Built in the late 19th century as a Parisian bolthole for a French aristocratic family, this plush apartment combines old-world opulence with modern sophistication. We loved the expertly restored original features – namely the solid wood floors and wall mouldings – as well as the nods to Rococo interior design, exemplified by the bedframes and glass chandeliers. Arise in elegant bedrooms and breakfast at the jewel-toned dining set before ticking off the must-visits on your itinerary. Culture buffs should make a beeline for the Louvre or Pompidou Centre – you’re a fifteen-minute walk from both. Take a leisurely twenty-five-minute stroll south to the Notre Dame or hop on the metro at Bonne Nouvelle and arrive at the unmistakable Eiffel Tower in just over thirty minutes.

Rustic yet regal, this is the kind of pied a terre that only Paris can pull off. On the banks of the Seine, it’s just across the river from Île de la Cité with Notre Dame in one direction (a fifteen-minute walk away) and The Louvre in the other (a ten-minute walk). Despite its city-centre location, the decor is distinctly provincial with wood-beamed ceilings painted sunflower yellow and hand-cut tiles in the bathroom from the south of France. A mural depicting medieval France sits behind the country-style dining table and the walls are adorned with equine paintings. In the buzzing heart of Paris, this place is a little slice of provincial life and a soothing place to return to after a day of sightseeing.

Locally, you can walk to the iconic Louvre Museum in less than ten minutes – just don’t forget to stop for some authentic cuisine at one of the many local eateries en route.

Although the location is great, we’ll start with the apartment itself – you can see why with views like this. The vistas from the balcony over the Eiffel Tower, River Seine and the Quai des Orfèvres are fantastic. The open-plan living room and main bedroom have a wonderful outlook too. Now about the location – the home is situated on the exclusive Île de la Cité, so there are plenty of riverside strolls to be had. The nearby iconic Notre-Dame de Paris is also a short walk away, while across the Pont Neuf, you’ll find the Louvre Museum.

Parisian boltholes don’t get more central than this 1st Arrondissement apartment. Located just a four-minute walk to the Louvre Museum and the Tuileries Garden, and with countless cafes and bistros even closer, the best of Paris is at your feet. Need to travel further across the city? Châtelet les Halles Metro is just a five-minute walk, or let the apartment’s Concierge organise your transport. Back home, you can’t fault the light-filled interiors, and the original beams are a delight. Although it’s worth noting that if three of you share, the last guest will sleep on a sofa bed in the lounge. But for a home with such an impressive location, we can overlook that.

It's easy to see why we love this apartment. First, the location is incredible. You're smack-dab in artsy Saint-Germain-des-Prés, one of Paris' most emblematic neighbourhoods. Although we could spend all day discovering the boutiques and eateries here, it's extremely well-connected to the rest of the city if you'd like to venture further afield. Secondly, the apartment itself is a real gem. The design combines traditional features with all the modern conveniences you'll need. Space can be a little tight with the sofa bed in use, but there's plenty of room in the main suite and the second bathroom is a nice bonus. If you're after a quintessentially Parisian experience, this is it.

Paris’ 1st arrondissement isn’t number one for just any old reason. Home to the Louvre/Palais-Royal neighbourhood, this is a historically lavish part of the city where you'll find some of the biggest attractions. A four-minute walk from the Palais du Louvre itself, this apartment certainly continues on a majestic theme. Through a courtyard full of lush plants, the entrance to this building has the famous cream-coloured walls of Parisian homes that you’d expect. However, the interiors tell another story. A rich orange sofa welcomes you to the modern living space – with exposed brickwork, a glossy tiled breakfast bar, and a full-length glass partition wall to break up the bedrooms. While frosted windows save your modesty, there’s nothing modest about the decor of the rooms. Find striking floral feature walls, jazzy cushions, gilded mirror frames, and a freestanding tub in one of the en-suites – it’s bourgeois-bohemian at its best. Take a crisp, morning walk to the Jardin des Tuileries after your café au lait (it’s only ten minutes from home). The Louvre–Rivoli metro is just a two-minute walk, so you can also head out to discover any areas of Paris. You might find it hard to leave your surrounding area though – with boulangeries, restaurants, and bars aplenty, you can dine out or feast like a king in your sumptuous apartment.

Compact and central, what this apartment lacks in size, it makes up for in location. You'll find it in Les Halles, just a stone's throw from the Louvre. This is a perfect spot to explore on foot – shops, restaurants, bars, and landmarks are all just a short walk away. The style back home is smart and contemporary, though the whole place is pretty tiny. It's on the second floor, so you'll need to climb stairs, but we think it's worth it for such a convenient location.

What a treat this home is. Set in one of our favourite parts of the city, just on the banks of the river, it's tucked away in such a peaceful little courtyard you may find it hard to comprehend you're in the centre of Paris. This ground-floor apartment has been refurbished recently and mixes period features like high ceilings with modern minimalism, a sleek white kitchen and a touch of industrial styling. Comfortable, bright and surprisingly private, it's a real retreat away from the bustling city streets.

Step outside each morning and grab a coffee and croissant as you stroll along the Seine – it's just a six-minute walk to take in the impressive view of Notre Dame, currently being restored. Close to the buzzing Latin Quarter, there's no shortage of great places to eat, drink and shop, and most of the city's big attractions are within walking distance.

This home is a great place to stay if you want to be close to many of the City of Light’s cultural treasures.

If that's not more than you bargained for, then get a load of the stunning interiors adorning every last square inch of the apartment. From the glass-roofed lounge inviting in tons of natural light to the marble dining room table that accommodates up to nine guests. We particularly love the free-standing bubble baths featured in some of the bedrooms – you'll feel like royalty as you soak the day away with a glass of French wine in hand.

Experience real Parisian life in this fifth-floor apartment, steps from the lively Rue Montorgueil. Though it's not the biggest and the building lacks a lift, we think it works well for couples or solo travellers. There's also a balcony where you can perch with a glass of wine and watch the hustle and bustle below. That said, the biggest highlight is the location. You're in the heart of Paris here, with charming cafes, trendy bistros, and artisan shops on your doorstep. All the landmarks can easily be reached via the metro or on foot, making this an ideal spot for sightseeing.

Montorgueil Classique

This apartment is located in the heart of Paris, close to some of the city's best shopping, dining, and cultural attractions. The Louvre and Pompidou Centre are both a short stroll away, while the Palais Royal is also within walking distance of this luxurious apartment. With the character features you’d expect from a Haussmann-style home, the open-plan living space is an elegant place to relax. This room also sleeps guests three and four on a sofa bed. Your hosts can also organise services like housekeeping and a private chef – there are all the ingredients here for an exceptional stay.

The home sits in between the neighbourhoods of Palais Royal and Le Maris, and it takes around ten minutes on foot to visit either the Louvre or Centre Pompidou — depending on what sort of head space you woke up in.

We fell head over heels for this charming home before even stepping foot over the threshold. Why? You really couldn't be better placed. Just a two-minute walk from Paris' most loved art gallery: the Louvre Museum. While you're only six minutes (on foot) to the Palais Royal and a short eleven-minute stroll to Tuileries Gardens. Although the street below is fairly busy and lively, this apartment is a pocket of calm and the perfect spot to relax. We really loved the authenticity of the home – from the wooden flooring, exposed beam ceiling and elegant Parisian windows – the apartment keeps true to its roots. Enjoy your coffee and croissants around the vintage wooden dining table for two or simply spend lazy mornings sat in the sunshine with a good book. Light pours into the living space making a fresh and airy spot to unwind on the comfy sofas after an afternoon exploring the city.

This apartment welcomes you to a calm sanctuary in the heart of the city. Located in a traditional Haussmann building, the rooms perfectly embody classic Parisian style. You will also find plenty of socialising space across the living and dining room, while the bedrooms bring ease and comfort to daily living. Housekeeping is included in your stay and there is a concierge on hand to organise extras like private chefs and grocery deliveries. There is no private parking here, but you will find shops, galleries and restaurants all within easy walking distance.

Now, this is how you do Parisian city living, folks. Exquisitely designed throughout, the designers have taken the best of Haussmann architecture (would you just look at those wrought-iron Juliet balcony windows) while bringing the rest of the home elegantly into the 21st Century. 

Natural light bounces off the sublime parquet wooden flooring (heated to keep things toasty in winter). Décor wizardry ramps up the luxe factor – we love the soft bronze details and wood panelling. And the soundproof windows and bedroom facing into a quiet internal courtyard keep everything subdued when it's time to bank some sleep.

Once you're done lusting over the interiors, fling the balcony doors wide and take a peek outside because the Seine riverbanks are just two minutes away. How's that for a location? 

If you're in the mood for a spot of sightseeing, the city's must-sees are all close by. Call in on Mona Lisa at the Louvre Museum (nine minutes on foot). Hop over the Pont au Change to soak up Sainte-Chapelle's splendour (five minutes on foot). Or just follow the cool cats down to Marais (five minutes on foot), you'll be in good company.

What this studio apartment lacks in space, it makes up for in style. Wooden beams on the ceilings, exposed stone walls, a curvy red headboard – the design doesn't play it safe. The kitchen is small, sure, but it's well-appointed to rustle up something easy. Even better, you'll find an array of top-notch eateries on your doorstep. Also nearby are landmarks like Notre Dame and the Louvre, independent shops like Shakespeare & Company, and a metro station for adventures further afield.

With Notre Dame in one direction and the Louvre in the other, you won't find a location in Paris better than this. Housed in a listed building dating back to 1860, the apartment's original features are impressive, though as you'd expect with a home of this heritage, there are a few quirks. Two bedrooms are adjoined with a glass door partition – great for a small family sharing, but it won't suit everyone. It's also worth noting the last two guests will be sleeping on a sofa bed in the lounge. But we're happy to let that slide for such a stylish, elegant home with a knockout location.

Situated on the Quai des Grands Augustins, opposite the Île de la Cité, you’ll be a short stroll from the Notre Dame Cathedral when you stay at this architect-designed apartment. The Sainte Chapelle is also a short distance away, along with plenty of cafes and restaurants. The home itself is elegantly decorated and the open-plan living space sleeps two guests at full capacity and both bedrooms have marble en-suites. This place is a perfect option for a vacation with family or friends.

Elegant and oh-so-stylish, this is a perfect Parisian base. It’s a hop, skip, and a jump from Jardin des Tuileries, and a few minutes from the Louvre, Opéra, and the Seine – you couldn’t ask for a better location. When you’re not out exploring Paris, you’ll love having such a luxurious place to call home. You'll likely spend most of your time in the open-plan living and dining space, which leads to a wraparound balcony – where better to enjoy your morning coffee? This space is where two guests will sleep on sofa beds – you might have a fight on your hands if you're vying for the main bedroom and its dreamy en-suite.
