It's not just that the home is beautiful (even though the wood panelling is très chic), but the atmosphere created here is one of peace and relaxation. During winter, when the outdoors are covered in a thick layer of snow, you can just smell the air and feel more at ease when you wake up to yet another gorgeous morning with a cup of hot coffee on the balcony. After you do whatever your heart desires outdoors, be it skiing, hiking, or simply walking around and exploring the beauty of the area, return and dip into the hot bath to warm up. Then, get everyone together for a meal in the open-plan living area and organise a cinema night by the wood-burning stove.

Speaking of which – there’s a ski bus almost on your doorstep, and the piste is just 1 kilometre away.

Known for its beginner-friendly slopes and stunning Swiss Alps scenery, it's no surprise that Villars-sur-Ollon is a popular destination for families. Whether you're after excellent hiking in the summer, fantastic skiing in the winter or just a relaxing getaway in the mountains, there's something for everyone here, especially with the gondola a twelve-minute walk away, a free ski shuttle service and the restaurants and shops in town only six minutes by car.

This cosy chalet shows off the idyllic views in every direction and makes an ideal base for anyone exploring the region. You'll feel right at home in this rustic hideaway, with the open-hearth fireplace, squishy sofas and wooden panelling creating a warm and inviting atmosphere. It's the perfect place to kick off your snow boots and unwind with a cup of hot cocoa and a good book.

Our favourite spot to soak up the sunshine (and the scenery) is the deck off the main bedroom. Enjoy a cup of coffee there in the morning before rustling up breakfast in the kitchen, then grab your skis and snowboards and hit the slopes. When your toes feel frosty and your muscles are sore, head back home to a roaring fire and some delicious cheese fondue around the oak dining table before snuggling up for a family movie night in the lounge.

Nestled just outside the ski resort of Chinaillon, this cosy chalet is a dream retreat for families. The fourth bedroom is on the mezzanine level, so while it lacks a little privacy, there’s plenty of space in this home to spread out and enjoy some quiet time. That said, everyone will be drawn to the outdoor space, whatever the season. With mountain views and alfresco dining, it’s a peaceful spot – but the stand-out is the Scandinavian hot tub, just the place to warm up after a day on the slopes. Speaking of which, when you’re ready to hit the pistes, the ski bus stop is just 100 metres away, and it’s only one stop to Chinaillon.

With this location you'll get the best of all worlds – peaceful mountain views yet still just minutes' walk from vibrant restaurants and the ski lifts. What we love about Le Chardon is how it retains that fresh-out-of-the-box feel with its sleek finishes and state-of-the-art appliances. With five bedrooms and five bathrooms, this home is perfectly equipped to accommodate a larger group without it feeling cramped, although we recommend maximising your time exploring the beautiful surroundings. Whether it's hiking in summer or gliding on the snow in winter, this part of the country is all about experiencing the wonderful outdoors.

From the snow-dusted peaks to the lush green valleys, the views rival any postcard – and they're best enjoyed from the panoramic terrace and private hot tub. Located only an hour's drive from Geneva Airport, this village is famous for the high-tech equipment that powers the slopes, and scenic views of the snowy peaks which you'll be able to admire from the comfort of your chalet. Snow Front is a home for those who want more than just a comfortable place to crash for the night. To say it's inspiring doesn't truly do it justice, as this chalet is filled with gorgeous nooks where you can hide away from the world and watch the snowy landscape, or reconnect with your loved ones while warming up by the wood-burning stove. The variety of things to do in the village might keep you outdoors during the day, but warming up in the hot tub after a long day of skiing is an exquisite feeling, comparable only to the morning views from the balcony. The designated cook among you will have tons of fun in the well-equipped kitchen, and when the meal is ready, the whole tribe can dine together in the rustic dining area with more lovely views. 

Snow Front

You might have to pinch yourself when first looking out at the views from this Swiss chalet. Whether it's through the double-height windows or out from the private balcony, the Swiss mountains rise in all their glory. You can look forward to cheese-filled dinners, using the home's raclette grill and fondue set, and curling up by the towering feature fireplace – the vistas of the peaks will backdrop everything you do. Bedrooms are simple and on the bottom floor, ensuring a good night's sleep before taking the ski bus (600m from the home) or setting off on a hike. There's only one deadline to adventures, and that's being back at the balcony for sunset over the snow-capped peaks.

Nestled five kilometres from La Giettaz, this home is nestled in its own secluded piece of paradise. The drive to reach the chalet may not be the easiest, and snow tyres and chains, as well as a 4x4 vehicle, are a must, but it’s worth the effort. Surrounded by nature, this is somewhere you can truly switch off – and, step inside, and you’re met with a contemporary yet homely space. When you’re ready to hit the slopes, experienced skiers can ski straight from the chalet via a blue slope – otherwise, it’s a mere 1.5 kilometres to the lifts at Le Plan. 

Mountain Modern

Nestled into the mountainside, this isn't your average French chalet. This incredible home was built in 2020 and has a contemporary industrial vibe with a mix of concrete, wood, marble and stainless steel finishes. Select a book from the Charlotte Perriand-inspired library and curl up on one of the comfy sofas or admire the view from the panoramic windows. After a day of skiing or hiking, relax with a brandy in front of the stylish fireplace. Later on, cook a feast of French delicacies in the sleek kitchen, or retire to the cosy TV room and watch your favourite movie. Surrounded by rolling meadows, the ski resort of Morzine is a lively destination with a vibrant après scene. Here you can do all the usual winter activities such as snowmobiling, tobogganing and skiing, as well as ice-diving at nearby Lac de Montriond. This Alpine town is a year-round option, though, with many shops, bars and walking trails nearby.

A mere seven-minute stroll from the centre of La Clusaz, you can leave the car at home to enjoy some aprés-ski aperitifs. Ready to hit the slopes? The ski bus stops just 100 metres away, and it’s only a few steps further to the Nant piste – you’ll be whizzing down the mountain in no time.
