Rue Sainte Catherine – one of the longest pedestrianised streets in Europe – is only 1km away and has a huge range of shops to peruse. There are characteristic cobbled streets and buildings in the historic district, only 1.5km from the front door.

We love the mix of old and new in this charming country house on the outskirts of Mimizan. Glass panels sit above beamed ceilings, skylights have been added to the slanted roof, and French doors flood the open living space with sunshine. The estate also boasts its own vineyard, so wine tasting is a must. We love the swimming pool and the terrace for alfresco dining, and the tennis court will be popular with more active guests. This is a traditional home so the decor won’t suit those seeking a sleek, modern space.

Guests looking for comfortable interiors, plenty of bedrooms, a pool, and proximity to white, sandy beaches will love everything about this home. Built at the turn of the twentieth century, this chalet-inspired home has all the luxuries you could want – from the heated pool to the en-suite jacuzzi and sauna bathrooms, each guest will be given the royal treatment when staying here. We would suggest hiring a car in order to make the most of this outstanding part of the Basque country, but if you choose not to, there is a lot going on at the home itself.
