Our favourite feature, without a doubt, is the private leafy terrace. As it’s heated, you can spend peaceful mornings here with a good book and a cup of coffee or evening drinks as the sun sets, at any time of year. While we wouldn’t blame you for wanting to stay holed up in your arty haven, go out and explore the nearby sights – of which there are many. Back at this home, relax with a glass of Champagne on the private terrace with its pretty oleander shrubs. Then, head back through the French doors and whip up some ratatouille with goat's cheese in the modern kitchen if you don't fancy eating out. This home also comes with secure, underground parking, which is a real plus in this city location. You'll find an array of restaurants, cafes, and boutique shops in the neighbourhood, too. The apartment itself is an absolute gem, filled with Parisian charm. As it's spread across two levels, the relaxing space is ample, and the kitchen is well-stocked to whip up home-cooked French feasts. Just note that it's on the third floor of a building without a lift, so a few flights of stairs are required. But, if you ask us, the effort is more than worth it.

Just across the road from the Seine and a four-minute walk from the historic Place de la Bastille, this chic, modern apartment provides an artsy base from which to explore the city’s most famous sights. Wood floors and contemporary furnishings provide an instantly stylish welcome in the main living space with large windows proffering views of the Bastille. We love the carefully curated design in this room, from the layered pendant lighting above a solid wood table to the blue feature wall and clever mirrored doors that slide back to reveal a sleek kitchenette – ideal for cooking up feasts with fresh produce from Marché Bastille (a six-minute walk). The bedrooms, too, have been styled with a keen eye – we particularly like the master’s Parisian feature wall Factor in the Bluetooth sound system for soirées soundtracked by Edith Piaf, the luxurious rainfall shower and the tub that invites long soaks with a glass of bubbly after a day of sightseeing, and you’re all set for a relaxing time. Speaking of exploring, you’re just a twenty-minute walk from the cool Marais district as well as Notre Dame, a thirty-minute stroll from Père Lachaise Cemetery and a thirty-five-minute walk from the Louvre.

The living room sleeps two guests on a sofa bed at full occupancy, and there’s a well-appointed kitchen for when you want to cook at home.

Despite being in the heart of the 4th arrondissement, this home, nestled in a quiet courtyard, manages to stay serene. While only four minutes from the Bréguet-Sabin metro, arriving at this location feels like a secret garden, with lush foliage leading up to your front door. Inside, a generous living space is bathed in natural light from large French windows. And the innovative use of glass partitions for the kitchen and bedroom keep the layout modern and spacious, yet very stylish. With touches of both mid-century charm and industrial utilitarianism, the result is a fresh but cosy decor. Our favourite piece has to be the feature wall of quirky animal portraits (maybe your furry friend could join in?). Outside, if you’re looking for landmarks, you’ll be spoilt for choice between two exceptionally famous squares. The Place de la Bastille is a four-minute walk, and the Place des Vosges is six. The latter is also home to an important attraction for fans of French literature – the Maison de Victor Hugo. Less than 2km away, we recommend making the trendy Canal Saint-Martin your top spot for drinking and dining. Street food and waterside cocktails are definitely on the menu. 

Monsieur Woof

This apartment is well-placed to explore Paris. You'll find it in the lively 11th arrondissement, just a stone's throw from Place de la Bastille. Many eateries, music venues, and shops are in the local area, not to mention metro stations within walking distance that make travel a cinch. Back home, the cosy lounge is where you'll do your unwinding. A small kitchen is ready for you to whip up light bites, while the lofted bedrooms are comfortable – albeit a tad snug. There's also a sofa bed for guests five and six, but we think it'd be a squeeze.

With the Seine just a stone’s throw away and the historic Place de la Bastille a four-minute walk from your door, this elegant apartment puts you in an ideal spot to see the city’s most famous sights. Minimalist yet chic, there’s something incredibly Parisian about the dining room’s bistro-style chairs, the wood floors and large draped windows in the main living space. You’ll relish kicking back on the bright red sofa with a glass of French wine and a box of macarons and gathering around the table for meals made with fresh produce from the weekly Marché Bastille on Boulevard Richard-Lenoir, a six-minute walk away. With their vibrant pops of red and sleek white detailing, the bedrooms are also all set to drift you into a comfortable night’s sleep ahead of another day of sightseeing. Speaking of exploring, you’re just a twenty-minute walk from both Notre Dame and the trendy Marais district, a thirty-minute stroll from Père Lachaise Cemetery and a thirty-five-minute walk from the Louvre.

Grab local produce from the Bastille Market on Thursdays and Sundays and cook dinner in the sleek kitchen, or head out to explore the (many) restaurants of the 11th arrondissement.

Eleventh Haven

The impeccable location of this unusual home is what first caught our eye. It’s on a beloved street just a stone’s throw from Place des Vosges, in the heart of the Marais. Shops, bars, and restaurants abound here, as well as some of the best boulangeries in Paris. You’ll be in the thick of things, just a ten-minute walk from beautiful Île Saint-Louis and the Notre-Dame. The apartment has a few quirks, with the bedroom accessible via a steep, open staircase, and the kitchen in the same space. Downstairs, there’s a cosy stone-walled living room, where guests three and four will sleep. Privacy is limited, but we can forgive that for such a great location.

Maximalism is the order of the day here, but with such charming Parisian flair, we dare even the most dedicated minimalist not to fall in love with this home. It also delivers on the amenities front with plenty of space to socialise and air-conditioned bedrooms. The winding streets of Le Marais are right on your doorstep, leading you to art galleries, boutiques and plenty of bistros where you can stop and watch the world go by. And, if you want to see the city, there are three different Metro stations within a five minute walk from the apartment.

A modern and functional home in a hip neighbourhood – you'll be close to Place de la Bastille and the main sights of Paris. Decorated in a fresh, contemporary look, each bedroom is airy and well sized. There is air conditioning throughout and plenty of entertainment options, with TVs in both bedrooms. Perfectly equipped to comfortably accommodate a group of four, it may also work for larger groups looking for more of a base than a home from home.
