This home is in the jolly seaside town of Carnac Plage, putting shops, restaurants and cafés all on your doorstep. It’s also just a two-minute dander to the town’s popular sweep of sandy beach, with calm shallows perfect for bathing and paddling.  A traditional-style French townhouse with white-wash wooden shutters hides a modern interior. The breezy, open living area has a handful of seating areas for the group to spread out on and a kitchen big enough for the bustle of a busy family breakfast time. It’s all centred around a fireplace at the heart of the home. The garden is a real treat, set with alfresco dining for the group and bursting with alliums and hydrangea and shaded by ancient trees.

Alliums By The Sea

This is a beautiful single-family house located in La Trinité sur Mer, just 900 metres from the sea and 1.4km from the beach. The house features large living and dining areas with beautiful furnishings, as well as an open kitchen with modern appliances and a dining nook. There are four bedrooms, including one on the ground floor with a French bed and an en-suite shower. Upstairs, there is another room with a French bed and two rooms with twin beds. Guests can enjoy a spacious terrace with outdoor furniture and a barbecue, as well as a garden that is currently being developed. Other amenities include free WiFi, a garage for two cars, and storage for bicycles. The property is conveniently located near shops, restaurants, sports facilities, and attractions like Carnac et ses Alignements and Presqu'Ile de Quiberon.

The Marine Garden

Just a nine-minute drive from the awe-inspiring, prehistoric Carnac Stones, this stone villa might not be as ancient, but it’s certainly got a different type of allure. Your apartment is set up in the sloped roof of this traditional home, where the rich wood of the pine planks brings warmth and colour to otherwise understated interiors. We love the natural feel of the living and dining space – wicker chairs and decorations, faux fur throws, and pale wooden floors are illuminated by a sloped window and the glass doors leading to the balcony. This cute outdoor spot looks out to views of nearby gardens. We think it's the perfect place to enjoy a fresh baguette, nibble some olives, and sip a chilled glass of sauvignon blanc. At bedtime, ascend the staircase to the mezzanine floor. Mirrored wardrobes extend the space, with yet more fabulous wooden slatted ceilings to wake up to. After your morning café au lait, grab your beach towel and take an eight-minute walk to Plage de Carnac. Spend the morning trying watersports like kitesurfing, then spend the afternoon sunbathing while you listen to the lapping waves.

Granite Fields

Part of a building constructed only in 2022, you can certainly tell that this apartment is a recent addition to Brittany. Everything about the interior feels fresh and contemporary, from the stark white walls and on-trend mid-century furnishings to the oh-so-modern kitchen.

Another big draw is the balcony, which has plenty of space for outdoor dinners that stretch long into the evening. Alternatively, you can bring a taste of alfresco life to the interior by sliding open the large glass doors and letting in a coastal breeze.

When it comes to seeing a little more of the local area, you don't have far to reach the seaside — indeed, Plage de Beaumer takes eight minutes to reach on foot. The famous Carnac stones — a collection of megalithic standing stones, tombs and burial mounds — are a similar amount of time away by car.

The Pleasure is All Mine

Carnac is a fabulous hub of quaint churches, artisan cheesemongers, delicious seafood restaurants, and prehistoric monuments. This town’s eclectic mix of activities is sure to keep you on your toes, but it’s equally wonderful for simply sunbathing on the shore. And when you're living on a street called Boulevard de la Plage, you can imagine that there might be a beach in sight. A five-minute stroll from the beachfront of Grande Plage de Carnac, this modern studio is the perfect base for your seaside stay. Set in a mid-century block of flats, the understated exteriors don’t give away much about what you’ll find inside. Elegant and sophisticated, your living space features wooden floors, cabinets, and a wicker lampshade which bring a certain warmth to this cosy space. With your own little private balcony, alfresco dining is certainly on the cards. Break into a fresh baguette with a few slices of Saint-Paulin cheese (a Breton favourite) and olive oil as you plan the afternoon ahead. If you’ve eaten too much for watersports and swimming on the beach, take a seven-minute drive to the Carnac Stones – these granite megaliths date as far back as 4500 BC.

Saint-Paulin

There are so many spaces in which to relax at this contemporary home, you'll be spoilt for choice. On the terrace, take a dip in the swimming pool or lie back on a sun lounger with a book, or settle down on the lounge set for drinks with family and friends. Inside, the open-plan living space boasts a contemporary kitchen with diner plus a substantial corner sofa – the perfect place to put your feet up at the end of the day. There are also plenty of useful amenities for a longer stay, including a washing machine, dryer, and freezer. This home has a fantastic location, too; it's just a 10-minute drive from the historic town of Carnac and the beach at Sainte-Barbe. Elsewhere, the Quiberon peninsula is also worth a visit – make sure to pick up some canned sardines, the town's delicacy. Return home as the sun goes down for a barbecue in the garden, perhaps with a glass of local Brittany wine.

Waltzing Along

This cozy 3-room apartment is located in a residential district just 50 meters from the sea with direct access to the beach. The apartment is situated on the fourth floor and has a south-facing terrace with beautiful sea views. It features comfortable furnishings, including a living/dining room with a flat-screen TV, two bedrooms, and a fully equipped kitchen with an oven, dishwasher, and microwave. The apartment also includes a washing machine and free WiFi. Guests can enjoy nearby attractions such as Alignements dolmens et menhirs, Presqu'île de Quiberon 15 km, Vannes 30 km, Lorient 50 km. Parking is available on-site and there is an elevator in the building for easy access.

The Compass Rose

Nestled amidst established gardens, yet just moments from Carnac's longest and most popular beach – this apartment has a location that's hard to beat. With a mere two-minute stroll you can be in the heart of the bustling resort centre for a spot of lunch, before heading over to Carnac’s renowned thalassotherapy and spa for some rejuvenation. Or for the culture vultures, spend the afternoon exploring Carnac’s Stones – an exceptionally dense collection of megalithic sites (top fact - they pre-date Stonehenge by around 100 years). Back at home, you’ll find fresh, modern interiors throughout. Families or groups of friends sharing will appreciate the two separate bathrooms, meaning no valuable time wasted queuing for the shower. We're particularly fond of the private balcony that gives way to green views of the quiet gardens below and has a dining table ready to go for an evening of alfresco dining. The same green views are also enjoyed from the two bedrooms, meaning you’re all in for a peaceful night's sleep here.

A Bolt Hole From The Blue

Spend an idyllic afternoon on the white sands of Carnac's Grande Plage – we love that this fabulous beach is just a hop and a skip away. If you tire of dipping your toes in the crystal clear waters of the Iroise Sea – unlikely, we know – this town offers a myriad of other attractions to enjoy. It has more megalithic sites than you can shake a stick at – around 3000 standing stones to be exact, giving it the world's greatest concentration. If that's not your thing, head to the Carnac Spa for all sorts of thalassotherapy treatments. Of course, there's also a wide choice of seafood restaurants and boutiques to choose from right on your doorstep. You don't have to go anywhere to enjoy the seascape though. Just take a seat on your south-facing balcony and enjoy the vista opening up to the sea. Inside, a blend of calming greys, beach tones, nautical themes and natural materials create an abode that feels both stylish and homely. At the end of the day, the tastefully decorated and comfy bedrooms will ensure you have a good night's sleep – which is a good job, with so much on offer in this slice of Brittany.

Flintstones

When it comes to long-awaited holidays, we sometimes want them so jam-packed with adventure that we can't decide where to actually go. This wooden home in Bretagne may make things easier for you. Want a holiday by the pool, where you are only breaking away from the loungers to have lunch? Done. We'll throw in a hot tub as well, in case your muscles need a soak. Want to have a quick round of gold? Check – the closest golf course is only ten kilometres away. Plus, the beaches of Bretagne are under fifteen-minutes by car. There's an outdoor barbecue if you're into cooking your meals, or many restaurants around in case you want a round of oysters and a bottle of Pouilly Fumé.
