You’ll be wowed by the gallery-style collection of art and photographs on display, especially the mosaic of the homeowner's photography that takes centre stage in the dining room. From the sleek metallic kitchen (stocked with an entire drawer dedicated to tea and coffee) to the living room’s chic desk space and the luminous bedroom, there’s a feeling of both comfort and extraordinary style in equal, stunning measure. Our favourite feature, without a doubt, is the private leafy terrace. As it’s heated, you can spend peaceful mornings here with a good book and a cup of coffee or evening drinks as the sun sets, at any time of year. While we wouldn’t blame you for wanting to stay holed up in your arty haven, go out and explore the nearby sights – of which there are many. Explore the trendy Marais district with its vintage shops and cute cafes (a twenty-minute walk), enjoy a picnic in elegant Place des Vosges (a thirteen-minute walk) or discover the quiet beauty of Père Lachaise Cemetery, a twenty-minute stroll from your door.

At this apartment in the 11th arrondissement, you’re a short car ride from the bistros and bars that line Rue Oberkampf, a quick ride on the metro to the historic Marais neighbourhood and within walking distance of the Opéra Bastille. The home is ideal for any group travelling together, though two guests will sleep in the living area, which would compromise some socialising space. There’s ample storage for longer stays, and the desk means business travellers can set up shop and work remotely.

Music lovers will adore this home's location – it's just a three-minute walk to Opéra Bastille and a minute more to Place de la Bastille. Or take a stroll along the Canal Saint-Martin to Port de l'Arsenal Garden (two minutes on foot). Alternatively, the beautiful Place des Vosges, the oldest planned square in Paris, is a ten-minute walk. Of course, there are plenty of stylish eateries on your doorstep to enjoy too.

Back at this apartment, if you don't fancy eating out, rustle up some salmon en papillote in the sleek kitchen. Then, take in the wonderful views over the Bastille and the Canal Saint-Martin from this home's large balcony – it's the perfect spot for a glass of Champagne. You can admire the vistas from the elegant living room too – we love this light and bright room with its French doors. This place really sings.

We particularly loved how the geometric feature wall adds a touch of playfulness to the space.

The bedrooms follow suit – all cool, calm and collected, with a sense of grounding that makes late starts all the more tempting. When you do decide to arise, put together a tasty breakfast in the sleek kitchen and congregate around the dining table to hash out your sightseeing agenda. 

Begin with a bit of culture – the iconic Place de la Bastille is only a seven-minute walk away. Follow the Seine to the Notre Dame, then pore over masterpieces in the Louvre. When hunger strikes, focus your fork on the Marais district, a twenty-minute walk from your apartment, for bohemian cafes and street food joints.

Located just a few minutes' walk from the River Seine and a short stroll from Notre Dame, it's fair to say this Bastille home puts you in the heart of the city. The mismatched vintage objects and artwork throughout reflect the owners' artistic sensibilities (one is a former photographer) and we were fond of the lived-in vibe of the living spaces. With stairs to the entrance and a winding staircase within the home, it's not ideal for those with limited mobility – that said, the higher position grants lovely views of the local area. And while it's unspectacular, the small terrace lets you slip away for a few minutes to yourself.

There is a desk in the living space for remote workers and a fully equipped kitchen for those who like to flex their culinary skills. Le Marais and the Notre Dame Cathedral are within walking distance if you don’t mind stretching your legs, or the Bastille metro station is nearby if you’d prefer to conserve your energy.

Just across the road from the Seine and a four-minute walk from the historic Place de la Bastille, this chic, modern apartment provides an artsy base from which to explore the city’s most famous sights. Wood floors and contemporary furnishings provide an instantly stylish welcome in the main living space with large windows proffering views of the Bastille. We love the carefully curated design in this room, from the layered pendant lighting above a solid wood table to the blue feature wall and clever mirrored doors that slide back to reveal a sleek kitchenette – ideal for cooking up feasts with fresh produce from Marché Bastille (a six-minute walk). The bedrooms, too, have been styled with a keen eye – we particularly like the master’s Parisian feature wall Factor in the Bluetooth sound system for soirées soundtracked by Edith Piaf, the luxurious rainfall shower and the tub that invites long soaks with a glass of bubbly after a day of sightseeing, and you’re all set for a relaxing time. Speaking of exploring, you’re just a twenty-minute walk from the cool Marais district as well as Notre Dame, a thirty-minute stroll from Père Lachaise Cemetery and a thirty-five-minute walk from the Louvre.

Wonderfully located down a quiet courtyard, this bright and welcoming apartment offers substance and plenty of style. And in such a desirable location, you need a calming city pad to match. Stepping inside, you'll find a renovated home that retains much of its soul and character in the exposed brick and tiled flooring, while the vibrant orange tones and chic furnishings will soon have you feeling relaxed.

Now, let’s start from the top – truly at the top. Your home sits on the seventh floor of a traditional Parisian block, from which the views are simply unmatched. The triple set of windows in the cosy lounge frames the most spectacular scene of rooftops, spires, chimneys, and the Sacré-Cœur in the distance.

If you manage to drag yourself away from the windowsill, the rest of the apartment is another delightful sight. Modern, quirky, and colourful, we love the selection of framed artworks adorning the walls, with a jazzy geometric rug on the floor. There’s a certain airy and fresh atmosphere with white walls and understated furniture, which in our eyes is perfect for one thing – ensuring that the awe-inspiring sunsets over the city are the main event.

A modern and functional home in a hip neighbourhood – you'll be close to Place de la Bastille and the main sights of Paris. Decorated in a fresh, contemporary look, each bedroom is airy and well sized. There is air conditioning throughout and plenty of entertainment options, with TVs in both bedrooms. Perfectly equipped to comfortably accommodate a group of four, it may also work for larger groups looking for more of a base than a home from home.

In the Bastille neighbourhood of Paris, this duplex provides a chic and elegant place to call home. Place de la Bastille is a fifteen-minute walk away and the nearest metro station is five minutes away at Ledru Rollin, whisking you to sights like The Louvre and Notre Dame in around fifteen minutes. Entering the apartment you instantly feel a sense of creativity and style. Striking sculptures stand proud in the living room and splashes of modern art worthy of a place in the Louvre liven up white walls. Big French windows fill the room with light and a bookcase stuffed with paperbacks and curios from around the world adds a homely touch. The kitchen is tucked away, and there’s a vaguely pastoral feeling to the green and honey walls.
