging for a soak.

When treated to gardens such as these, you might not see much point in exploring beyond the home's boundaries. However, the village of Noves is one kilometre away if you change your mind and the city of Avignon is only a 15-kilometre car journey, too.

You'll be able to smell the lavender as soon as you arrive and we highly recommend a daily walk just to take in the natural beauty that surrounds your holiday residence. The Provençal character in this home is extremely powerful — think rustic furnishings, period features, and plenty of outdoor hangouts with natural shade where you can enjoy a glass of local wine. Since you'll be staying only three kilometres from St-Rémy, we strongly recommend that you drive there at least once, finding clues of what inspired Van Gogh to pain some of his most powerful works here. We expect you'll stumble on a few shops along the way and bring back ingredients for a proper meal, then put them together in the well-equipped kitchen. If you have time in your busy schedule, go for a refreshing swim in the private pool and do a bit of reading before dinner. Watch the sunset together from the comfort of your garden and retreat indoors to watch a movie together.

A thirty-minute drive from the red rooftops of Avignon, this home allows you to explore the depths of the Provence countryside. In this wonderfully organic landscape, it’s hard to believe you’re just an hour from the metropolis of Marseille. So if lush, verdant scenery is more your thing, this home certainly won’t disappoint.

Jade, forest, emerald, lime, olive, mint – you can use every single word for green to describe the charming exterior of this home. From tall leafy trees, to flowerbeds, to shrubs that flow onto the stone paths, this garden is a botanical marvel set over a hectare. Of course there’s a private pool, but we prefer the shade of the terrace and the boules court. You’ll love having meals at one of many alfresco dining spots, especially when you can cook in the fresh air of the outdoor kitchen.

As the cicadas come out by night, head into the main house. Its wooden doors and shutters are green, naturally. Traditional, rustic decor harks back to this home’s days as a farmhouse, but antique furniture and gilded frames create a luxury edge. Someone will be sleeping in the annexe – but its indoor hot tub might sway opinions a bit.

Outdoor living is made easy at this contemporary villa, thanks to the open-fronted summer kitchen, overlooking the pool. Here you can prepare food without having head indoors, eat at the shaded table and even enjoy a post-lunch game of pool. While the modern decor inside the villa won’t be to everyone’s taste, we love the clean lines and eye-catching artwork. Location wise, you’re in a quiet spot in the countryside but it’s only a short stroll to the nearest village – pretty Ménerbes with its atmospheric narrow streets, medieval houses and charming cafes.

La Fée Delight

Garden Escape is an old farmhouse that's been meticulously restored by the heritage-loving host. While plenty of period features remain, the interior is mostly furnished with high-end minimalist pieces that create a delightful hybrid atmosphere. Still, we don't expect you to be spending most of your time admiring the furniture — the outdoor parts of this home are far more exciting than the insides. From the alfresco spots and loungers scattered around the garden to the huge swimming pool that's perfect for  a morning swim, Garden Escape does its name justice. When you're ready to venture a little farther, the charming town of St-Remy where Van Gogh painted the famous 'Starry Night' is only a short walk away, but since you'll be staying in the heart of Provence, every road will take you to a beautiful market town. Bring back a nice bottle of wine and enjoy watching the sunset from the garden. Retreat to the breezy living room for a movie night, and prepare for another day of relaxation.

Just two kilometres from this Provençal villa is the town depicted in a Van Gogh’s Starry Night. If that’s not enough to sell you on the scenic beauty of the green Avignon landscape surrounding the home, we’re not sure what is. Spacious enough for a family or group of couples and friends, the home is open-plan to adhere to sociable and seamless indoor-outdoor living. Start the day in the orangery with a traditional French breakfast and lounge in the shade under parasols by the pool. Find a place to hide in the secluded gardens, or get out and about for a hike in the nearby natural park for a rare bird sighting. Say au revoir to the day under the stars on the terrace.

This villa is the definition of Provençal charm. This stone-walled home sits in the heart of the village, Vers-Pont-du-Gard, where one of France’s most visited ancient monuments lies and where we imagine you’ll want to spend some time kayaking. The town is fairly quiet, but nearby Uzès offers buckets of culture should you wish to spend a day out. At the villa, you’ll find plenty of space for guests to spend time together and moments for downtime solo – there’s a fully-equipped apartment for those seeking a little extra privacy. We love the authentic details here,  though you’ll need to mind your head on the beams – that aside, it’s a lovely place to call home. 

The Ribbons of Spring

This beautiful medieval chateau, built between the fourteenth and sixteenth century, is steeped in history. Coupled with its location, a stone's throw from medieval village Oppede le Vieux, you'll be transported to another time and place. The medieval stone fireplace, rambling multi-storied outdoor terrace space (complete with pool), terracotta tiled floors and antique furniture enrich the home with authentic charm and a feeling of majesty. The top floor bedroom is particularly spectacular, with 360 degree panoramic views of the surrounding Provençal countryside and balcony access. Be sure to check out nearby Cavaillon's weekly market, famed for its phenomenal melons.

Thirty minutes by car from the vibrant city of Avignon, the Provence countryside offers a slower lifestyle. Following the Rhône south, towards the hilly region of the Parc Naturel Régional des Alpilles (perfect for hiking) you’ll hit the town of Saint-Rémy. Famously the place where Van Gogh painted The Starry Night, you can try your own hand at painting the town, from this home just a twenty-minute walk away.

Exuding everything you’d expect from a house ‘à la provençal’, old-world elegance is the first theme of this magnificent home. Built in the late 20th century, its pale yellow exterior and pastel blue shutters stand out in the verdant surrounding landscapes – as does the blue of your private pool.
