Sitting in a central spot to the south of the Seine, we're sure that you'll be just as smitten with this bright apartment as we are. There's a simply huge amount of natural light from the windows and doors that line the living space and this shines rather nicely off the stark white walls, wooden floor and sleek kitchen surfaces.

While it may not have the Haussmanian period charm of other homes in the French capital, the furnishings and finishes are all contemporary – even a little minimalist so in places – and there are no parts that we can identify as needing some urgent love and attention. There's plenty of room to kick back and relax after some serious sightseeing, while the smartly designed kitchen is plenty big enough should you decide you need a night off the city's famous restaurants.

Whenever you choose to leave the home, you'll be immediately greeted by the building's plant-filled courtyard, which is a pleasing pocket of green in the heart of the metropolis. Beyond that, it's easy to stroll over to some well-known attractions, including the Luxembourg Gardens and Les Invalides.

This apartment is located in one of the city's most iconic neighbourhoods, Saint-Germain des Prés. There are many attractions within walking distance such as the Jardin du Luxembourg and the Hôtel des Invalides, as well as boutiques and top-quality restaurants to discover. Talking of dining – this home’s kitchen is on the compact side, but it has everything you need for cooking some French cuisine and there’s a dining table in the living room. This space also accommodates two more guests on a sofa bed. We think this place is an ideal pied-à-terre for exploring this slice of Paris and beyond.

Nestled within the heart of Saint-Germain-des-Prés but overlooking a quiet courtyard, its location in this buzzing part of town is also practical for visiting many of the sights on foot. Although it doesn't tick the box for spacious or offer in-home entertainment options, its edgy look and ideal location make it a worthy option for those looking for unfussy accommodation.

Voyage of the Beagle

French elegance radiates from every corner of this apartment. Designer wallpaper, ornamental fireplaces, ornate crown moulding – if you're after a characteristic stay, this is it. There's plenty of space for six, though a period home like this does come with a few quirks – both bathrooms are en-suite and the kitchen is on the smaller side. In terms of location, however, you're in an excellent spot. Multiple metro stations are within walking distance – the closest is Vaneau, a five-minute stroll away – and you've got the cafes, restaurants, and boutiques in artsy Saint-Germain-des-Prés easily reached on foot.

A French Heart

This charming studio apartment is the perfect place to experience authentic Paris. It’s in the heart of Saint-Germain-des-Prés, just a short walk from Jardins du Luxembourg, the Seine, and many of Paris’ most loved sights. To visit further-afield attractions, you need only hop on the metro at Saint-Placide, which is four minutes away on foot. The apartment features exposed beams and a mezzanine sleeping area, with two guests on a sofa bed below. We were taken by how light the home is, and how much room there is – for a studio in Paris, it’s practically palatial. 

Saint Germain Charm

This apartment is the perfect spot for a large group, with two separate apartments in one. There’s plenty of space for both social and private moments, with two living rooms, dining areas and kitchens. With four guests sleeping on sofa beds, we think this pad is better for a short city break, though it’s a great option if you’re seeking flexibility. And while city noise is to be expected here, this central location places you within easy reach of the Eiffel Tower, Hôtel des Invalides and Le Bon Marché.

Situated in Paris's Saint Germain-des-Prés, this two-bedroom apartment is ideal for work trips and family breaks. The ceilings are on the low side so it won't be suited to taller guests, but the interior courtyards on both sides of the home mean you'll get a nice breeze and less noise than in other central spots. While there's no parking outside, we love the location. The area is rich with restaurants and museums, and you'll find the Bon Marché close by for indulging in some retail therapy. For seeing all of Paris's best bits, Vaneau metro station is a five-minute walk away.

Just over a ten-minute walk from this charming, renovated artist's studio, in a pretty tree-lined 17th century courtyard, in the heart of the Left Bank, takes you to beautiful St-Germain-des-Prés. Its many cafes have been frequented in the past by artists and writers such as Picasso and Hemingway. Down its narrow streets, you'll find stylish boutiques and fine dining restaurants galore. The city's oldest and most iconic department store, Le Bon Marché, with La Grande Épicerie, the largest food hall in Paris, is just a five-minute saunter. Or, have a wander around the stunning Luxembourg Palace, a fifteen-minute stroll away. Back at this cosy home, we love the feel of this bright abode with its stone walls and old wooden beams – it's the perfect Parisian hideaway. On chillier evenings, light the fire, pour a glass of wine or make a brew with the gourmet tea provided and totally unwind. Wake up the following day to a tasty breakfast arranged by your lovely host, if you wish. In fact, there are an array of services available here to help you make the most of your stay, from a private chef to create the ultimate romantic dining experience to restaurant reservations. You could be forgiven for not wanting to leave, despite the delightful neighbourhood on your doorstep. We're very jealous of the lucky person or couple who get the chance to stay longer.

Copper Courtyard

This tasteful home makes for a comfortable and practical base for two in Paris. The Latin Quarter location means that you’re in the thick of things, with Jardin du Luxembourg just 550 metres away and Notre Dame a fifteen-minute stroll. Mabillon metro station is also close by. The apartment itself is tucked down a small street, and has everything you might need. There’s a desk in the living room for remote working, and the projector in the bedroom means you can add cosy movie nights to your itinerary. The only downside to this charming apartment is that it’s on the fourth floor with no lift – it won’t be suitable for everyone.

Located in the southwest tip of Saint Germain-des-Prés, this petite but cosy flat used to be part of an art gallery. Managed by the neighbouring hotel, you can also expect hotel-quality services such as an optional breakfast and an on-call reception desk as well as daily cleaning for an additional fee. This home has the air of a small photographer's gallery with its street-side orientation and decorative black and white photography, making it the perfect stylish pad from which to explore the bohemian Rive Gauche. A twelve minute stroll will bring you to leafy Luxembourg Gardens plus, thanks to the excellent public transport links, you can arrive in the city centre in under twenty minutes. 

Galerie Girard

This slightly quirky home is a convenient base in Paris. It’s close to the Mabillon metro station and is within easy walking distance of the Luxembourg Gardens and Notre Dame. You’ll have your pick of restaurants, bars, and theatres nearby, too. There are two living rooms here, one of which houses a sofa bed for two guests – as well as a desk for remote working. A child can also be accommodated in a mezzanine-level single bed, but this won’t be suitable for everyone given the stairs. 

Artisan Abode

With its French windows, Juliet balconies, and typically Parisian exterior, this apartment radiates charm. Although it's cramped in places (especially the bedroom), you'll find plenty of amenities to make your stay comfortable. There's a desk for remote working, a fully-equipped (albeit compact) kitchen, and a cosy living area where you can put your feet up after sightseeing. While it's certainly not the brightest or biggest home, you can't fault the location. The Musee d'Orsay, Les Invalides, and Eiffel Tower are nearby, with bars, restaurants, and the metro also within walking distance.

Wow was the first word we uttered when we saw the views from the living room of the Eiffel Tower, Les Invalides, Montparnasse Tower and the West Parisian rooftops. But that was just the start – the large terrace with tables and chairs, as well as a long balcony has incredible vistas of Notre Dame, Église Saint-Sulpice, and Église de Saint Germain des Prés – this place is truly divine. Enjoy some oysters and Champagne here as you take in the breathtaking city panorama. 

Each bedroom has its own private balcony, too, so there's plenty of outdoor space, and with air conditioning, you're guaranteed to keep your cool. Unwind on the blue velvet sofa before heading out to explore this exclusive neighbourhood.

It's a five-minute amble to the beautiful Luxembourg Gardens – perfect for a romantic wander through the rose gardens and orchards. Or soak in the atmosphere at Saint Germain market, just eight minutes on foot. There are plenty of high-end boutiques, boulangeries and stylish eateries right on your doorstep too. 

Alternatively, culture vultures can head to Théâtre du Vieux Colombier, a four-minute stroll or go to the local cinema a twelve-minute saunter away. A couple of attractions you can see from this gorgeous apartment, the Notre Dame and Montparnasse Tower, are both around a twenty-minute walk if you want to take a closer look.

Not only are you strolling distance from the shops, restaurants, and sidewalk cafes in Saint-Germain-des-Pré, but all the famous landmarks are just a quick metro ride away. When you're not out and about, make yourself at home in this light-filled pad. It's not the biggest (nor the most modern), but it's a fuss-free option for families and couples. There's a desk if you need to catch up on work and a sofa bed that can sleep one adult or two children. We love the character features most of all – from the large French windows to the Juliet balconies overlooking the typically Parisian courtyard.

Simplicity at its finest, this apartment makes a fantastic base in Paris. You'll find it in bohemian Saint-Germain-des-Prés, only 700 metres from Luxembourg Gardens and close to local shops and restaurants. We love the minimalist interiors – clean, uncluttered aesthetics blend seamlessly with the building's French character. Each room gets plenty of natural light, too. There isn't a TV here, but with well-stocked bookshelves and lots to see and do on your doorstep, we reckon you won't need one.

This opulent 18th-century apartment is right at home in the history-rich district of Saint-Germain-des-Prés. Look beyond the heirloom antiques and gilded mouldings, and you'll see it makes for a practical stay, too. The kitchen is palatial by inner-city Parisian standards, with a breakfast table nook if the dining room feels too grand for morning coffees and croissants. Both bedrooms have en-suites, and there's a desk to keep on top of emails. This is one of the most coveted addresses in Paris, and for a good reason. You'll be close to the bohemian delights of Saint-Germain-des-Prés and equidistant from the Jardins du Luxembourg and Jardins des Tuileries – perfect for morning strolls and summer picnics.

A stylish and contemporary home that's been designed as a loft with a mezzanine to completely optimise on space, creating a calm and functional holiday home, full of light. Located in Gaité Montparnasse, a historic district and buzzing neighbourhood that's known for its theatre and nightlife. Away from the neighbourhood, Starlet & Stow is a film buff's dream, complete with a veritable library of cinema books, you're sure to be entertained in one way or another.

A minute's walk from Paris' much-loved Luxembourg Gardens, you'd be hard-pressed to find a more desirable address anywhere in the city. These formal gardens are the largest in the city and attract locals with the promise of chess, tennis, basketball, pony rides, pétanque courts, and even the city's largest puppet theatre – a true haven for families.

In addition to the gardens, there are plenty of quaint cafes and iconic eateries within a short walk. Standout options include Bread & Roses for the best quiche in Paris (just across the road), long-running coffeehouse and celebrity haunt Café de Flore, and iconic brasserie Les Deux Magots – both a ten-minute walk away. 

Step inside the apartment and you'll find the second bedroom and a bathroom on the entrance level, with the majority of the apartment up a flight of stairs. While the downstairs bedroom is fairly classic in design, the first floor is full of little hints about your hosts at every turn, from the leopard print dining chairs to the tiger-striped sofa and the cheetah-spotted throw pillows in the main bedroom, their love of the African savannah is immediately obvious. The rest we'll just leave you to piece together, though we think we spied a ceramic Elvis somewhere on the shelves.

There's plenty of space for a family to spread out in this bright three-bedroom apartment near Saint-Germain-des-Prés and the gorgeous Luxembourg Gardens. It's worth pointing out that the apartment is on the fourth floor and there's no lift, so it may not be suitable for everyone.

We love the huge windows, which add light and warmth to this enchanting apartment. The main bedroom has a workspace, too, making this a solid choice of base if you need to work during your stay.
