This stylish little studio apartment is right in the heart of historic Annecy. From your doorstep, you can step out into streets lined with wooden-shuttered buildings, where cafés spill out onto the pavement. An alpine town, Annecy is flanked by snow-capped mountains and perhaps the most picturesque spot is the stone Palais in the centre of the Le Thiou River – the view of which is best enjoyed from the riverside restaurants and gelaterias, a five-minute walk from this apartment. Although it’s a studio, the apartment itself feels spacious and it has plenty of character courtesy of the exposed brick wall and hardwood floor. A wall of windows lets in plenty of sunshine during the day and a room divider separates the living and bedroom area from the dine-in kitchen. There’s even a stylish, Scandinavian-esque desk if you want to work remotely. If you want to get around the compact town of Annecy in a flash, your host provides complimentary bikes for sightseeing. 

Alpine Brickwork

Boasting breath-taking views of the snow-capped Alps, this cosy, chalet-style apartment is what mountain escapes are all about. You’re within easy reach of the slopes here, but with so many on-site amenities at your fingertips, we wouldn’t blame you if you wanted to stay in. Go for a dip in the heated pool, keep cosy with a session in the communal sauna, or simply sit back and relax in the downstairs lounge. Then, when it’s time to eat, head back upstairs to your rustic home from home, where you’ll find everything you need to whip up a hearty, evening meal. Delish. 

If you do fancy getting out and about, you’ll be pleased to hear that you’re perfectly placed for exploring all that Alpe d’Huez has to offer. Grab your equipment from the ski room and set off for the slopes or settle in at one of the local bars and treat yourself to glass or two of warming mulled wine. And, if you fancy soaking up more of the gorgeous scenery, there’s a Ferris wheel nearby offering spectacular views of the surrounding mountains. What more could you ask for? 

Conifer Tree Breeze

Just a short stroll from the shores of Lake Annecy, this home opens its doors to a rustic retreat. The garden has everything you could need to enjoy blissful days at home thanks to the jacuzzi and the terrace with a barbecue. There’s also plenty to keep everyone entertained with a games room, a handful of bicycles and a range of family-friendly amenities. Plus, private parking is available and it’s just a short drive or bus ride into the heart of Annecy. 


The Moon Lake

There's no doubt that the scenery is the star of the show at this chalet. From the snow-dusted peaks to the lush green valleys, the views rival any postcard – and they're best enjoyed from the panoramic terrace and private hot tub. Inside, we love the mix of modern and traditional. Drop off your ski gear in the downstairs storage area, then gather around the suspended fireplace to warm up your toes. With a bunk bed ideal for kids and four other comfortable bedrooms, it's a great option for families. Location-wise, La Giettaz and La Clusaz are within easy driving distance, and the ski bus stop is 300 metres away.

Winter Rays

Nestled five kilometres from La Giettaz, this home is nestled in its own secluded piece of paradise. The drive to reach the chalet may not be the easiest, and snow tyres and chains, as well as a 4x4 vehicle, are a must, but it’s worth the effort. Surrounded by nature, this is somewhere you can truly switch off – and, step inside, and you’re met with a contemporary yet homely space. When you’re ready to hit the slopes, experienced skiers can ski straight from the chalet via a blue slope – otherwise, it’s a mere 1.5 kilometres to the lifts at Le Plan. 

Mountain Modern

With its modern styling and enviable position right on the slopes, this Huez apartment is an excellent choice for skiing aficionados and outdoorsy types. Inside the home, neutral tones and natural textures blend seamlessly with the rugged surroundings. Start mornings on the balcony, breathing in the fresh alpine air and soaking up the views of the Grandes Rousses massif, before sitting down at the dining table with a typical French breakfast. Recline on the sofa with a hot chocolate or head down to the communal gym for a mood-boosting workout.

Spend afternoons in nature, skiing down the Pic Blanc in the winter months and mountain biking in the summer. Or why not try something a little different and embark on a glacier hike? When you’ve worked up a hunger, take the short walk into the heart of town for a hearty supper in a tasty restaurant.

Massif Moment

We love the views over to Mont-Blanc from the terrace of this home. Inside, the living space has the wow factor and the owners’ love of art, design, and architecture shows in the decoration and furnishings. This place is perfect for family or friends with its cosy fireplace, sauna, TV and games area, and dormitory room that the children will love. There’s also a reading corner and an office space for when you need to catch up on work. Set at the end of a private road on the edge of the forest, this home has a wonderful location. It’s 500 metres from the ski lifts and offers easy access to hiking and bike trails.

Alpine Sojourn

Take a load off and unwind in Megève, surrounded by gorgeous alpine scenery. Boasting a game and cinema room, as well as a well-equipped gym and plentiful ski storage, this home is as practical as it is comfortable. The private spa offers the perfect place to relax after a day hitting the slopes of Mont Blanc – and hit the slopes you shall. There are multiple ski lifts within walking distance, as well as the charming village of Megève right on your doorstep.

Alpine Oasis

If you want to be surrounded by lake and mountain views, look no further. There’s a Nordic-style hot tub on the terrace, large gardens, a kids’ play area and pétanque pitch, as well as a shaded pergola for dining. The accommodation is over three floors, and all of the rooms capitalise on the wonderful vistas. Three bedrooms have access to a balcony, while the spacious fourth on the top floor has a seating and workout area. If you want to do some winter sports, the ski resorts of La Sambuy and Semnoz are just under thirty minutes away. In summer, there's a lakeside beach just 2 kilometres from this home, and the Voie Verte cycle and footpath passes the door.

Blue Mountain Lake

Right in the heart of France's Three Valleys lies Courchevel, one of the most famous ski resorts in the Alps. Powder fresh pistes, miles and miles of ski runs and one of the longest ski seasons in the area will impress those keen to hit the slopes. You'll find this apartment in the village, just a stone's throw from lifts, gourmet restaurants and eateries. As far as locales go, you can't beat it.

When you're not exploring this idyllic corner of the Alps, make yourself comfortable back at home. Ditch your gear in the on-site ski locker, then relax sore muscles with a session in the shared sauna or a yoga lesson. The balcony is actually our favourite spot – the snow-capped mountain view is incredibly hard to resist. Regardless of the weather, we think it's the ideal backdrop for sunset glasses of French wine and steaming mugs of hot chocolate – sounds postcard-perfect to us.

Inside, the chalet-chic design evokes that warm and homey feeling as soon as you step inside – picture wood-clad walls, faux fur throws and a gleaming contemporary kitchen that's a dream for whipping up family feasts. There are catering options available here, too – whether you fancy pre-made breakfasts, Michelin-starred dinners delivered straight to your door or a private chef, you'll be well looked after by your friendly hosts.

Alpine Twilight

If unlimited Champagne doesn’t scream luxury, we’re not entirely sure what will. Set above the central ‘Petit Alaska’, this chalet’s location – tucked away among trees – will not only reconnect you with nature, but also offer privacy to those looking for a bit of seclusion. 

With a beautiful blend of natural wood and stone, this alpine-influenced home has all the homeliness of a log cabin with a touch of luxury. This starts in the ample living space and is carried all the way through to the plush bedrooms and covered terrace with hot tub. 

Start mornings off with a few laps in the indoor pool and breakaway to the sauna to rejuvenate. Enjoy breakfast with a good cup of fresh coffee before getting ready to take on the slopes. 

Spend days on the snow – there is a minivan available to drive you to, and from, the slopes everyday, and come home to the warmth of this incredible chalet. Get together around the dining table – taking note of the striking wall art – to enjoy meals prepared by the private chef before stoking a fire in the living room fireplace and settling down to recap the day's adventures over a cup of cocoa. You can also retire to the movie room if you’d like to watch your favourites together over the course of the stay. 

Just when you think you couldn’t be more spoiled, you can treat yourself to a bubble bath in the freestanding tub.
