This slice of tropical modernity comes as quite a surprise in a town known for its medieval ramparts and cobbled streets. A timber cabin-style home that wouldn't look out of place in the world's most exotic corners, it's even set in a private garden that's inspired by the jungle. With three bedrooms and a family-friendly open layout, it's stylish, spacious and smart.

Inside, the wood floors and white walls are calm and neutral, with comfy furnishings and lots of house plants. There's a sleek contemporary kitchen with an island where you can sit on the stools and chat as someone rustles up dinner, and both an indoor and an outdoor dining table.

And it's outside where we think you'll be spending most of your time if you're here in the summer months. Step out of your sliding doors and straight onto the deck, partly shaded with a sail over the comfy loungers. And, you guessed it, this place also comes with a private, heated pool. 

Just hanging out here is pretty perfect in our opinion but when you want to head out and explore, the town is less than half an hour away on foot or a five-minute drive. Book a nearby boat trip, visit St Malo or discover some of the sandy beaches on the coast.

Nestled along the Malouine coast, this sleek apartment invites you to unwind and appreciate the beauty of Saint-Malo's quiet Rothéneuf region on foot. You have sandy beaches nearby, including Plage du Val, less than a ten-minute walk away, while Havre de Rothéneuf, a beautiful little cove, is also well within reach. Keen hikers can embark on a 10km walk between the Pointe du Grouin and Cap Fréhel, which will really introduce you to the idyllic seascape.

Whether you're sunbathing on the beach or hiking up the rocky cliffs, you'll love returning to this family-size apartment, ideal for seamless modern living. It's wonderfully bright and open due to the vast skylights, large sliding glass doors, and sociable layout.

The biggest draw is, of course, the outside space. With two furnished balconies, you'll be cradling your morning coffees and tucking into breakfast while watching the changing moods of the sea. It's the perfect spot for those after a private and peaceful place to relax.

Oh, to live in a French chateau and feast your eyes on miles of countryside views! Fleur De Lis is a holiday fit for even the most discerning guests, starting with a lavish tree-lined driveway that will transport you straight to the seventeenth century. As you travel, you might notice a rather large pool (all yours) where you can practise your backstroke, work on your tan, or walk right past it on your morning stroll across the estate. Depending on how you feel, you can take your meals in the regal dining room, which will involve dressing up appropriately, or you can go the informal route, dining alfresco in the gardens. There are simply so many things to do in this home, from admiring the antiques, playing tennis in the courts, watching period dramas in the appropriate setting, or even going down to the nearby sandy beach. For day trips, we recommend that you head off to see Mont St Michel, which is easily accessible via the motorway, as is the Bayeux Tapestry.

Fleur De Lis

Nestled away in the village of Plumaudan, this classic French home is waiting to welcome you in with open arms. Step inside and your eyes will be drawn to the original features that this home boasts, such as the imposing, grand fireplace and the exposed wooden beams. Sitting alongside the old, you’ll find an inviting chaise sofa, just the place to relax after a long day out exploring the local area. 

Climb the twisting wooden staircase and upstairs, there are two charming bedrooms which promise a peaceful night’s sleep once the day is done. Our favourite spot, though, is the sunny south-facing garden – just the place to start or end your day. So, whether it’s with a coffee first thing as you listen to the backdrop of birdsong, or last thing at night with a glass of fine French wine and some quality time with loved ones, this is a place to be enjoyed. 

The local village of Plumaudan is picturesque and a quiet location to spend your days. If you’re planning to travel further afield, we’d recommend a visit to the mediaeval town of Dinan, just 12 kilometres away, where you can stroll around the port, enjoy a spot of lunch or even rent a boat if a day on the water tickles your fancy. 

Classic Tranquility

Sitting close to the point at which La Rance meets La Manche, this home puts guests in an excellent location for exploring the famed beach resort of Dinard.

However, it's fair to say that there's a lot more riding in this address's favour that the spot it occupies on the map. For a start, it's actually made up of two properties that have been joined up and consequently, there's a huge amount of space behind the front door – something only emphasised by the open layout and wealth of natural light from the large windows. Added to that, the design is sleek and contemporary throughout, especially the minimalist kitchen and bathrooms.

There are wonderful views of the coastline to be had out through the windows and you can enjoy these with a sea breeze on your face as you take up residence on the large terrace, which wraps around two sides of the home. As well as that, guests also get the run of a small garden where it's easy to find a shady spot.

When you want to see a little more of the town that has drawn in illustrious visitors for quite some time, there's a coastal path all of 20m from the path that will take you around the coastline and to the golden sands of Plage de l'Écluse. There are restaurants and shops aplenty in the centre of Dinard, about 1km away, while you also have the option of catching a ten-minute taxi-boat to Saint-Malo if you wish.

Set across two floors with an adjoining self-contained apartment, you’ll find an abundance of space to relax and savour the simple pleasures of coastal living. From laid-back gatherings in the living room to refreshing drinks in the garden and intimate candlelit dinners, this is the kind of space that inspires you to settle in and make it your own. And with Dinard’s colourful market just a short walk away, you’ll find it easy to connect with the authentic charm of Brittany. 

From here, it’s just a five-minute walk to Prieuré beach where days can be spent strolling along the sand, embracing ice-cold swims, picnics and incredible views of nearby Saint-Malo (just a fifteen-minute drive away). Families will love the close proximity to the mini-golf course, while Promenade du Clair de Lune makes the perfect setting to watch the sunset.

This lovely home is a real delight. It was recently renovated, and has been beautifully decorated – you can tell how much love has gone into this home. Hues of green and jade run throughout the decor, resulting in a soothing vibe. When you’re on holiday, you want to be able to relax in style, and that’s just what you can do here. 

The stunning monochrome kitchen is a great place to begin your day, whether you’re simply preparing coffee or whipping up a feast. Everything you might need has been considered here, so cooking is a pleasure rather than a chore. When everyone is seated around the dining table, you’ll see why this home is so popular with families and groups of friends – there’s plenty of room for everyone to gather together. 

If the sun is shining, you’ll want to be outside. Lie out on a sun lounger to top up your Vitamin D, or dive right into the heated swimming pool. The south-facing terrace is a wonderful spot, looking out over the lush gardens – we’d be tempted to fire up the barbecue for a dinner under the stars. You’re close to the coast so the seafood is great – the scallops from the Bay of Saint-Brieuc in particular are divine.

This ultra-modern home in Normandy is all sleek edges, soothing shades of pebble grey, and black iron bannisters. Gather on the lux leather sofa for a movie night, and host huge family meals at the dining table set for ten. Spend days on the terrace surrounded by perfectly groomed lawns and heat up the barbecue whilst you enjoy your aperitif under the parasol. There’s even a Scandi-style desk set up on the landing inside – handy if you need to catch up on work. In the morning, head out to to the boulangeries of this seaside town, just a short walk away. There’s a long, sandy beach and plenty of ice cream shops along the shore for a proper seaside escape.

Located on the outskirts of Saint-Briac, you're a short walk from several sandy beaches and outstanding golf courses, while being just 1.5 kilometres from the town centre, full of charm and character, with granite houses, small cobbled streets, bakeries, shops, and seafood restaurants. 

Architecturally, it's a stunning design and we love how the owners have made use of the space. With the double-vaulted ceiling, skylights, and floor-to-ceiling windows making the home wonderfully inviting and open. Whether you're cooking in the contemporary kitchen, mapping out the daily plans around the dining table, or enjoying your holiday read in the cosy living area, it's all in one space so you can really make the space into your own social sanctuary. 

The star of the show is the large decked terrace outside, complete with seating and a barbecue for alfesco meals in the sunshine. When it's time to head out, walk to the pristine sand of Plage Du Bechet or Plage De La Salinette, and enjoy fun-filled days sunbathing and swimming.

Sea Whispers 

We fell hard for this characterful home not far from the St Lunaire coastline and we're pretty sure other guests will be just as smitten. A lot of that is down to the design. Much of it is contemporary in scope, from the minimalist kitchen and stark white walls to the bare wooden floors and the chic selection of furnishings. However, there are a few features that hark back to the past, like the large cabinets filled with curios and the vintage wall signs.

One of our favourite parts of the home, however, is just how bright it feels – that's what'll happen if you fill the walls with large windows, skylights and floor-to-ceiling glass doors. If you want to feel the sun directly on your skin, you only have to step outside onto one of the pair of terraces, which have both loungers and an alfresco dining table for making the most of sunny weather.

If you're lucky with the forecast, you'll probably want to make the most of the fact that St Lunaire's main beach is less than a kilometre away and there are a few more along this stretch of Breton coastline to explore. The centre of town is just as close when you want restaurants and shops, but there's a greater variety in the Dinard, only a short drive away.
