The amenities here are incredible – there are two terraces, a Jacuzzi, a sauna (both with wonderful views), and an indoor pool. Oh, and the kids will love the bedroom on the attic floor – this dormitory-style room has eight built-in bunks and a TV corner. We wouldn’t blame you if you didn’t want to leave this place, but if you're looking to ski, this home is located in a quiet village, just a short drive from the slopes.

You'll find this chalet just outside of Thônes. If you're keen to hit the slopes, La Clusaz is only a short drive away. Prefer hiking? The surrounding mountains offer treks for all levels and the house overlooks a flat meadow. When you're not out and about, you'll make a beeline for the hot tub. There's also a patio perfect for alfresco dining, an indoor sauna ideal for winding down after skiing, and a wood-burning stove for when you fancy a chilled night at home. With a mezzanine bedroom ideal for older children, we think this dwelling makes a great base for eight adults and one child.

Rolling Mountains

Nestled five kilometres from La Giettaz, this home is nestled in its own secluded piece of paradise. The drive to reach the chalet may not be the easiest, and snow tyres and chains, as well as a 4x4 vehicle, are a must, but it’s worth the effort. Surrounded by nature, this is somewhere you can truly switch off – and, step inside, and you’re met with a contemporary yet homely space. When you’re ready to hit the slopes, experienced skiers can ski straight from the chalet via a blue slope – otherwise, it’s a mere 1.5 kilometres to the lifts at Le Plan.

Set on an old farm between the village of Manigod and the ski resort of La Croix Fry, this home is about as peaceful as it gets. A car is necessary here, as it’s a kilometre to the nearest ski bus stop, but the secluded location makes it worth it. The interiors, created by local craftsmen, have a beautiful quality that only adds to this home’s charm – throw in the hot tub, steam room, and views of the Manigod Valley, and you’re onto a real winner.

Virtually every window of this chalet in the French Alps is like the frame of a picture postcard. Crafted by a local carpenter and spread over three floors, this home has four ensuite bedrooms and a hammam. When it's cold outside, the living room benefits from a wood-burning stove. For warmer days there are sunny balconies with stunning views and a west-facing terrace with a Jacuzzi. You'll need a car here, as it's a 1-kilometre walk to the ski bus. It’s also 4 kilometres to La Croix Fry and 3 kilometres to the shops and restaurants of Manigod. But that’s a small price to pay for such a beautiful location.

When it comes to skiing, La Croix Fry is a mere three kilometres away, and with nursery slopes perfect for youngsters and runs for more experienced skiers, it’s just the ticket for families of all ages.
