Sitting just across the street from the golden sands of Grande Plage du Sillon, this fourth-floor apartment is treated to a front-row seat on Saint-Malo's coastline and the architect has rather thoughtfully covered the walls of the apartment with large windows so you gaze out at the seaside. Even better, there's a balcony to stand on for a burst of sea air and sunshine on your skin.

Given that your eyes are naturally drawn to what lies outside, it makes sense that the design doesn't try to compete. However, there's a sleek subtlety to the stark white walls, deliciously sleek kitchen and geometric furnishings – the square dining table next to the double-aspect windows is a particularly picturesque spot for dinner.

When it comes to seeing a little more of Saint-Malo, there's way more than the neighbouring beach to keep you occupied. Fort National can be visited if you time the tides right, while the winding alleys and streets of the historic Intra-Muros area are less than ten minutes away on foot as well.



Can I Take Your Picture?

In an old house right on the seafront, this little home is the perfect place to relax and recharge your batteries in Brittany. Just half an hour from Saint-Malo, the loft apartment has character features like sloping ceilings, heavy oak beams and partially exposed stone walls, but at the same time it's been modernised with a bright white paint job, herringbone wood floors and skylights. Surprisingly open and bright, we particularly love the living space with its sea view window. The kitchen is perfectly well-equipped for cooking light meals at home but it's only a five-minute walk to the town centre with its bakeries, restaurants and bars (it's known for its oysters, by the way). Keen walkers will be able to explore the local hiking trails and there are all sorts of water sports on offer nearby too.

Seaforth

There's something special about waking up to a view each morning, and at this bright and cheerful apartment in Saint-Malo you'll have just that. Whether you're waking up from your restful slumbers in the comfortable bedrooms and cradling a cup of coffee on the balcony, enjoying breakfast in the light-filled dining area, or catching up with friends in the stylish living space, views of Solidor beach can be admired from every angle. 

Throw open the windows, kick back on the velvet sofa and relax with the sea breeze washing over you, as you map out the day ahead. We love the palm-themed artwork and rattan details that add to the cool and calm feel around the home. 

When it's time to head out, grab your seaside essentials and take the short walk to the sandy beach right on your doorstep for a day of sunbathing and swimming. And if you're in town for sightseeing, you can reach the historic centre of Intra-Muros in fifteen minutes on foot along the coast. There's also a fish market on the square of St Servan nearby and a small oyster market every Sunday on the Place Bouvet square. 

Sea Through You

Once a home for horses, this former stable is perfectly placed for a visit to Rennes. Tucked nicely near Thabor Gardens, it allows you to be close to the city yet far enough away from the hustle and bustle that you can enjoy some much-needed quiet time whenever you retreat back home. 
 
With nods to its history through exposed beams and brickwork, this recently renovated home has been beautifully modernised, while retaining its charm. The sleek, modern kitchen is a delight to cook in, should you decide an evening at home is preferred over dining out. Climb the spiral staircase and you’ll find two comfortable bedrooms to choose from, both of which guarantee a blissful night’s sleep. A fairly neutral palette is broken up throughout the home with pops of colour, giving the whole space a calming, cosy vibe.

Our favourite part of this home is the terrace. Quite the sun trap during the day, it’s a peaceful place to retreat to as evening sets in. Grab yourself a bottle of fine French wine and settle down on the sofas with your loved ones. As night falls and a blanket of stars breaks out above, listen to the quiet chatter of your loved ones and feel yourself relax. This is where memories are made. 

Once Upon a Stable

This home in Saint-Malo is full of classic charm, with large picture windows, rustic floorboards and exposed beams. Mixed in delicately alongside all of these stunning features, you’ll find some unintrusive modern touches. The whole effect is one that calms you and washes a sense of tranquility over your skin from the moment you step foot inside. 

A lovely little sun room and terrace provides the perfect spot for some quiet time. Grab a coffee and a book and enjoy a little peace as the sun warms you. When it’s time to catch up with your loved ones, the open-plan living, kitchen and dining area gives plenty of space for everyone to gather over good food, fine wine, and enjoy great conversation. 

Head outdoors into the garden and it’s quite the sun trap. Settle down on the comfortable deckchairs and enjoy the scent of the sea in the air. When it tempts you enough, it’s just a short 300-metre stroll to the nearest beach. For those keen to get out on the water, you’ll also find a sailing school just twenty minutes away by foot. With much to do in the area, this home provides an elegant backdrop to what promises to be a wonderful stay.


Sunshine & Sails

We fell hard for this characterful home not far from the St Lunaire coastline and we're pretty sure other guests will be just as smitten. A lot of that is down to the design. Much of it is contemporary in scope, from the minimalist kitchen and stark white walls to the bare wooden floors and the chic selection of furnishings. However, there are a few features that hark back to the past, like the large cabinets filled with curios and the vintage wall signs.

One of our favourite parts of the home, however, is just how bright it feels – that's what'll happen if you fill the walls with large windows, skylights and floor-to-ceiling glass doors. If you want to feel the sun directly on your skin, you only have to step outside onto one of the pair of terraces, which have both loungers and an alfresco dining table for making the most of sunny weather.

If you're lucky with the forecast, you'll probably want to make the most of the fact that St Lunaire's main beach is less than a kilometre away and there are a few more along this stretch of Breton coastline to explore. The centre of town is just as close when you want restaurants and shops, but there's a greater variety in the Dinard, only a short drive away.

Past, Present, Future

Step into this beautiful apartment and be dazzled by the amount of natural light pouring through its French windows. Located in the heart of Rennes’ historic centre, you’ll have the city at your feet, not to mention an elegant base from which to experience it all. 

Parquet floors, tall ceilings and French windows instantly create a striking impression in the living area. We love the natural textures here, from the wicker Acapulco chairs to the long wooden dining table, as well as the windows’ Juliet balconies that invite you to perch by them with your morning coffee or evening glass of wine. 

The main bedroom is similarly bright with its tall windows and generously-sized bed, while its cosy alcove offers a desk space that’s ideal for those looking to catch up on work during their stay. 

Outside of your home, you’ve got plenty to see and do within easy walking distance, including the Cathedral Saint-Pierre de Rennes, the Parlement de Bretagne and the Musée des Beaux-Arts. 


Serendipity of Light

A stone's throw from the sandy beaches of Cancale, in the picture-pretty bay of Port Mer, this charming home offers the very best of coastal living. Boasting a gorgeous garden with plenty of cosy spots to sit down and breathe in the salty sea air, start your days with coffee on the lawn while watching the boats sail by. 

If you want to see the ocean up close, the beach is less than 1km away – take a walk down to the golden sands to discover what the famous Emerald Coast has to offer. When you're feeling peckish, Cancale oysters are a must-try. Head to one of the local restaurants or buy some from the Mont Saint-Michel oyster market and take them home to prepare yourself. We highly recommend an alfresco dinner on the terrace, washed down with a glass of French wine. When you're finished, head up to the terrace to watch the sunset – the waterfront views have to be seen to be believed. 

When darkness falls, head inside to cuddle up on the sumptuous sofa to watch a movie. If you're travelling with little ones, the mezzanine level dens are the perfect place for a bedtime story to make sure they settle in for a good night's sleep. 

Emerald Coast of Cancale

This pretty half-timbered house from the 17th century is located right in the heart of the fairytale-esque Breton town of Dinan and comfortably accommodates up to four guests in its quirky, lovingly-decorated interior that boast its own unique character. 

With a charming blend of original wood features, painted frescos, eye-catching mosaic tiles, and picture frame windows that let in plenty of light, the home feels like it has been lifted from the pages of a Brothers Grimm fairytale. Open up the windows on the ground floor and be greeted by the gentle hum of everyday French village life beyond its pane, allowing the sunlight to stream in whilst you linger over breakfast or a book. 

Step over the threshold and you'll find yourself in the midst of things here in Dinan, with everything from boulangeries to historical attractions right on your doorstep, whilst the coast and its iconic towns such as Saint-Malo are just a short drive away.

The Fairytale Townhouse

Sitting close to the point at which La Rance meets La Manche, this home puts guests in an excellent location for exploring the famed beach resort of Dinard.

However, it's fair to say that there's a lot more riding in this address's favour that the spot it occupies on the map. For a start, it's actually made up of two properties that have been joined up and consequently, there's a huge amount of space behind the front door – something only emphasised by the open layout and wealth of natural light from the large windows. Added to that, the design is sleek and contemporary throughout, especially the minimalist kitchen and bathrooms.

There are wonderful views of the coastline to be had out through the windows and you can enjoy these with a sea breeze on your face as you take up residence on the large terrace, which wraps around two sides of the home. As well as that, guests also get the run of a small garden where it's easy to find a shady spot.

When you want to see a little more of the town that has drawn in illustrious visitors for quite some time, there's a coastal path all of 20m from the path that will take you around the coastline and to the golden sands of Plage de l'Écluse. There are restaurants and shops aplenty in the centre of Dinard, about 1km away, while you also have the option of catching a ten-minute taxi-boat to Saint-Malo if you wish.

Maison Grâce

This contemporary apartment offers an idyllic base for those seeking a retreat moments from the Emerald Coast and within a short drive of Saint-Malo’s heart. With a refined and elegant style, this coastal gem is the perfect space to return to after a day exploring the iconic sculpted rocks nearby and cliffside hiking trails. 

Step into the elegant space, drop your bags and unwind with a crisp glass of Muscadet on the plump sofa before heading to the soft sands of Plage du Val for a sunset stroll. Head into town for a seafood affair caught directly off the coast, then return home for a restful night’s sleep in your stylish bedroom. 

Location-wise, you're a short walk from the shoreline, where you can surf the swell and soak up the sun. If you’re seeking a cultural excursion, head into the city to explore the Gothic-style Saint-Malo Cathedral and the 18th-century privateer’s museum, La Demeure de Corsaire.
