Lovingly renovated in 2020, this home in the heart of the Val d’Arly has both charm and location on its side. You don’t have to look far to find proof of the enviable position – simply wander out onto the balcony and you’ll spot the rolling green mountain there as confirmation. But it isn’t just about the views either, not when the ski slopes of Les Evettes are a mere 1.8 miles away and can be reached via the free shuttles that run in season. Get on the snow and test your mettle on the different ski runs, before coming back for a warming Après-ski drink on the balcony. 

The mix of natural wood and a light colour palette makes this home feel incredibly cosy and we can imagine ourselves curling up on the couch in thick socks and a slouchy jumper. Enjoy cups of coffee as you socialise in the lounge, or carve out some you-time by getting your nose in a novel. 

With ample windows, the home is not only bright and inviting, but it means you get to keep an eye on the view even when you’re having a meal at the dining table, or settling in to watch a movie together.

It may be perfectly set up for a skiing holiday, but it’ll tend just as nicely to a nature lover’s green spirit whilst giving the whole group a space in which to relax and rejuvenate. 

The Snowy Villager

We love the views over to Mont-Blanc from the terrace of this home. Inside, the living space has the wow factor and the owners’ love of art, design, and architecture shows in the decoration and furnishings. This place is perfect for family or friends with its cosy fireplace, sauna, TV and games area, and dormitory room that the children will love. There’s also a reading corner and an office space for when you need to catch up on work. Set at the end of a private road on the edge of the forest, this home has a wonderful location. It’s 500 metres from the ski lifts and offers easy access to hiking and bike trails.

Alpine Sojourn

Majestic mountain views, a private outdoor pool and a range of luxurious features – this home has everything you could need for a rejuvenating stay in the beautiful Manigod valley. There’s also a hot tub and a sauna to inspire optimum relaxation, while the children’s toys and games ensure there’s entertainment options for the whole family. You will need a car to get around here, but it’s just a short drive into Manigod, and you’ll be spoiled for choice when it comes to adventure with the Aravis mountains on your doorstep. 


The Magic of Being

If you want to be surrounded by lake and mountain views, look no further. There’s a Nordic-style hot tub on the terrace, large gardens, a kids’ play area and pétanque pitch, as well as a shaded pergola for dining. The accommodation is over three floors, and all of the rooms capitalise on the wonderful vistas. Three bedrooms have access to a balcony, while the spacious fourth on the top floor has a seating and workout area. If you want to do some winter sports, the ski resorts of La Sambuy and Semnoz are just under thirty minutes away. In summer, there's a lakeside beach just 2 kilometres from this home, and the Voie Verte cycle and footpath passes the door.

Blue Mountain Lake

Summer or winter, this chalet makes a great base for exploring the French Alps. Set in the charming village of Manigod, you'll be treated to stunning views across the Aravis mountains – best enjoyed with a glass of bubbly or a mug of hot chocolate on the balcony. It's got everything you need for a relaxed getaway, from a revolving fireplace to boot warmers and ski storage in the garage. Though it can sleep ten with the bunk beds in use, we think it's best for eight adults and two children. Location-wise, you're just ten minutes from the Croix Fry ski station, so you can hit the slopes with ease.

The Turning Point

This second-floor apartment in Saint-Gervais-les-Bains ticks all the boxes for a wonderful escape to the alpine countryside. With epic views, easy access to the mountains, and a comfy living space where you can relax after your adventures, it's the ideal place for fans of the great outdoors to call home. 

Step inside, and you'll notice the welcoming ambiance, thanks to the soft furnishings and warm colour scheme. The open-plan layout makes it easy to chat with your fellow guests while you prepare raclette in the kitchen, before serving up your culinary creation at the dining table. There's also a beautiful private balcony, where you can enjoy a glass of wine as you breathe in the fresh air – with awe-inspiring views across Mont Blanc, it's a very special spot. 

From here, you can drive to the slopes of Saint-Gervais Mont-Blanc ski resort in around fifteen minutes, for an exhilarating day on the mountain. The town of Saint-Gervais-les-Bains itself has plenty to keep you busy in the warmer months, including a skate park, a swimming pool, and tennis courts, all within a few minutes' walk away from your front door. And, with hiking, paragliding, and hot air ballooning nearby, you can get your adrenaline pumping as you explore the majestic landscapes on foot or by air. 

Wrap Up Warm

This duplex apartment is pure Alpine bliss with a lengthy wooden balcony typical of Courcheval ski chalets and an interior of knotted pine wood and stone grey. The Scandinavian-style dining table is big enough for the whole group to gather for a post-slope hot drink and pristine, grey sofas are laden with faux fur cushions for that hygge feel. From the open-plan living area, glass double doors open up to the wooden balcony, letting the sunlight stream in during the day. Bedrooms continue the pine wood motif, creating cosy sleeping nooks for a good night’s rest before hitting the mountains on foot or by ski.   

From the balcony, you can spot the slopes snaking down the mountainside, awaiting keen skiers. This place is in Courchevel Moriond (formerly known as Courchevel 1650). It’s a friendly village ski resort with slopes for intermediate skiers, and a wider selection of ski runs can be found throughout the Three Valleys, within driving distance. 

A Blanket of Snow

This chalet is warm, welcoming and perfectly located in St. Martin de Belleville with immediate access to the largest ski hotbed in the world. With space for a large family or group of friends, this is the perfect escape for those for rest and relaxation in the Alps. Only 200 metres from the lift, you can ski out from the property and enjoy the fresh powder before returning home to decompress in the indoor pool or sauna and enjoy a meal completely tailored to your own taste and needs. The staff who manages the property is impeccably communicative and hospitable. 

Three Valleys

You’d be hard-pressed to find a chalet closer to the Transval ski lift – it passes right over the garden of this delightful home. It’s less than 3 kilometres from the centre of La Clusaz, with a ski bus departing to the slopes from just 100 metres away. Ideal for year-round visits, this chalet boasts a professional bike rack and a pool with a swim jet. There’s also a hot tub, the perfect spot from which to admire mountain views with a glass of fizz. Inside, you’ll find a chef’s kitchen, a fitness space, and a games and entertainment room. 

Mountain Relaxation

This semi-detached chalet makes an ideal base for families on an Alpine adventure. There’s room to spread out here, so you’ll always find a quiet nook when you fancy a little peace and quiet. That said, we think everyone will naturally be drawn to the outdoor space, whatever the season. The hot tub is the perfect spot for soaking up the mountain views, and alfresco dining is a must. There’s a fantastic selection of winter sports to be had here, and for experienced skiers, there’s direct access to the Envers piste – just the ticket when you're eager to get on the mountain. 

Cosy in the Alps

Originally built as a priory in the eleventh century, this medieval chateau gives you an opportunity to holiday like a member of the French nobility. The white stone turrets and sheer size of the building have lost none of their power to draw astonishment in the centuries since it was constructed and this power to surprise continues once you step inside.

The interior is a pleasing mix of the traditional and the modern, with wooden ceilinged rooms and stone cellars playing host to sleek wooden floors, ornate beds, and a striking collection of artwork. The grand dining room will bring a sense of occasion to even the simplest of meals, while the subterranean bar is an atmospheric spot for a digestif. Throw in a home cinema, games room and a lounge with an open fire, and there's sure to be something for every guest.

When the weather's on its best behaviour, there's a heated pool that benefits from stunning views of distant Alpine peaks. If these prove tempting, your host can help arrange cycling and skiing trips, as well as cooking classes and wine tastings. Closer to home, there are a handful of restaurants in the surrounding Saint Jean de la Porte.
