This Norman farmhouse has been impeccably renovated to create a private and contemporary oasis. The quaint timbered exterior has been preserved, while the inside is tastefully designed to blend rustic with modern. Exposed brickwork, natural wooden floors and stone walls characterise each room, while the sleek, high-spec kitchen and modern bathroom with ambient lighting add an updated twist. The house is set on 1.7 acres of land, meaning you’ll have plenty of privacy. You're surrounded by beauty here –wander through the pretty landscaped gardens and head down one of the winding paths to admire the bucolic scenery.  

The large heated 14x4m pool means you can enjoy year-round fun, and there’s an outdoor shower to rinse off in before curling up on a deck chair. The kids will have endless fun running around in the gardens, playing ping pong, and making use of the two bikes. On rainy days they can retreat to the games room, where there’s plenty of board games. 

You are well placed to explore all the delights of the Pays d’Auge region – the village of Honfleur is a fifteen-minute drive away, with its picture-perfect harbour and expansive sandy beach. For the daily shop, there’s a small village near the house which is reachable on foot. On Tuesday mornings drive seven minutes to the farmers’ market in Beuzeville, where you can pick up some local produce and enjoy an alfresco lunch back at home.

This chateau in Normandy is bursting with old-world charm. Built by the original owner in the 19th century as a wedding present for his wife, it has been lovingly restored in recent years. While historic features like the elegant façade, grand rooms and antique French floor tiles have been preserved, the basement has been converted into a haven for fun and relaxation. The curved brick rooms are now home to a cinema room, a pool table, and a fitness suite. Meanwhile upstairs retains its 19th-century splendour through antique furniture, original fireplaces, and oak panelled walls. 

Set within an 18-hectare estate, there are beautiful spots to while away the days. Relax on the lawn with a book or sip calvados on the charming château terrace. On sunny days, whip up lunch on the barbecue while the children have fun in the play area. There are over 300 apple and pear trees in the fruit orchard, and beautiful walking trails through the estate’s woodland, with sprawling views of Normandy countryside, which you can explore on foot or on the bikes at the house. 

The area is surrounded by picturesque villages and scenery. The historic town of Gournay-en-Bray is a five-minute drive away, where you can pick up local produce at the twice-weekly market for a picnic. The Forêt de Lyons can be reached in twenty minutes by car, where you can practise a range of outdoor adventures, or simply walk through the winding woodland trails.

Originally built in the 17th century and featuring more recent additions (including an enormous 100sqm professional stainless-steel kitchen perfect for entertaining), the home’s red bricks, slate roof and multiple turrets make for a visually arresting sight. It’s surrounded by ancient woodland and wonderfully manicured gardens where hundreds of rose bushes and rhododendrons sweetly scent the air. This home includes membership at a tennis club located just over a kilometre away, and the nearest golf course is just two kilometres away. Inside, it’s hard to know where to begin, but the bedrooms on the top two floors are all elegantly decorated in a distinctly French style, while downstairs great room after great room is set up to give you a warm welcome. Evidence of the centuries this home has lived through is everywhere – from the period features to the antique furniture and original artwork. And history lovers will no doubt want to explore its past – which included a stint during the war as a Nazi command centre, only to become a transit camp for the Allied forces after its liberation.
