The house itself is wonderful. The contemporary living space is the heart of the home, with high ceilings and plenty of light. There’s enough room for everyone to gather together here, though there are also peaceful corners for those quieter moments – we love the reading nook. 

In addition to its wonderful charm and beauty, this home is in an excellent location. Hop on bikes to cycle into the village for a coffee and a bite to eat in a cafe-bar, or to shop locally. The Friday morning market in nearby Ribérac is one of the best in the area – head there to pick up local produce for dinner. Aubeterre-sur-Donne, one of France’s prettiest villages, is just a short drive away. There’s so much to see and do here, you’ll want to return time and again.

The location is close to the towns of Saintes, Cognac and Taillebourg where you can pick up local produce and wine to bring back and devour at the poolside cabana.

Having lived a former life as a wine and cognac press, this beautifully converted home has retained all of its charm, along with exposed beams and brickwork. Spend your days in the 17th-century conversion – when you’re not off exploring historical sites or teeing off at any of the three surrounding golf courses – by doing as much or as little as you’d like.

Read sprawled out on the sofa, only moving to top up your coffee, or take your reading outdoors, keeping your nose in a novel as you relax poolside. With this region being amongst the sunniest in France, you can expect beautiful weather all year round – perfect for a swim and some sunbathing. 

Pack snacks and wine and walk around the 12 acres of parkland in search of the perfect spot for a picnic. Enjoy the sunshine and fresh air, exploring beaches and towns nearby. The cosy lounge is great for families – with a pool table and a sofa bed for two extra guests, it acts as a games room by day and an additional bedroom come evening. There isn’t wi-fi here, so be prepared to switch off. But, as Charente-Maritime is known for sunshine, you'll have plenty of opportunities to splash in the private heated pool and dine alfresco in the sprawling garden. For adventures further afield, Saintes has cafes and weekly markets (10 kilometres away) or drive thirty minutes to visit sandy beaches and Cognac distilleries.

This original 18th-century mansion is just a fifteen-minute walk from the medieval town of Dignac, where you can browse the market or stop in for a pastis. But your private estate offers plenty of reasons for you to stay put.

You’ve got panoramic vistas of the Aquitaine countryside to satisfy your appetite for the natural world, and striking architecture for you to marvel at man made wonder.
