You'll find this gorgeous family-size cottage, surrounded by unspoilt countryside, at the foot of the typical Provençal village of Ventabren, is just about as sweet as it gets. Slip into your private pool for a morning swim beneath the cypress trees, before preparing a French breakfast out on the furnished terrace. We're not sure if BBC sent you here, but if you want a closer look at Mulberry House's kitchen, look no further than Rick Stein’s 'Secret France' featuring the smiley host making a delicious meal here — and were absolutely expect your to try to recreate it! This is a typical French hilltop chateau, but this doesn't mean it's ordinary. The casually welcoming atmosphere is a product of modern furniture and restored period features, the kitchen being the best example of this harmony. Still, we expect you to spend much more time around this home than in it. With the huge pool that's perfect for a morning splash and the futuristic loungers around it, a gorgeous dining spot under the pergola, and a breezy back garden, there are plenty of spots to socialise or reflect in peace. The host team that looks after this home is always available to help and organise those extra touches that will make your stay even more special. Think transport to football matches in Marseilles, babysitters, maid service, and more.

With its secluded, heated pool, this elegant apartment housed in a 16th-century building in Uzès is the perfect French retreat. This charming restored home is full of character, from the remarkable circular stone staircase and wooden ceiling beams to the old stone floors. At foot of the Mont Ventoux, in the heart of Vaucluse, nestled between centuries-old oaks and flowers, this charming home is perfect for a couple looking to get away from it all. First and foremost, with a pretty south-east facing garden, furnished terrace and private swimming pool, there's plenty of outdoor space to while away sun-soaked afternoons in the French countryside, with nothing but the sound of the chirping birds to interrupt your rest and relaxation. 

Inside the cottage, appealing artwork adorns the walls and a ruby-red colour palette runs throughout the open-plan kitchen, living and dining space to make for warm and welcoming interiors that will quickly have you feeling right at home. There's a different look in the bedroom with muted grey tones and palm-themed wallpaper to lull you into your restful slumbers with ease, ready for a day of exploring in the morning. 

Location-wise, you've struck gold. While the quaint commune of Carpentras, with its mini-markets, cosy bakeries, cafés, shops and restaurants, is right on your doorstep, you can also reach a number of interesting cities and tourist attractions within minutes. You're a thirty-two-minute drive from Avignon, forty minutes from Gordes, and only twenty-five minutes by car from the Grotte de Thouzon caves, just to name a few.

When you stay at this apartment in La Ciotat, you’ll be just steps away from the Sunday market. It’s also under a five-minute stroll to the Old Port and fifteen minutes from La Ciotat’s beaches. The home itself has been renovated by an architect and includes a large living-dining room with a sofa bed, which guests five and six will be sleeping on. One thing to note is that there's air conditioning in the living space and the main bedroom only. There is also a children's bedroom with a bunk bed off the main bedroom, so this place is ideal for families.

This lovely little villa lies on a small medieval hamlet, surrounded by Mediterranean gardens. We think it's ideal for a romantic getaway – children aren't permitted here, so you can take advantage of the peace and quiet. With your own Jacuzzi on the terrace and a private pool heated between April and October, it's well-equipped for alfresco living. We highly recommend hiring a car here to make the most of this gorgeous location, whether it's a day trip to Sommières or the bustling Montpellier.

Set on a stunning country estate in the heart of Barbentane, this 18th-century house features an array of charming original features and modern amenities that guarantee a luxurious stay filled with memories. Wander around the hectare of grounds, where you'll find an abundance of fauna and flora amidst the rosemary and thyme gardens. Unwind on the surrounding lawns surrounded by Provençal plants, or better still, take a seat on the terrace shaded by the ancient trees.

The interior of the house has been sensitively restored. Classic features, including wooden beams, an open hearth and ornate tiles are maintained whilst modern finishes complement its original charm. There are plenty of spaces dedicated to relaxation inside the home - a serene living room with plush sofas or a calm master suite opening out to a Juliette balcony. We highly doubt a rainy day here, however, the pianist of the group can soundtrack evenings in front of the crackling fire if a shower does show.

Leisurely afternoons are best spent in the pool or lounging on the south-facing terrace. Come evening time, gather around the Mediterranean-style dining room for a chef-cooked dinner with the region’s best ingredients. End the evening with a few games of boules as the sunset unfolds.

Located around fifteen minutes from the centre of Avignon, you'll be within a short drive of an array of national parks and picturesque streets lined with boulangeries and local restaurants.

A thirty-minute drive from the red rooftops of Avignon, this home allows you to explore the depths of the Provence countryside. In this wonderfully organic landscape, it’s hard to believe you’re just an hour from the metropolis of Marseille. So if lush, verdant scenery is more your thing, this home certainly won’t disappoint.

Jade, forest, emerald, lime, olive, mint – you can use every single word for green to describe the charming exterior of this home. From tall leafy trees, to flowerbeds, to shrubs that flow onto the stone paths, this garden is a botanical marvel set over a hectare. Of course there’s a private pool, but we prefer the shade of the terrace and the boules court. You’ll love having meals at one of many alfresco dining spots, especially when you can cook in the fresh air of the outdoor kitchen.

As the cicadas come out by night, head into the main house. Its wooden doors and shutters are green, naturally. Traditional, rustic decor harks back to this home’s days as a farmhouse, but antique furniture and gilded frames create a luxury edge. Someone will be sleeping in the annexe – but its indoor hot tub might sway opinions a bit.

Why not book for a private chef to come and give you French cooking lessons? You'll also find that the local area allows guests to experience French culture at its finest. Mornings are for market visits here, so head on down into the local village, just a three-minute walk away where you'll find a lady named Patricia who sells fresh fruit and vegetables every Monday and Wednesday morning in the central square, Place de la Fontaine. Better still, visit on a Saturday as this is the main market day for the villagers to stock up on fresh meat, fish, cheese, truffles, wine and flowers. It's safe to say that such a warm and friendly atmosphere is hard to come by in France, if you're not in a rural village like this one.

At full occupancy, four guests will be sleeping in single beds in the same bedroom – this room is best for kids who will love the colourful en-suite. The traditional decor here may not be to everyone’s tastes but we think most people will be won over by the views from the poolside. Location-wise, you’re surrounded by hiking trails and just 3 kilometres from the nearest town for shops, restaurants and bars.

The house has been decorated with refined style and there's an authentic ambience across its elegant lounge, dining room and perfectly equipped kitchen with doors sliding open to the al-fresco dining terrace. Modern additions include air-conditioning throughout, a Sonos music system and Smart TVs in its mezzanine lounge and two of the three bedrooms.

Sleeping up to six guests, the bedrooms are gorgeous, one with a king-size double bed, wood-beamed ceiling and romantic rolltop bath, another with a queen-size double, sofa and en suite shower room and the third en suite with twin beds and lovely views through its little windows. 

Outside, the vistas of Provence will take your breath away whether you are enjoying a glass of Luberon AOC wine on the upper terrace or peacefully reading on the outdoor sofa beneath the poolside pergola. The swimming pool is superb for warm summer days when you don't wish to venture too far. This is the kind of holiday home that dreams are made of. This magnificent villa was a hotel in days gone by, hosting the likes of Virginia Woolf and Winston Churchill. Now it’s a spectacular holiday home that sits on a cliff, looking over the French Riviera. 

Tucked away within the Calanques National Park, this home feels like an oasis. The sweeping views out to sea and the verdant surroundings make it feel as though it’s a million miles from the rest of the world. In reality, it’s just a twenty-one-minute walk from the village of Cassis – you can wake up in paradise and be eating croissants at a cafe by the port in under thirty minutes. 

It really does feel paradisiacal. A huge terrace looks out over the water and to the small beach below – walking seven minutes down a private path will see you arrive at Plage de l’Arène. The heated swimming pool shares the same gorgeous Riviera view, which makes sunset swims all the more enchanting. Wherever you choose to watch the sunsets, you’re in for a marvellous show.
