It’s a charming home-from-home – you can look forward to exposed stone walls and wooden beams combined with a designer sofa and a silk Persian rug. Housed in a beautiful 19th-century stone building in Paris’ vibrant Marais district, this wonderfully bright apartment is brimming with style thanks to its charming retro look. Kitted out in vintage decor mainly from the 40s and 50s, there’s a cool sophisticated vibe here that feels perfectly Parisian. Kick back on the mid-century-modern armchair with one of the architectural books from the shelves or enjoy an espresso – made with the kitchen’s machine – and locally bought croissants at the chic dining table. We recommend enjoying a glass of French wine by the Juliet balcony, however, and basking in the glorious sixth-floor views over the city’s rooftops at sunset. The bedroom, meanwhile, is elegantly pared back with a comfortable bed (as well as a choice between two types of pillows) as well as stunning views over Saint-Paul Saint-Louis Church in the distance. Factor in the deliciously pink tiled bathroom with its sunken tub – ideal for finishing the night off with a glass of bubbly after an afternoon of walking – and you’re all set for a relaxing stay. Outside of your home, the Marais’ colourful streets beckon with their trendy shops and cosy cafés, elegant ​​Place des Vosges is a three-minute walk and Notre Dame is twenty minutes away on foot.

Rustic beams, parquet flooring and exposed stone structures remind us of the rich history of this home and provide it with old-world charm. Given its super central location, the apartment boasts optimal space for a small family to enjoy without feeling too cramped, which is often the case in old Parisian apartment buildings. In Bas Marais, just a two-minute walk from the Saint-Paul metro station, welcome to the neighbourhood of Notre Dame and Le Village Saint-Paul. From baroque churches and antique stores, to boutique shopping and hip restaurants, this is a delightfully diverse area of the 3rd arrondissement. Through a grand, art deco-style doorway on a quiet street, this flat has every typical Parisian element you might come to expect. The wrought-iron balcony of the French windows, the elegance of the original fireplace, and the writer’s desk in the bedroom. The huge open-plan living area is bright and breezy, with understated decor which has a certain old-world charm. But you can stroll nine minutes to the Centre Pompidou if you’re looking for a contrast to your historic surroundings. This inside-out design building is certainly different from the grandeur of Notre Dame, just twelve minutes away. Continue on with some non-traditional art at the Musée Picasso, only eight minutes from your front door. Take the long way home, through the winding streets of creative Le Marais, to stop in at a few cocktail bars en route. With its rich, cultural history, we reckon it's the best area for inspiration to get started on that novel at the writer’s desk when you get back.

From the velvet sofa to the canopy bed, there's a real sense of heritage here that we fell in love with at first sight. Outside, you have two roomy terraces to choose from (one for breakfasts, another for evening cocktails as the sunsets over the rooftops), and there's even a working fireplace for those chilly winter nights. But there's plenty of modern conveniences too, including skylights, a maid service, speakers in every room and a luxe master bathroom with gold finishes. Situated on the Île Saint-Louis – an island in the heart of the Seine considered one of Paris' most desirable postcodes – you're just an eight-minute walk from Notre Dame Cathedral. Utterly romantic and endlessly charming, it's not uncommon to hear accordion music drifting down the streets lined with shops, cafes, restaurants and crêperies. You couldn't hope for a more authentic spot to experience the magic of Paris.

We love the exposed ceiling beams and the floating stairs that lead up to the mezzanine bedroom. Cocooned within a wrought-iron frame, this comfortable space feels rustic and warm in contrast to the contemporary decor of the ground level main room. The bold blue sofa beckons to be relaxed in, while the dining nook invites slow breakfasts over chats about the day ahead’s activities. Speaking of things to do, you couldn’t be better placed to see Paris’ main sights. You’re just a ten-minute walk from Notre-Dame and a fifteen-minute stroll from the Louvre and Place des Vosges. The Centre Pompidou is also just around the corner, three minutes away on foot. A six-minute walk from Saint-Paul metro station, Le Village Saint-Paul certainly lives up to its name. While it’s set in the central 4th arrondissement, there’s a tranquil, village-like feel to this small region – but with a huge personality. From baroque churches to hip restaurants, history and modernity combine to create a unique place, as does this striking duplex apartment.

In a 17th-century townhouse three minutes from the banks of the Seine, your life is about to become a Parisian movie (not just because this building has been used as a filming location). After ascending the grand staircase, your hand gliding up the wrought-iron railings, step into scenes of pure creativity and originality. 

Something between a cottage, apartment, and palace, this home really knows how to impress. We were immediately struck by the rustic timber beams, to match glossy wooden floors and a charmingly creaky spiral staircase. Shelves upon shelves of the host’s books line the walls, while vintage motorbikes sit alongside. And to add glamour to this eclectic mix, a glistening chandelier sparkles above. As you head to the second floor, the country-like feel of this village comes to life through distressed furniture, more huge beams, and cosy bedrooms in the eaves. Bohemian Paris at its finest.

With local bakeries, artisan shops, and delicious restaurants nearby, you'll be feasting on French classics in no time – especially handy as this home's kitchen is compact. Even better, you'll have easy access to landmarks and museums, whether you plan to explore on foot or hop on the nearby metro. Located on the third floor, the apartment is only accessible by stairs. However, the split-level layout means you'll have plenty of space to spread out and the design is chic and simple. The bedroom upstairs is cosy and comfortable, while the living area has a sofa bed for guests three and four.

The Saint-Paul metro stop is a two-minute walk from the front door, so you can easily explore further afield. When you return, dine in one of the many restaurants nearby before heading up to the peaceful apartment on the fifth floor – you’ll rest easy here.

Your host has a selection of books to choose from, and the kitchen is well-suited to rustling up meals using produce from the local market. There may not be a lift to the fourth floor, but factor in the proximity to a metro station (a three-minute walk) and it's no surprise that this gem caught our eye.

Traditional features such as double height windows, an intricate fireplace and an impressive mezzanine balustrade have been complemented with contemporary furniture to create and old-meets-new style. With a convenient centre-of-the-action location and interiors to please the most fussy aesthete, this home would benefit a couple with a savvy sense of style.

Located in Le Marais, an area that pulses with life amongst cafes, museums and shops, sits this idyllic apartment. The home is nestled at the back of a majestic courtyard within a historical building designed in 1619 where time seems to have stopped. Although the kitchen is on the small side, this cosy space is perfectly suited to a couple who seek to immerse themselves into the splendour of a former era.

Rehash the day's adventures over a bottle of wine around the dining table, then, when you're ready to drift off, climb into the comfortable bed and wake up the next day feeling fresh and excited. The apartment's excellent Le Marais location is ideal for exploring this iconic neighbourhood on foot, and it's just by one of our favourite squares in Paris – Place des Vosges – and right around the corner from the Picasso Museum. Given its buzzing locale and fresh looks, this pad would suit a couple with a youthful soul, looking to explore the thriving food scene and nightlife of this very happening quarter of central Paris.

It has everything you need for a relaxed stay – a laptop-friendly workspace ideal for business travellers, a sleek kitchen with all the essentials, and a cosy lounge perfect for unwinding. A curtain separates the living room and bedroom, but there's ample space for a couple to get comfortable – and since the windows overlook the building's courtyard, it's relatively quiet, too. Location-wise, you can't beat Le Marais. Restaurants and designer boutiques are just a few steps away, while the must-see Parisian landmarks are within easy reach via the metro.

A picture-perfect location, this one-bedroom apartment over two floors is situated on Paris' coveted Île Saint Louis in a 16th-century building.  Suited to a couple after a quiet home in a central location, Île Saint Louis is a village in the capital with quaint bistros and cafés, grocers and niche art galleries - and there are no buses or tube stations. Just below the apartment is a delicious bakery that could come in handy for fresh croissants - be sure to enjoy them on the rooftop terrace overlooking Parisian rooftops and Notre Dame's bell tower.

This rather magical home offers cosy spaces for a family or group looking to stay in in the heart of the Marais – a central and exclusive location. The streets surrounding you, known as Paris’ artsiest neighbourhood, are home to traditional bakeries serving freshly-baked pain au chocolat, bistros like scenes from a romance movie and chi chi little boutiques and shops. That’s not to mention the niche art galleries and the fact that Notre Dame is a fifteen-minute walk away.

Double height ceilings mean this place feels spacious inside, and the exposed masonry and rustic beams give an old-world, Provincial feel.  For those travelling with kids or teenagers, the basement playroom with table tennis, is sure to keep them entertained. A kitchen tucked beneath the mezzanine bedroom makes the most of the living space, and is equipped with everything you need for self-catering, that’s if you’re not too busy exploring every bijou bakery and bistro on your doorstep.

You can hop on the metro at Sully-Morland, a two-minute walk away, and hop between the main city sights. The master bedroom, however is the pearl. On the ceiling you'll find a beautiful fresco depicting angels in heaven – a sheer delight to admire as you drift off to sleep. When you're done dreaming, there is plenty to see around Le Marais, from galleries to boutiques, and with Sully-Morland Metro station just a few minutes walk away the rest of Paris is within easy reach too.

This apartment, in the heart of the Marais, is bright, quiet and comfortable – it’s exactly what you need from a place that’s within easy reach of Paris’ central sights. You’ll notice a restrained approach to the interior design; a stylish Scandi dining set provides a modern contrast to the intricate moulding details, a hint of the home’s grand past. Make like a local and idly sip your morning espresso by the enormous windows or recline on the couch with a dog-eared paperback. Munch on croissants with fresh fig jam, put together in your tidy kitchen or seek out a local café for a traditional Parisian breakfast. Equipped with a modern kitchen and smart dining area, it's a practical home for a couple also looking to spend a little time at home. Admittedly, the aesthetic is a little simple and the amenities list not as extensive as some of our other homes, but with such a great location, Durance provides good value as well as fresh and modern spaces.

This apartment is a short walk from the heart of Le Marais, one of Paris's most sought-after neighbourhoods. You’ll be able to stroll over to the Musée National Picasso-Paris, the National Archives Museum and the Centre Pompidou. If you prefer to explore by bike, there’s a convenient bicycle hire service available nearby, too. The bright living room, back at this apartment, sleeps guests five and six on a sofa bed. Crittall-style doors lead from this room to one of the bedrooms (there’s no window here, so it borrows light from the living space). The other bedroom has French doors opening to a Juliet balcony, and both have en-suites. This is the perfect place to experience a stylish Parisian getaway.

Modern and bright, it has everything you'll need for a Parisian getaway – a glossy kitchen well-stocked with culinary gear, a luxe bathroom with a rainfall shower and a sumptuous bed that feels like heaven after a busy day exploring the city. But the real surprise here is the vast terrace filled with potted plants and blooming flowers. It's almost as big as the lounge, and outdoor space this size is pretty rare in Paris. In the mornings, head out there with breakfast, nibbling on croissants in the sunshine. When night falls, it's the perfect spot to sip cocktails or French wine before bedtime.
