Summer or winter, this chalet makes a great base for exploring the French Alps. Set in the charming village of Manigod, you'll be treated to stunning views across the Aravis mountains – best enjoyed with a glass of bubbly or a mug of hot chocolate on the balcony. It's got everything you need for a relaxed getaway, from a revolving fireplace to boot warmers and ski storage in the garage. Though it can sleep ten with the bunk beds in use, we think it's best for eight adults and two children. Location-wise, you're just ten minutes from the Croix Fry ski station, so you can hit the slopes with ease.

The Turning Point

Boasting breath-taking views of the snow-capped Alps, this cosy, chalet-style apartment is what mountain escapes are all about. You’re within easy reach of the slopes here, but with so many on-site amenities at your fingertips, we wouldn’t blame you if you wanted to stay in. Go for a dip in the heated pool, keep cosy with a session in the communal sauna, or simply sit back and relax in the downstairs lounge. Then, when it’s time to eat, head back upstairs to your rustic home from home, where you’ll find everything you need to whip up a hearty, evening meal. Delish. 

If you do fancy getting out and about, you’ll be pleased to hear that you’re perfectly placed for exploring all that Alpe d’Huez has to offer. Grab your equipment from the ski room and set off for the slopes or settle in at one of the local bars and treat yourself to glass or two of warming mulled wine. And, if you fancy soaking up more of the gorgeous scenery, there’s a Ferris wheel nearby offering spectacular views of the surrounding mountains. What more could you ask for? 

Conifer Tree Breeze

Zen-inspiring white spaces punctuated by eclectic accents and unconventional touches coupled with a first-rate location set this ground floor apartment apart from other similar holiday apartments. Located in the midst of the bohemian neighbourhood of Croix Rousse, a part of Lyon characterised by its tree-lined squares and historic houses –not to mention the rich array of shops, cafés, and restaurants and the daily market to be found along its wide main street – the apartment provides a home away from home that is made for experiencing the beauty of Lyon like a local. 

The apartment’s tranquil interior overlooks the lively streets below, allowing you to feel at once part of the bustling city life that has seen Lyon rise in notoriety as one of the most cosmopolitan cities in France, and cocooned in a comfortable haven of calm. Following a restful night’s sleep in the understated neutral-toned bedroom, emerge into the bright and welcoming kitchen area for a bit of breakfast and your favourite morning pick-me-up at the breakfast bar. 

Then, the choice is yours as to whether you’d prefer a leisurely morning catching up on news, reading, or conversation with your loved-ones in the apartment, or would rather head out into the day to uncover the myriad delights that this city has tucked around almost every corner. 

Wander the terracotta-toned backstreets or saunter down the elegant boulevards, stopping in at artisanal boulangeries or flexing your cultural muscle in one of the city’s many museums. Among our favourites has got to be the Musée Miniature et Cinéma – a museum exploring the art of miniature figurines and special effects used in film technology. Lyon is also known for the collection of street murals which dot the city, so be sure to keep your eyes peeled on your explorations and see how many of these impressive artworks you can spot. 

Dusk calls for an aperitif accompanied by a few slices traditional Lyonnaise sausage and a creamy wodge of typical Saint-Marcellin cheese slathered on fresh French bread as you lounge around the living room deciding on how to spend the evening.

The Lyon Den

Isn't this home just pretty as a picture? We certainly think so. Located in one of Lyon's more prestigious neighbourhoods just a few minutes' walk from Place Bellecour and the peninsula, this elegant apartment makes for the perfect pied-à-terre in this electric city. With a grand yet welcoming living space comprising of a kitchen and sociable seating area all flooded with light thanks to the huge French windows, the home feels intimate and warm, whilst exuding a typical kind of French grandeur that – for us – is très magnifique.

Here you'll find yourself close to the Cours de la Liberté with its many restaurants and shops, and you'll have only to cross the Wilson bridge to be on the peninsula itself. Spend days perusing local shops, markets, museums, and galleries, before returning to the cosy comfort and effortless style of your home away from home. Freshen up in the sleek bathroom before venturing out again to make the most of Lyon's vibrant foodie scene, or prepare something homemade in that well-equipped kitchen over a glass or two of wine.

A Portion of Lyonnaise

This traditional farmhouse has been transformed into an idyllic rural retreat. Surrounded by olive and cypress trees, this is the perfect setting to slow down and unwind. There’s a private saltwater pool for refreshing swims and a large terrace with a barbecue for alfresco dining. Inside, the rooms are well suited to families and you’ll find two of the bedrooms are located in an independent annexe – perfect for those seeking a little extra privacy. We recommend hiring a car to get around here, but it’s just a short drive to the historic heart of Avignon. 



Olive & Moon

With its secluded, heated pool, this elegant apartment housed in a 16th-century building in Uzès is the perfect French retreat. This charming restored home is full of character, from the remarkable circular stone staircase and wooden ceiling beams to the old stone floors. We love the gracious living room with its views over the fig and bamboo trees, the pool and the town's rooftops. There's a wood-burning stove, too, for cosy nights when the weather turns chilly and a desk for catching up on work as well. 

This place is ideal for a couple or family with two children. The icing on the cake here is the incredible hospitality from your lovely hosts. They can arrange all sorts of activities for you to do, including walking tours and cookery classes. 

When you're ready to explore the area, take a stroll around the town and admire the wonderful architecture or head to its renowned weekly market, then take a seat at one of its traditional restaurants. Further afield, visit the UNESCO World Heritage Site of Pont du Gard, under a twenty-minute drive away, or discover historic Nîmes, around thirty minutes in the car.


Secret Baignade

Nestled in the heart of Alpe d’Huez, this cosy mountain home is the perfect setting for a winter getaway to central France. Whether you’re here to ski or to simply soak up the gorgeous scenery, you can’t do much better than this tastefully decorated, alpine apartment, which comes equipped with a whole host of communal amenities that will make your stay here one to remember. 

Start your morning with a cup of coffee on the terrace, then set off for a day of hiking or skiing on the snowy slopes of the Central French Western Alps. We wouldn’t blame you if you wanted to spend all day out here, breathing in the fresh air or warming up with glass of mulled wine at one of the town’s charming bars, but if you’ve had your fill of being out and about, there’s plenty to keep you occupied back at home. Treat yourself to a soothing session in the on-site sauna, go for a dip in the indoor pool, or sit back and relax in the communal lounge before heading upstairs for a home-cooked meal around the rustic dining table. Raclette, anyone?

Walnut Retreat

With an unbeatable location right in the heart of the Alpe d’Huez resort, this chalet apartment is hard to beat. And when you take the incredible views and amenities into account, you’re really onto a winner.

The cooling tones of this apartment exude serenity, with the warmth of the fireplace and the plush sofa providing the perfect spot for relaxing after a day on the slopes. Patio doors invite in a bright natural light while giving you a peek of the mountain view, but of course, that’s even better from your balcony. Mornings out there are particularly beautiful, fresh cup of coffee in hand, soaking in the early mist hanging on the mountains. It's not just the apartment itself that has your comfort in mind – you can unwind in the sauna, succumb to relaxation in the hammam, take a lap in the heated swimming pool, or play foosball while the little ones busy themselves in the ball pit. 

The location of this home really is fantastic. You’re a mere two metres away from hopping on a ski lift, where the impressive chain of mountains are sure to get your adrenaline soaring. The resort has a good mix of slopes depending on your experience, and your host can always arrange ski lessons to boost your confidence and get you shredding in no time. Your lovely host can also arrange a professional guide to take your group out to untouched terrain, away from the crowds. 

All of that skiing is bound to work up an appetite, so it’s a good thing the apartment is steps away from the restaurants and bars of Alpe d’Huez. If you’d like to explore more of the French Alps, a great local team of travel assistants can make sure you make the most out of your stay.  

Between the Slopes

You’re also within reach of scenic Vieux Lyon, as well as the banks of the Saône and the Rhône for long, peaceful ambles.

This beautiful chalet – spread over three floors – is perfect for families and groups of friends looking for a luxurious holiday home in the French Alps (there’s even a mezzanine just for kids). The chalet is traditional in style but boasts all the comforts of modern living, including a Jacuzzi and a sauna – what could be better after a day on the slopes? Return to the chalet – via the ski bus that departs just 200 metres away – to curl up beside the floating fireplace and watch the sun set behind the mountains.
