With a truly enviable location on the Pyrénées-Atlantiques overlooking the endless blue of the Atlantic Ocean, this 1930s-style villa was made for lazy summer afternoons.

There are a plethora of spots to sit and soak up the sunshine, whether that's surveying the surroundings from the balcony, tucking into dinner on the terrace or reading in the peaceful gardens. If this all sounds a little too inactive, you're more than welcome to notch up a couple of lengths in the swimming pool or hone your forehand on the tennis court.

The interior feels bright and cooling thanks to the white walls, tiled flooring and French doors. An extensive collection of colourful artwork is sure to catch the eye, although it must be said that sports fans will much prefer the foosball table.

When it comes to beaches, both Grand Plage and Plage d'Erromardie sit only twenty minutes' walk from the home, while the portside restaurants and market of St Jean de Luz take slightly longer. The resort town of Biarritz is just a half-hour drive away, too.

When you've had your fill of the sand and sun, come home to this bright apartment and crack open a bottle of France's finest wine on the terrace. It's the perfect spot to watch the evening draw to a close, savouring a home-cooked meal in the fresh air and enjoying each other's company. In this surfer's paradise, their tastes are well-catered for – you're far more likely to grab something healthy than anything with chips in the nearby eateries. We think the home is better suited to a family or firm friends, given any nighttime trips to the bathroom involve using the only bedroom's ensuite. And with free parking available, you're not only confined to the local beaches – drive to the forest at Landes, or the nearby city of Bordeaux.

It’s worth noting there is no private parking here, but free street parking is available nearby and there are great public transport links. You can take the bus or walk to La Concha Beach (less than 2 kilometres away), and the Monte Igueldo funicular is also within easy reach.

This San Sebastián apartment absolutely nails it when it comes to location. The sandy Zurriola Beach is a five-minute stroll away (perfect for surfing), while Old Town is walkable in ten – if that's not central, we don't know what it is. When you're not out and about, the contemporary living space has relaxation written all over it. Two single bedrooms make it an ideal option for families. The cherry on top is a private balcony. There's only room for two to sit comfortably, but it's the perfect spot to enjoy a glass of sangria as the sun goes down.

You'll find this modern apartment in San Sebastián's lively Gros neighbourhood. It's the perfect location if sightseeing, sunbathing, and swimming in the sea are on your to-do list. Zurriola Beach is a five-minute stroll away, while the historic Old Town is walkable in ten. Back home, you can unwind after your adventures in style. We love the mix of stone and pine, which gives the otherwise contemporary-cool design some rustic flair. Our favourite feature is the en-suite bathroom, with a pink tub and rainfall shower ideal for long, luxurious soaks.
