Set amid a leafy garden with lovely picnic spots and a private pool, the built-in barbecue and shaded terrace encourage outdoor living here. With colourful tiles, beamed ceilings, and a grandfather clock, this home's interior design is charming, though some elements may feel a bit too old-fashioned. While a boulangerie and pizzeria are nearby, plus Peymeinade sitting two kilometres away, we think a car is essential. Offering a great day trip, beachy Cannes awaits forty minutes down the road.

The heated infinity pool and the terrace’s loggia for alfresco dining are particular highlights. With five bedrooms over three floors, there’s plenty of space for all, and the separate apartment on the lower ground floor makes it ideal for multi-generational families. What’s more, there’s free access to local tennis courts, not to mention a bi-weekly market and great boulangerie in the village. Factor in the stunning beaches and idyllic Provencal villages within a twenty-minute drive (Nice airport is just thirty minutes by car too), and you’ll see why countryside bliss and Cote d’Azur glamour go hand in hand here.

Upstairs, the dining table sits on a mezzanine level, though we will admit it can be quite challenging to climb the spiral staircase with much more than a plate or two, so you might need to enlist some helpers, or simply stick to eating alfresco. A well-equipped summer kitchen, with a pizza oven and barbecue, ensure you can make the most of those long summer evenings.

Head out to explore and you'll find the charming Provençal village of Fayence just a few kilometres away, or it's a ten-minute drive to Seillans, probably the prettiest village in the whole of Provence. For day trips further afield, Cannes and the Côte d'Azur are around an hour away. Meanwhile, golf lovers will find over thirty courses within an hour's drive, including the world-renowned Terre Blanche, which is just 9km away.

This Provençal-style villa in the Côte d'Azur has a wonderful terraced garden to take advantage of the area’s warm climate. There are lovely views towards Mandelieu from the upper levels and the garden has an abundance of flowers and classic Mediterranean plants such as scented lavender, jasmine, lemon, and olive trees. There is ample space for sunbathing around the gated pool area, which also has a poolside shower and there's a summer kitchen, table tennis and a floodlit boules court too. When you feel like exploring, the village of Peymeinade is just a ten-minute walk away, where you’ll find several restaurants and shops including a supermarket.

Boasting stunning views over the picturesque wooded hillsides of the Massif des Maures, this stone farmhouse has lots of space inside and out. Two of the single beds are up on a mezzanine level and younger children may need supervision on some of the staircases. That said, the kitchen is well equipped for family meals, and pets are welcome to join you. Sun loungers surround the infinity pool, and the large garden has room for alfresco dining. There's plenty of peace and quiet here, so we think you'll want a car for trips to Saint-Tropez, Nice, and Cannes.

It’s a picture-perfect scene, this villa with wooden shuttered windows against a verdant green backdrop. The Mediterranean gardens are home to olive and cypress trees, manicured lawns and a shimmering swimming pool inviting you for a dip. Besides, with a huge outdoor area offering multiple seating areas and views across the countryside, the traditional elements can be overlooked. The seasonal swimming pool will be a big hit, and for those wanting a bit more privacy, one of the double bedrooms is located in a separate building. Just note that the owner lives on-site. You're also a bit far from the beach – about 25 kilometres from Cannes – but walking trails lead from the home straight into the Cote d'Azur hinterland, while Le Tignet is a short drive away.

Prepare to be wowed by this extraordinary villa in the Esterel National Park on the French Riviera. Constructed in 1904 for Lord Amherst, it retains an air of aristocracy, as seen with the grand staircase, antique furnishings and the chandeliers in almost every single room. On sunny days, what could be more civilised than afternoon tea out in the courtyard complete with loggia running around and a fountain in the middle?

However, you'll probably be happy to hear that some additions have been made in the hundred or so years since. The huge heated swimming pool is one such example, as is the gym, cinema room and billiards table inside.

Lots of people have been so charmed by the address that they've held weddings or large parties here, and you can do the same if you so wish. Alternatively, you can arrange art classes, wine-tasting or sporting events through the host, or see more of the area with a chauffeur or private yacht.

There's no shortage of places to visit around here. The medieval village of Fréjus with its Roman amphitheatre is only five minutes' drive away, as is the seaside town of St. Raphael. There are plenty of walking routes and scenic points to discover in the surrounding countryside, but Cannes is only forty minutes away in the car if you prefer to idle about aimlessly.
