Set in one of our favourite parts of the city, just on the banks of the river, it's tucked away in such a peaceful little courtyard you may find it hard to comprehend you're in the centre of Paris. This ground-floor apartment has been refurbished recently and mixes period features like high ceilings with modern minimalism, a sleek white kitchen and a touch of industrial styling. Comfortable, bright and surprisingly private, it's a real retreat away from the bustling city streets.

Step outside each morning and grab a coffee and croissant as you stroll along the Seine – it's just a six-minute walk to take in the impressive view of Notre Dame, currently being restored. Close to the buzzing Latin Quarter, there's no shortage of great places to eat, drink and shop, and most of the city's big attractions are within walking distance.

In an art nouveau building located in the latin quarter, you can find this light and bright home that ticks every box. The large windows are luminous, drenching each room in light, as well as offering stunning views of the Eiffel tower. Decorated in a Scandi-style, the rooms are minimal and pared-back, yet cosy and warm – a delight after a day's exploration. The kitchen is well-equipped, ideal to cook up a storm, but there's only a small counter to enjoy dinner at, so a better choice for those who want to eat out.

Rustic yet regal, this is the kind of pied a terre that only Paris can pull off. On the banks of the Seine, it’s just across the river from Île de la Cité with Notre Dame in one direction (a fifteen-minute walk away) and The Louvre in the other (a ten-minute walk). Despite its city-centre location, the decor is distinctly provincial with wood-beamed ceilings painted sunflower yellow and hand-cut tiles in the bathroom from the south of France. Come home after a long day and sprawl out on the sofa, nibbling on French cheese, fresh-baked bread and sharing a bottle of wine picked up from the market. We love the exposed brick in the kitchen, the skylights in the bathroom and the soft, modern furnishings. The style is minimal, the living space bright, and the bedroom super comfortable. This flat may be on the smaller side, but we think it'll do nicely for solo travellers and couples wanting to stay in the centre of the action.

This pocket-sized flat may be snug, but trust us, the scenery more than makes up for it. From the window, you'll have a birds-eye view of Notre Dame in the distance, standing tall over Paris' rooftops. It's a striking peek across the city, and combined with the generous amount of natural light and simple aesthetic, it makes a stay here feel unique. Following a long day exploring, come home and unwind with a glass of wine on the sofa or a quick nibble around the dining table. There's not heaps of space – in fact, two guests will be sleeping on the sofa bed – but the location is excellent. Situated on a quiet street in the Latin Quarter, you're just a short walk from the Seine, Luxembourg Gardens and, of course, Notre Dame. We love this culturally-rich area – it's ripe with eateries, cafes and charming shops frequented by Sorbonne students – and all the major sights are either a quick metro ride or stroll away.

Nestled in the 6th arrondissement, this studio provides a calm sanctuary in the heart of the city. Outside, it’s less than a ten-minute stroll to Notre Dame, and you’ll find cafes, restaurants and shops all within easy reach. There is no private parking available here, but you’ll find great public transport links and your host can arrange a private chauffeur service. Inside, the bedroom and living room are separated by a glass wall – a clever design feature that ensures you have plenty of space to switch off and unwind. At full occupancy one guest will be sleeping on the sofa bed, but this is a handy option for families travelling with children.

Small but stylish, this apartment is a great option for short stays. You'll be based in the vibrant Latin Quarter, where bookshops, cafes, and bistros are all within easy reach. For sightseeing, Notre Dame is a short walk away, though there's a metro nearby to explore further afield. The apartment is compact yet comfortable. Guests three and four will sleep on a sofa bed, but as the only bathroom is en-suite and the whole place is pretty pocket-sized, we think it's best for two.

The kitchen isn't the biggest, but you'll find plenty of cafes, bistros, and brasseries in the local area where you can whet your appetite. You'll find two comfortable bedrooms here, including one with an en-suite, as well as a sofa bed for guests five and six. Daily cleaning is also included – that's all our boxes ticked.

Staying in the Latin Quarter gives you effortless access to some of Paris’ best eateries and attractions. This Left Bank home is just a short walk from the Panthéon and Jardin des Plantes, fifteen minutes from Île Saint-Louis and the Notre-Dame. You’ll be next door to the Sorbonne, returning home from sightseeing amid intellectuals and students. If you’ll be working during your stay, there’s a desk in the bedroom. There’s also a well-equipped kitchen, if you feel like cooking.

Situated on Île Saint-Louis, this apartment is a striking distance from Notre Dame, the Latin Quarter, and the Seine. We love how much sunlight there is here, and the contemporary decor meshes perfectly with the original character features. The kitchen is well-appointed if you fancy rustling up meals at home, both bedrooms are roomy and bright, and two bathrooms mean that nobody will have to share. Factor in the proximity to cafes, restaurants, and the neighbourhood's famous ice cream shop, and it more than ticks our boxes.

The location of this apartment is hard to beat. Notre-Dame cathedral is just a four-minute walk across the river and the pretty Jardin du Luxembourg is nearby too. Plus, with a Metro stop two minutes away, it’s easy to tick off the rest of your Parisian bucket list. The living room feels bright and open thanks to high ceilings and big windows, with a petite yet practical kitchen area, dining space, and a sofa bed. There’s also a compact and cosy bedroom. With so much on your doorstep, you probably won’t spend much time here, but when you do come back to recharge your batteries, it’s a comfortable place to unwind.

Notre-Dame Dreaming

Awash with colour, this cosy Parisian apartment certainly packs a punch. Perfect for a family or group of friends on a French getaway, it’s worth noting that two people will sleep on the sofa bed here. And, while there’s a lift to reach this third-floor home, it only carries one person at a time – so if you’re able, you may prefer to use the stairs. There’s no air conditioning here, but with Luxembourg Gardens and the River Seine within easy reach, a stroll in the fresh air to take in the sights is likely to be high on your to-do list.

This spacious home, situated on the ground floor, and accessed directly from the street, is ideal for a family, friends or business travellers. Bear in mind, though, that there's only one bathroom for six guests at full capacity.

It may not be as iconic as its neighbour but it’s just as beautiful – and you'll be treated to panoramas of the gothic architecture from the living room windows. View aside, we love the space on offer here, even if the second bedroom is a tad snug and two guests will sleep on a sofa bed. The contemporary finishes are a nice touch, too. There's a soaker bath, a sleek kitchen, and even air conditioning – no wonder it caught our eye.

Located in one of Paris' oldest neighbourhoods, Monnaie, this traditional apartment promises an authentic stay in the historic city of lights. Located on the left bank of the Seine, it's a haven away from the hustle and bustle and yet many of the top cultural landmarks are all easily reachable on foot. 

We particularly love the original wood beams, sloped ceilings and Juliet balconies that hark out Parisian design and flair. The centrepiece of this characterful home is the grand piano at the far end of the open-plan living area – besides it, you'll find a lovely spot for a sing-along or a quiet moment's downtime while gazing out across the rooftops and soaking up the calm atmosphere. Gather the group for breakfast in the elegant dining area, with croissants and cups of coffee being passed around. There's even a light-filled desk space upstairs and a cosy reading nook for those who are keeping one eye on work or who are after a gentler start to the day. 

When you're ready and raring to hit the streets, the surrounding neighbourhood is an artsy area, loved by locals and tourists alike for its galleries, museums and upscale jewellery stores. When you've worked up an appetite, you'll find many of the restaurants and bars offer gorgeous river views for special outdoor meals together.

This neighbourhood has something for everyone – independent shops, gourmet eateries, postcard-pretty sidewalk cafes. It's also a short walk from some of the city's most famous landmarks, including the Louvre and Notre Dame. Though it's not the biggest – especially when the sofa bed is in use – the design perfectly blends contemporary with charm. We love the green accents and the characterful wooden beams. Daily maid service is also a huge perk – no wonder it caught our eye.

On a typically Parisian street in the Bastille neighbourhood, this apartment radiates ultra-modern cool. On your street, you’ve got classic French bistros with seating spilling out onto the pavement under awnings and chi chi little gallery shops. A two-minute stroll away are the café-lined banks of the Canal Saint-Martin and the Place de Bastille where myriad metro stations can whisk you to Notre Dame and The Louvre in less than ten minutes. 

Positioned on an internal courtyard, this apartment is a haven of calm in the city. Everything inside is crisp white and raw wood with fawn and stone touches. Pops of modern art liven up gallery-white walls and an exposed brick wall adds a bit of a warehouse-chic vibe. Our favourite spot has to be the private courtyard terrace, which is blissfully quiet and has alfresco dining set up if you wish.

A cosy apartment down a quiet cobblestoned alley in the Fifth Arrondissement, within a two-minute stroll of the lively market street of Rue Mouffetard. 'La Mouf' is the oldest street in Paris, and on weekends you'll find locals haggling over fresh produce. On Sundays, everyone flocks to the square at the southern end of the street, where locals gather to dance and sing accompanied by the accordion – it's an experience not to be missed. The apartment's living space in warm earthy tones will make you feel instantly at home, while the bold lime green kitchen is sure to add some zest to any homemade dishes. The first thing that has to be mentioned with this Parisian apartment is the location, which really is superb. The building sits right on the banks of the Seine and the Notre-Dame cathedral is only three minutes' walk away. The Louvre can be reached in ten, too. However, despite this proximity to the big sights, the locale is remarkably peaceful and the home's interior doesn't feel like a trade-off of any kind. Not only is it pleasingly large, but it's also got bundles of character. Modern pieces, such as the multi-coloured artwork and the kitchen finished in a particularly Gallic shade of burgundy, sit quite happily alongside more vintage touches, like the studded iron support beams and the beautiful clock hanging on the wall. We defy anyone not to fall head over heels for this address.

We should also mention that two guests are accommodated in this room on a sofa bed at full capacity. We love the small terrace with its glimpse over the rooftops to the Notre Dame in the distance, and there's a view over to the River Seine from the front of the home, too.

Walk five minutes in one direction and you'll reach the spires of Notre Dame, while nine minutes the opposite way lies the leafy Luxembourg Gardens. Charming bookstores, local eateries and cosy cafes abound in this neighbourhood, so if living like a true Parisian is what you're after, you can't go wrong with this postcode. Inside, it's minimally decorated with Scandinavian-inspired pieces – think clean, uncluttered living spaces and classic, contemporary design. We adored the large windows and their quintessential Juliet balconies – although there's nowhere to sit on them, you can still throw open the French doors and watch the city pass by on the streets below. The kitchen is a little tiny – we think it's better suited towards light meals and smaller bites – and there's only one bathroom, but otherwise, this fantastically-placed pad is a great option for small groups or families wanting a typical Paris getaway.

The Two Stars

Situated on the little island between Le Marais and Notre Dame de Paris, this home is far away from the hustle and bustle of Paris, but still accessible enough, giving you the best of both worlds. It also means that the immediate area – known for having been an aristocratic area in the 19th century – has a particular small-town charm that makes sitting outside a cafe with a cappuccino feel special. Stroll the avenues looking for the perfect spot for a holiday selfie before grabbing a bite to eat at one of the many authentic eateries of the neighbourhood. 
 
After a day of sightseeing, eating to your heart's content, and sipping one too many coffees – if there is such a thing – head back and enjoy the eclectic comfort the home has to offer. Designed by a French architect, it has all the flourishes of Parisian living, but with an efficient floor plan and vibrancy that’s hard to rival.
