With an advantageous hillside position giving way to panoramic views of Palombaggia Bay, this home is all about tranquillity. You'll find a private swimming pool and alfresco dining table all positioned towards the scenery. Personally, we like the little observation nook. Two chairs create the perfect opportunity for a romantic sunset moment. Though the interior doesn't quite hold a candle to the surroundings, it's still comfortable. There's also more than enough room for a family or group of friends. As for location, beach lovers can rejoice knowing they're only 800 meters from Palombaggia Beach.

Stretch your legs with a stroll over to the Punto Panoramico, thirteen minutes away, for knockout views of the Mediterranean or jump in the car and take the five-minute drive to the small fishing village of Stintino – we couldn’t get enough of the pastel-hued buildings and charming cobbled streets.

Blooming bougainvillea frames the stunning views this Sardinian home has to offer. It’s a romantic home set in the hills above Costa Smeralda, with plenty of room for a large group. The outside space is dreamy, with lush gardens and a huge veranda – though the swimming pool is shared with the other guests on the development. You’ll need to pay for your bed and bath linens – or bring your own – and we think hiring a car is a good idea if you want to get out to see more of north east Sardinia – and with these sea views, you'll be dying to hit the beach.

The place is unfussy but well-equipped and the separate bedroom and bathroom are ideal for those who’d like their own space. From the moment you step inside this home, you’ll be drawn out onto the terrace. Secluded and serene, it has the most stunning views across the bay of Ajaccio – a sight we’re sure you’ll never tire of. 

Wander back inside, and this home gives a very distinct nod to its surroundings. Pops of teal and blue are peppered throughout this apartment, mirroring the tones of the ocean outside, and with coastal decor adorning the walls and shelves. It’s compact but comfortable with that little touch of class, making it the ideal base for exploring the local area. 

Locally, you may want to visit the old town of Ajaccio or perhaps you long to feel the sand between your toes – if so, you’re in luck, as Porticcio beach is just a short four-minute drive away. After a day of adventure, return home, pour yourself a glass of wine, and head onto your terrace where you can snuggle up on the sofa. As the day draws to an end, watch as the sun sets over the Iles Sanguinaires (The Blood Islands) – named for their dark red colour. As the sky turns from its orange glow to black, look up at the blanket of stars above. Inside provides a welcome respite from the heat of the midday sun, with cool terracotta floors, traditional furniture and local handicrafts. You’re 2km away from a string of white sand beaches, as well as the Marina di Portisco with its selection of waterfront restaurants. The characterful borgo of San Pantaleo is just inland and is ideal for picking up fresh produce for an Italian style feast come the evening. You’ll want to be back home before the sun goes down though, for an aperitif with a view.

Although bed linen and towels are an additional cost, each bedroom is comfortable and cosy – but, as there's only space for eight around the table, we think ten guests will be a squeeze. Location-wise, Costa Paradiso is yours to discover. Li Cossi beach is less than a five-minute drive, with restaurants, bars and seasonal shops also within striking distance.

The view is everything here. This modern villa stands in Portobello di Gallura, just 800 metres from Baia dell’Amore beach, and boasts glorious views of the coast. From here you can explore the area's hidden coves and peaceful beaches on foot, and spend your evenings drinking in the spectacular sea sunsets. You’ll have a Jacuzzi to unwind in but no pool, so this home will really only appeal to those who enjoy sea swimming and the feel of sand underfoot. The twin rooms are ideal for children. Bedding and towels aren’t included in the price but can be provided for an additional fee.

Inside, the villa is elegant and comfortable. We love the outdoor kitchen, and the porch for drinking in the views after a dip in the private pool.

With a private garden overlooking the Tyrrhenian Sea, this charming bungalow makes for a restful stay. The interiors are on the minimal side of things, but the space feels perfectly practical and inviting. Outside, you’ll find a dining table and barbecue to share alfresco dinners, and as night falls, you can enjoy the sunset with a glass of locally-produced Vermentino. Although there isn’t a swimming pool here, the sands of Quarta Spiaggia are just a few steps away, so after soaking up the sun, you can cool off in the crystal-clear waters.

This breezy beachside villa is where your dream family holiday begins. From the airy open-plan living area, open the sliding doors, cross your garden and step right onto the white sandy beach. The water shimmers in so many shades that you could spend eternity admiring them – when you've finished swimming or playing on the sand, the garden comes with a cold-water shower to wash off that sticky sand. The magic of this place is that you feel as if you’re always outdoors in touch with the sea, the breeze and the elements. Fire up the barbecue and savour all your meals directly on the veranda. At night, climb up to your rooftop deck from where you can count the stars and admire the view of Tavolara Island while unwinding in the hot tub. Pittolungo is so compact that you can stroll to the nearest store or restaurant, yet if you need more variety of shopping and dining, Olbia is a mere 15-minute drive away.

While Luculumbu Beach is within walking distance, there’s not much else to do in the surrounding area, so a car is a must here. The home itself is well-appointed and the views of the Mediterranean Sea from the swimming pool speak for themselves. If you're staying in a home situated on the Sardinian coastline, it would be a crying shame if the address didn't have an outdoor spot from which to admire the majesty of the local landscape. Thankfully, this apartment in the north of the island really delivers on the front.

Not only is there a large sun terrace with 180-degree views of the Tyrrhenian Sea and Tavolara island, but there are two further verandahs with alfresco tables and a well-kept garden. There are pleasant views out through the home's windows too, which, thanks to the elevated position, also bring in lots of natural light. This asset works particularly well with the bright and contemporary design throughout, from the white walls and glossy kitchen surfaces to the rather striking head sculpture in the living space.

When it comes to seeing a little more of the local area, there's a rock beach only eighty metres from the home and the sandy Spiaggia Mare Rocce is two hundred metres' walk. There's a decent choice of restaurants in the surrounding town of Pittulongu, while you can find a wider choice, plus some archaeological ruins, in the city of Olbia, just over fifteen minutes' drive away.

Sun-seekers will love this Sardinian villa. It can be found in the village of Portobello di Gallura, just a short distance from the sandy shores of Cala Sassari. Its outside space is comprised of two large terraces with plenty of room for everyone to stretch out in the sun – and there are glorious sea views to admire. There's also a private pool. Inside the villa is crisp and modern, though you’ll have to pay for bed and bath linen (or bring your own). When you’re not at the beach, you can soak up the rays on the hiking and cycling trails of the Gallura area – it’s best to hire a car if you want to explore.

Incredible Mediterranean views await at this villa located in the village of Cugnana, just 13 kilometres from the city of Olbia. With a panoramic patio complete with outdoor seating and a sparkling infinity pool, you’ll find yourself whiling away sunny days taking dips in its waters and soaking up the far-reaching vistas in complete relaxation. The pair of living areas across the home’s two floors means it’s perfect for groups looking for a bit of autonomy, and while bed linens and towels aren’t included here, we’re willing to overlook this for its fabulous locale and picture-perfect views. Elsewhere away from home, the crystal-blue waters of Golfo Aranci are 15 kilometres away and the beach of Liscia Ruja – one of the jewels of the Costa Smeralda – is 14 kilometres.

If you want to get some diving done while you’re in Sardinia, this could be the perfect base for you. This villa is in Santa Teresa di Gallura, just 450 metres from Baia Santa Reparata, a beach known for its colourful seabeds. You can also easily hop on a boat trip to explore La Maddalena Archipelago. When you’re on terra firma, you’ll enjoy the outside space here – the private pool and shaded terrace are where we’d be spending most of our time. Some of the decor is a little dated, but there’s also plenty of charm here – you’ll need to pay for bedding and towels though.

Featuring picturesque scenery – best viewed from the private terrace, this apartment offers a boutique hotel-like experience, with the added privacy of having your own cooking and dining facilities. While the swimming pool is shared with other guests staying in neighbouring apartments, the complex is quiet and residential and there are thirty apartments in total on-site. Separated into two buildings, three of the double-bedroom suites are located in the annexe. Meanwhile, the other two bedrooms are found alongside the living area and dining area in the main building.
