The second upper floor includes a spacious living room with an open-hearth fireplace, dining table, and TV, along with an open kitchen equipped with all necessary amenities. The Scandinavian-style dining table is big enough for the whole group to gather for a post-slope hot drink and pristine, grey sofas are laden with faux fur cushions for that hygge feel. From the open-plan living area, glass double doors open up to the wooden balcony, letting the sunlight stream in during the day. Bedrooms continue the pine wood motif, creating cosy sleeping nooks for a good night’s rest before hitting the mountains on foot or by ski.   

From the balcony, you can spot the slopes snaking down the mountainside, awaiting keen skiers. This place is in Courchevel Moriond (formerly known as Courchevel 1650). It’s a friendly village ski resort with slopes for intermediate skiers, and a wider selection of ski runs can be found throughout the Three Valleys, within driving distance.

Nestled five kilometres from La Giettaz, this home is nestled in its own secluded piece of paradise. The drive to reach the chalet may not be the easiest, and snow tyres and chains, as well as a 4x4 vehicle, are a must, but it’s worth the effort. Surrounded by nature, this is somewhere you can truly switch off – and, step inside, and you’re met with a contemporary yet homely space. When you’re ready to hit the slopes, experienced skiers can ski straight from the chalet via a blue slope – otherwise, it’s a mere 1.5 kilometres to the lifts at Le Plan.

There's no doubt that the scenery is the star of the show at this chalet. From the snow-dusted peaks to the lush green valleys, the views rival any postcard – and they're best enjoyed from the panoramic terrace and private hot tub. Inside, we love the mix of modern and traditional. Drop off your ski gear in the downstairs storage area, then gather around the suspended fireplace to warm up your toes. With a bunk bed ideal for kids and four other comfortable bedrooms, it's a great option for families. Location-wise, La Giettaz and La Clusaz are within easy driving distance, and the ski bus stop is 300 metres away.

Bedrooms feature sets of twins, meaning that groups don't have to do a coin toss over who is sharing. We may have said it before, but it bears repeating – the home's location is unbeatable. Newbies will be just metres from ski schools, while the more advanced can jump on a nearby lift and explore the Three Valleys.

Originally built as a priory in the eleventh century, this medieval chateau gives you an opportunity to holiday like a member of the French nobility. All of that skiing is bound to work up an appetite, so it’s a good thing the apartment is steps away from the restaurants and bars of Alpe d’Huez. If you’d like to explore more of the French Alps, a great local team of travel assistants can make sure you make the most out of your stay.
