It’s a sought-after residential neighbourhood known for its Haussmannian architecture. Nearby you’ll find the Bois de Boulogne and the historic Château de la Muette – the area has great transport links to the rest of Paris too. This studio apartment is located in the neighbourhood of Auteuil, sandwiched between the River Seine and the Bois de Boulogne. It may be compact, but there’s a comfortable sofa for relaxing on after a busy day seeing the sights and you can throw open the door to the small balcony to maximise the space. While the kitchen is ideal for preparing snacks and light bites, it doesn’t have an oven – the perfect excuse for heading to one of the local restaurants for a Boeuf Bourguignon.

It’s a duplex in a great location, just a short walk from Place du Trocadéro, with great transport links right on the doorstep. There’s a balcony that boasts views over the rooftops of Paris from the top-floor vantage point. We love how much space there is here, and how convenient a base it is – there are desks for those working during their stay, among other amenities to ensure your stay is a comfortable one. Some of the decor is a touch dated, but we think the layout and location of this home make it an excellent choice.

Though it’s not the most modern apartment, it’s a comfortable base for a family. It's worth noting that access to the bathroom is via the main bedroom. Two guests will sleep on a sofa bed in the living and dining room, which features vintage armchairs, a Persian rug, and, best of all, sliding doors to the private garden.

This home seduced us straight away with its fabulous views across the Seine to the Eiffel Tower and Statue de la Liberté from its balcony. Select a bottle of Champagne from the wine fridge and enjoy a glass as the sun sets and admire one of the city's most famous sights. The open-plan living room is flooded with light and has a wonderful airy feel thanks to its double-height ceilings. There are plenty of books here to keep you occupied, and there's an office area too. An ornate staircase leads to a mezzanine balcony and the gorgeous bedroom, which overlooks the courtyard. Have a luxurious soak in the bathtub in the ensuite before heading out for dinner. There are plenty of stylish restaurants on your doorstep in this upscale neighbourhood, or pick up some local delicacies from Point du Jour Market, a twenty-minute saunter. There are also an array of boutiques near the church in Auteuil, while there's a shopping centre in Beaugrenelle, just under fifteen minutes walking distance. The striking headquarters of Radio France, Maison de la Radio (nicknamed "maison ronde"), is ten minutes on foot, while the Eiffel Tower is a twenty-five-minute walk if you want to get up and close to this much-loved attraction. Or go for a romantic stroll along the Seine, it's less than 50 metres away.

Located in the heart of the 16th arrondissement, this home is in a quiet, residential spot. But that doesn’t mean a long trek to Paris’s must-see landmarks – the Arc de Triomphe, the Eiffel Tower, and the Trocadéro are all within walking distance. While the home sleeps four, at full occupancy guests two and three will be sleeping on the sofa bed in the living area – this set-up won’t suit everyone as the only bathroom is accessed via the only bedroom (although there is a separate WC). A big bonus here is the private garden – a rare find in the capital – which is perfect for an alfresco meal after a busy day exploring the city.

The nearest metro is just a three-minute walk away, connecting you to central Paris and all its landmarks.

Ivory Orchids

This Boulogne-Billancourt apartment is a little oasis in the 16th arrondissement. It’s a little on the periphery but within easy reach of Bois de Boulogne, Fondation Louis Vuitton and the Eiffel Tower. Plus, Exelmans metro station (a few steps away) makes venturing out and about effortless. The balcony is the highlight here and just the spot for morning coffees or evening glasses of wine – even if you do need to climb the stairs to reach this apartment. The space overall is fairly simple but perfectly practical for a laid-back stay.
