Here you'll find yourself close to the Cours de la Liberté with its many restaurants and shops, and you'll have only to cross the Wilson bridge to be on the peninsula itself. Spend days perusing local shops, markets, museums, and galleries, before returning to the cosy comfort and effortless style of your home away from home. Freshen up in the sleek bathroom before venturing out again to make the most of Lyon's vibrant foodie scene, or prepare something homemade in that well-equipped kitchen over a glass or two of wine.

Blue may be the colour but it certainly doesn't describe the feeling in this cheerful little home in Lyon's 7th arrondissement. An intimate space for a couple or a solo traveller, it's set in a typical period building with rooftop views all the way to some of the city's most iconic sights. It's not huge, but it's a well-designed home with character and charm. We love the typical French Juliet balconies to either side of the living room and in the bedroom – perfect for opening the whole place up for some fresh air in the summer. There are some quirky touches in the bedroom, with green palm trees breaking up the blue. And the bathroom (you guessed, it's blue) is modern and luxurious. Step outside and you're right in the city's most commercial district, with bars, shops and restaurants all around. Particularly well-placed if you feel like exploring by bike, it's close to the Rhône and its quays.

Head out the door and you'll find the main shopping district of Lyon, and it couldn't get more convenient, with a mini-market in front of the apartment. There are easy public transport links and it's just steps from the Lumière Museum, in the former home of the inventors of cinema.

Located in Lyon’s bohemian Croix-Rousse neighbourhood – known for its houses that were former workshops – this beautiful apartment sits with the best of them, offering nothing but style and comfort. 

We love how the building’s history has been incorporated into its up-to-date design, with exposed brick walls, beamed ceilings and tiled floors lending a rustic yet elegant atelier feel to the proceedings. Huge windows allow plenty of light to pour in and bounce around the open-plan living area with its double-height ceilings, creating a bright and sociable space you’ll relish relaxing in. Make yourself at home on the plump sofa with a glass of wine or gather around the dining table for a French feast when you’re not out sampling the local restaurants. The three bedrooms, meanwhile, are pared-back spaces curated with rest and relaxation in mind, and we’re particularly fond of the main bedroom with its glass walls looking out over the living area below. With a desk space on hand too should you need to catch up on work, you’re all set for a carefree time whether you’re visiting for business or pleasure. 

Outside of your home, Croix-Rousse’s maze of leafy squares waits to be discovered, as does the area’s history of silk weaving best seen at the Mur des Canuts and the Maison des Canuts museum. Fresh produce is sold at the daily market on Boulevard de la Croix Rousse, and you’ll find trendy crowds delighting in gourmet patisseries, hip wine bars and art galleries all around your neighbourhood too.

Art enthusiasts will feel right at home here. The likes of Banksy have been emulated by a talented artist, Nicolas Perrot, who also decorated the walls with originals of his own. Exuding youthfulness and creativity, this is a great choice for a group of friends looking to explore Lyon. Whether you're an art lover or not, the vibrant space is a fantastic place to stay. Not only is it an architectural masterclass, but it's also conveniently located in the heart of the city, steps away from the banks of the River Rhône. 

The old building has been converted into a contemporary design dream, giving the place an industrial-chic vibe that suits a modern preference. While it is aesthetically pleasing, it's still very liveable with each bedroom boasting a queen size bed, a sociable living space, and a huge kitchen, perfect for whipping up group meals and sharing a bottle of wine.

When it's time to head out, exploring Lyon comes easy here. In the 1st Arrondissement, close to the prestigious Lyon Museum of Fine Arts, you're in one of the liveliest parts of the city. Reaching the rest of the city is a breeze – you're just 100 metres away from the Hôtel de Ville metro stop. Come the evening, group dinners and drinks are perfectly enjoyable in your apartment, or you can head out to discover the famous gastronomical scene of Lyon. Afterwards, hit Rue St.Catherine for hip bars and clubs.

Take a twenty-minute walk toward the river and enjoy a stroll along the banks of the Rhône, or hop on the metro and visit the renaissance district of The Vieux Lyon, only seventeen minutes away.

There's something effusively cool about this apartment in Villeurbanne, with a hint of art deco meets mid-century modern. We can't get enough of the details, from the extravagant lampshades to the vibrant walls, everything here feels like a work of art. Not only is it aesthetically beautiful, but it's also within easy reach of Lyon's centre. 

Although this apartment looks artistic, it's still very liveable and homely. And when everything looks this good, even the most simple daily acts feel special. When you're energised and ready to see the city, walk the short five minutes to the Charpennes subway station and hop on to get to Lyon Part Dieu. From there, the city is yours – the Roman Amphithéâtre des Trois Gaules, La Basilique Notre Dame de Fourvière, the Musée des Confluences, and so much more. Even just a walk around the Old Town will captivative you with its Renaissance buildings and terracotta hues. 

After a day of exploring, relax on your sofa with the warm-toned light setting a calming ambience, before getting ready for dinner. Your kitchen is well equipped for whipping up dinner, to be enjoyed around the chic bistro-style table. Or, head out to sample the delicious local food scene.
